  1. They had an incredible run with Keane after being rooted to the bottom as we are. We need a similar epic run. Unlikely but utterly possible given the way the team is beginning to gel and the possibility of further investment in the first team throughout the season if our good form continues. On paper we have one of the best squads in the division and our look on paper is beginning to show signs of transferring to the pitch. We have to win each game thgat you would expect us to win - against teams from about 8th down and pick up points against the top 8, which we showed signs of doing even before the current team selection bedded down.
  2. Anyone remember Gwen Stefanni??????? A few times we've been on the rack But since Liebherr its not gonna be like that 'Cause there ain't no holding us back now there aint no holding us back now Let me hear you say This **** is Lallana's, L-A-L-L-A-N-A-S [4x]
  3. Met him a few times - nice lad and I don't begrudge him doing the best for him and his family. With a better squad around him I'm sure he could have really shone for Saints. I note what others ahve said about players leaving too soon. Personally I think it was the right time for Surman. Lallana on the other hand does need to stay to develop further. I would add Bale's name to the debate - what a waste of incredible talent.
  4. Lmfao!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. We will not win this unless Leeds and about 3 other good teams in this Division get knocked out before we get to play them. We will win tonight but we have too many frailties defending right now.
  6. Yeah, we should just pick em up and move em. Wouldnt take much in terms of reconstruction or anything. Ermmmmmmm......... Have you seen the boxes at Spuds? I think how lucky we are at Saints every time I see White Hart Lane.
  7. He was on the bench. That's good enough for me. Everyone who was there for that game can recall how great the atmosphere was. Despite the tenseness of the match I always felt we would win and beleived that the players could raise their game at any point, especially with our backing which was first rate.
  8. Bloody hell!!! Are they still doing this? I still take a spare cap each time I go out of habbit from having a ST in the Northam a couple of years back.
  9. We seem to have stopped the long songs, other than away by the looks of it. I remeber singing OWTS and barmy army for 20/30 mins at a time a few seasons back until I nearly fainted (nothing to do with the beer, honest!). Even a vocal Northam aint gonna do the trick though I'm afraid. changes in the Itchen North and the Northam/Kingsland corner have made things difficult. Too many Saints fans just dont want to sing - or at least don't want to be one of the few that sing in certain stands - it's too embarassing and you get too much attention fro mthe stewards who think you're either mad or drunk.
  10. As said in another thread, move the home end to the Chapel. A concerted effort could be made via websites and by handing out fliers at the ground before ST renewals and in time the Chapel could be a really good home end. For those that think this is not possible, You're wrong - it can be done. I stood in the Northam for years but have now moved over to the Itchen with my folks. I'm sorry to say that the Northam really doesnt make much noise anymore, at least compared to the away fans. We should have a whole home end to roar the lads on. You do not need to be right next to the away fans - opposite is in fact better because you can get better banter going and the atmosphere would be so much better. Closing the Northam/Kingsland corner and the relocation of the singers in the Itchen North has made things worse.
  11. LOL, love it! Brilliant.
  12. LOL, nice point about Christians but you're anaology is worng. Their faith is based on untruths. My faith is based on evidence of what I have seen with my own eyes.
  13. Actually I am not sure we have improved much over that timescale. We have become more adept at defending set pieces and we have an aerial precence both in attack and in defence but with that some new weaknesses have also appeared. What I think I am seeing is potential, rather than an improvement. I have no doubt a fair few of our squad will leave either in January or at the end of the season and I would expect a fair few new faces in as well. Pards is testing players this year - those that make the grade will play their part in the promotion push next year and those that dont will go. A few people on here seem to have short memories. Let's not forget how bad a shape the squad was in before the takeover. It's a work in progress. Progress will be thorough and methodical. I have hope for the future, but at the present I see little improvement in the football on game day especially in the STYLE of football we are playing. I have faith.
  14. pffff, not like we got excited about Theo at 15 was it.....
  15. ...BTW I thought Rovers were very good yesterday - tactically spot on (including the way they cut off Kelvin's favoured distribution route to James and his backup of rolling the ball out before kicking - whcih they did from the outset) and they ran at our defenders with pace and skill time and time again - it is no wonder Lambert scored a hatfull with that calibre of player supplying him. Please take note Pardew.
  16. The Rovers fans cheered him at the start of the game and sung his name and clapped him throughout. His head did not seem to be in the right place in the first half, but was more focussed in the second half, I thought because he may have had a bolloking at half time but it may have been because he was attacking away from the large Rovers contingent. His header did indeed cross the line and I saw the lino give the goal before Papa put it away. Reminded me of BT - he always played below par for Sheff Utd against us and mysteriously went ill the day we beat them to stay up a couple of years ago.
  17. Our service has to be better. Lambert hasnt scored to many from open play has he. It will come with time.
  18. Sounds just like Pards.
  19. LOL, why did you 'thrown' him in the first place? For his football talent and the way he entertained and kept us up for years or for his morals? If you 'throwned' him for his morals I would seriously question your judgement - MLT is far from whiter than white. If you 'throwned' him for his skill I'm not sure what's changed. Seriously poor judgement on your behalf and others on here it would seem. For me this episode does not detract from the man's talent and if anything it adds to my perseption of MLT as a bit of an unintelligent, cheeky and endearing chap.
  20. Big deal. In a completely different league to match-fixing etc. Anyone that thinks Matt is saintly and whiter than white is a fool. He's just an ordinary bloke with a talent for football. Most people in his shoes at that time would have done the same.
  21. It's just like Rocky - we now have a nice stadium, excellent training facilities, players are well paid and have nice homes here in God's own land. I bet the players would play with a bit more grit and determination if that were not the case. Rocky. Eye of the tiger and all that.
  22. Always reminded me a LOT of Kenwyn Jones when I saw him play. He's a quality young player and I am still gutted we lost him, regardless of the reason.
  23. Hmm strange one, but then so was the decision to let Hatch go at the start of the season. We're a bit short of right backs now and the thought of James filling in at RB now that Murty is out doesnt exactly fill me with confidence.
  24. Lallana first in line for the Hairy Harding reach-around, which is proving popular at St Mary's following the 80's throwback's recent arrival
