  1. Spot on mate - some people on here are nver happy. This letter from Lynham is the best thing I've read on here - EVER.
  2. This is why I was one of those people on here who said that administration would be the best possible outcome some months ago. I have had the last laugh over the minority on here who tried to make me and others of a similar viewpoint look foolish when publicly it looked unlikley we would get a buyer. Anyway - enough of that - I have been waiting a while to say that though. This really is excellent news - one buyer is precisely what we need. The day the PLC is delisted and the takeover is complete will be a very happy day indeed - the start of something potentially very exciting - a proud club, whose fans can proudly go to games again, our living legend influencing decisions at the highest level and above all else a club we can once again feel part of. Is it just me or does anyone else feel like a fan rather than a customer right now?
  3. I would say so, yes. Another month of fees for Begbies Traynor though so it can't all be bad news.
  4. Depends entirely upon whether we get a buyer who is willing to invest and then it depends upon how much they will invest in playing/management staff. I see lower mid-table as the most probable. I have said before that League 1 is not easy - the football is better than most of us assume (not that much different to Championship standard aside from the strikers), the referees are likely to be even worse and there are some poxy little grounds our players will not like. There are also some good footbally clubs there, all aiming for promotion and without 10 point deductions. I would happily settle for promotion in 2 seasons but think that's unrealistic unless our buyer invests quite heavily.
  5. He's a quality player and I've often said that there is nobody else quite like him around. He's an odd shaped jigsaw piece but worth a lot to anyone requiring that one final piece. Torres is worth a lot more than £20m and Keane is, IMO, overvalued at £20m.
  6. Would explain Mark Fry's comments however. The longer this goes on the higher BT's fees are and they get paid first, before any creditors - they really do need to back down.
  7. Well they will have to back down or face getting buggger all
  8. I agree - it would have been sooooo much better paying two or three times Begbies hourly rates for one of the bigger boys, who in turn would of course been able to make soooooo much more out of the puny bids being tabled. Get real.
  9. Agreed. He's a thoroughly good bloke. If only the club had money and could have matched the wages he was offered by Everton....but hey it made so much sense to be a prudent PLC owned club.....NOT. Theo is something of an exception to the typical breed of footballer - he has intelligence. I would bet anyone you will NEVER see him on the front page of a paper having thumped a bouncer or journo after falling out of a nightclub drunk. In fact I just can't see him drinking at all.
  10. It is indeed bog standard for a new stadium of its size. They almost seem to come out of a box - they're so similar. Soul-less functional box of a stadium.
  11. I once spent a fortnight negotiating one of these for a client - they can be a real *****! Especially when the other parties prattle around.
  12. Only your avitar is keeping me sane right now
  13. Just hope this is a negotiating tactic and that one of the bidders will now up their bid. Deals like this often go right down to the wire as both sides see who blinks first. In the imortal words of Corporal Jones.......
  14. Their costs are slightly higher down here in Southampton than those in Preston but the ranges are in proportion. Fry will be working on this together with other people within his firm. BT are a decent outfit and cheaper than the bigger accountancy firms. I have no doubt at all that Fry will do the best job he can with limited resources (limited bids in this case). If the club is not sold BT will not get paid. That's why IP's charge high rates - it's a risky area in terms of recovery of fees. It's also quite niche and therefore there is a limited market to choose from as opposed to the multitude of two-bit bean counters within the accountancy profession generally. Let's not get worked up about BT's fees - remember it was Rupert's comical mismanagement that lead to administration in the first place.
  15. Yup, remember Pearson very obviously going out of his way and putting his arm around Gilletts shoulder at one of the home games last year and walking him down the dugout. He very clearly liked him as a player.
  16. A = Tony Blair B = Gordon Brown Restaurant - Caspian kebab, Bedford Place
  17. Personally I think nationality has very little to do with it. I would have thought someone with knowledge of the english game and system, good contacts and someone whom the players (both experienced and young) would respect would have been most important. It's so easy to say with hindsight that NP had those things as well as the respect and a synergy with most fans. History will judge your decisions and sadly both Wilde and Lowe failed. I just wish they would both admit it. Perhaps then I would have more respect for them.
  18. Thanks for the link. If they really are posts from the man himself I hope he has nothing to do with the tabled bids. I would I also say that I would find it very difficult to take anyone posting in that manner seriously for a second.
  19. Gutted I couldn't afford to take part in this. Almost wish I had sold my body to play listening to the reports. On a serious note - does anyone know why they would not consider doing this every year for charity?
  20. They are - by drumming up support. Personally I don't like it either. That's fine though as I am a big boy and don't allow others to dictate my decisions. Just ignore it.
  21. Oooh better still - a standing area.
  22. Wider seats at SMS. Oh and some padding would go down better than Faria Alam at a Sven Goran Ericson lookalike convention.
  23. Some will not be surprised at how competitive League One football is next year. Evidently a good number of posters on here will be surprised at the standard of football. I can see some people being disappointed when we don't walk the league.
  24. For all intents and purposes it will be! lol, you gotta love Saintsweb Fridays
  25. I reckon we will know a lot more by next Sunday.
