  1. Here's the difference: In Argentina they all love Maradonna and as you say they are all extremely passionate about the national team and the way that Maradonna helped them to success. In England it's all about the club, rather than the country (until we win something and there would be a temporary passion for the country). Arsenal fans boo England players because they play for Chelsea etc - that just about sums it up. Unless the players all grew up passionate about Saints what makes you think they would all want to play for Le Tis just because he is a LOCAL hero?
  2. The phrase "good coach, god awful manager" was made for him. Please don't let him anywhere near our club other than in a coaching capacity. NP will turn out to be a much better manager IMO. Adams lacks the level of self-discipline and self-motivation needed by a good manager.
  3. Sad thread. What gets me is there are clearly so many of you that want this story to be true. I don't understand some people.
  4. Laurence of a labia
  5. Monday 11am then.....gotta be quicker on here
  6. Is it....... "Wilde fists Lowe" ?
  7. Not sure why but that's brilliant, I just lol'd chicken and rice all down my shirt.
  8. I'm in for the longhaul Dell Days. I got promoted in my 4th season with the mighty Eastleigh - won the title on the last day (McLaggon, McNish and Goeburn were particularly good for me) and am now I'm fighting off relegation in the Blue Square Prem - should do it although I've made Pompey my feeder club now because the Saints youngsters available were tosh. Just turned coaches and first teamers full-time pros. Get through this season and then I'll get a few good strikers in ready for a promo push next season. Picked up a few good younsters on frees from Neath and play them as amateurs so pay them nothing!
  9. That's always been Lowe's downfall IMO. We could see that years ago in the Prem - we shuold have invested in the first team but he invested in the youth instead. His appointment of Wigley to provide continuity between youth and first team with his vision of bringing the kids through then was the start of our downfall that season and IMO the main factor amongst many that lead to our relegation. History repeating itself? I wonder if Duncan would agree?
  10. I think the rules for forefeiture mean we lose 4-0.
  11. Well bugger me, Alpine and I actually find something we agree on!
  12. Link anyone?
  13. That is absolutely the reason IMO. Really blatant and patronising of the board too. Just hope for Michael's sake he doesn't get embroiled in all the crap that's going on at the moment.
  14. He's going to be kicked off the park
  15. Am I the only bugger plodding along with Eastleigh? Last night Rupert Lowe said that the parent club thing wasnt working and now I can loan most players from Saints ressies. Looking good for at least the playoffs after 3 years in the Blue Square South. Got some really good lads in. Come on you spitfires.
  16. Model professional. We can only hope his example rubs off on the youngsters.
  17. Well I hope he has something useful to do instead otherwise he'll just end up spending his time away from SMS pacing up and down wondering what he's missing.
  18. Oh dear, kangaroo court. Trial by newspaper? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Let's wait for the facts before we judge him eh.... One fact is for sure though, he's played his last game in a saints shirt. Wonder what will come of our little thief now his loan is up.
  19. The fans certainly made a difference and the players responded accordingly. Not really surprising. Shame that the Reading fans outsung us for most of the game. I've stood in the Northam only once this season and noticed that a lot of the old faces have gone - a lot of the lads (myself included) that would instigate the Lowe out songs and a lot of the pro-saints chants - that's why I think it's quieter. Also feel that the Itchen corner has been a real loss in terms of saints crowd volume.
  20. It was indeed 4-2-3-1. If you're in any doubt just watch how they line themselves up at goalkicks. The 3 attacking midfielders were noticably not as stretched as they were early in the season when we played a more common form of 4-5-1. Hence Holmes etc were given much more freedom to roam rather than being asked to simply hug the touchline.
  21. Sorry Nick, it's too late. I don't see any way this season can be turned around now and today's team looked like we were preparing for Div 1 next year (and a struggle next year at that - face it every team in Div 1 would want to kick our asses). I've no doubt we're currently in talks to sell the last of our family silver. I think we all now owe it to the club we love to make our feelings known and hope that it brings about some sort of change (a new manager first of all - Jan is simply incapable of getting the best from these youngsters but I do ask myself who else would possibly be prepared to sacrifice their manhood and become Lowe's glove puppet). I realy do fear the level that Lowe will take us to if he stays in charge. Nick, I generally agree with your views expressed on here but I've now had enough - at this stage of the season carrying on in hope with the current set up would be akin to sticking my head in the sand.
