That's absolutely right - the only way to do it would be for one club to take the other over - ie we buy all of Pompey's assets. You can't own two clubs like this though and nor should anyone want to. If anyone buys the skates they will either be mad or a serious gambler. Admin is their fate I am afraid, and whether they even manage to find a buyer in admin is seriously in doubt - they are such a mess.

He was not good enough for us. His decision making in particular was woeful and that's a key attribute for any attacking midfielder. Also not impressed by his lack of enthusiasm during the warm-ups before matches - even whe nhe played - he looked disinterested. He'll probably end up with a div 1 or CCC club as an average player - glad it looks like being away from Saints. If Chelsea rate him so highly I wonder how highly they would rate Lallana who is by far the better player, regardless of age.

I think they melted Statue down to help pay for a proper sculpture. Whenever I see Statue I remember the interview with the sculpter when he was saying what a labour of love it was and how he had 'difficulties' with the face and was making changes right up to the moment the model went off to be bronzed. Chill TDD. We are in very good hands financially. We're following the Fulham model of sustainability rather than the Pompey one of boom and bust. By the Fulham model I mean investing relatively modest sums on players to get promoted to the Prem and once in the Prem balance the books carefully to ensure that we break even or thereabouts. I am sure this is the plan and I do not see Liebherr ******ing his money away when we get into the Prem. Unlike Pompey we have: * a large following and will get 30k plus each game in the Prem * fans with money to afford Prem prices, merchandise, food drinks, hospitality etc * a very good infratructure including our own trainign ground, established accademy and stadium * a stadium that makes money from corporate events and from leasing space We have all the things you need for a good sustainable Prem model. Pompey didn't - they relied solely on their sugar daddy to pay the very substantial defecit between income and outgoings. When the sugar daddy got fed up the consequences were no surprise. Pompey will not be taken over unless they are in admin (and even then I have serious doubts as to whether anyone would take the gamble of paying creditors even 10p in the £) because they have none of the things needed to suppoort a sustainable model. I was right about admin being the only thing possible to save our club and I will be right about this, I assure you.

Exactly what I thought although it was generally beleived he would need to go back to Preston anyhow. The new manager will want to take a look and weigh up his options. If Trotman does not cut the mustard we may still see him back if we put in a decent offer.

I am not going to debate how good a player Morgan is, but IMO the TEAM would function better with a quality holding midfielder who is cultured enough to pass the ball and want the ball as well as doing the dirty work. A Thomas Graverson type. We can then say goodbye to Wotton and rotate between Hammond (my first choice) and Morgan as the more attacking of two CM players. I would be playing 4-4-2 for the rest of the season too. Our quality up front in a 4-4-2 is as important a defensive tactic as it is an attacking one because opponents sit deeper against us in a 4-4-2.

I'm getting a bit fed up of this whole pacey striker thing. We have Papa FFS. Look at the goals Papa scored vs Norwich bursting through the middle and then again vs. Exeter - classic pacey striker's goal showing all the strength, composure and ball control you could ever ask for from a 'pacey striker' in League 1. Is this not the player you crave? Has he not already proven his class? If not, then who better? Someone I'm sure will remind me how often Papa gets caught offside. I agree - he does need to learn to hold his runs but I reckon he is capable of learning and will either learn or be out of the door - Pardew doesnt seem to suffer fools gladly. The rest of the players also need to learn to play him in a little earlier instead of dwelling on the ball so long and linesmen need to learn to watch the line when the ball is played rather than the line when he receives the ball. Not all offside decisions vs Papa are his fault and personally I can forgive him being at fault a few times in return for goals.

We could do a lot better. Reckon he will go to Charlton instead.

A lot of people suggesting we need a new LM. Personally I like Lallana cutting in from the left and think he has done very well for us there this season. However, not sure why Holmes is not getting a game as Lallana's sub - he's left footed and before he got injured last year was IMO our most influential player going forward. What we really really really need is a good solid right back. Murty is just too injury prone to be relied upon and he is not getting any younger. Pardew seems to have a good eye for full backs in Harding and Murty and I trust he will come up with the goods in Jan. Also think we are missing a holding midfielder with bite, that will allow Hammond to bomb on into the box, which I see as his strength (surely a 10 goal per year midfielder if he had the confidence in his team mates to make runs). Wotton should be sold. He hides from the ball when we are in possession and his passes are woeful - what's the point in having a holding midfielder to break things up only to give the ball away again?!

This probably will not affect you then. I always buy my tickets over the phone a day in advance of games so that I can collect them from the stadium. I always ask for a centre stand location but the nearest they have on offer is some way away. Now the chances of you pitching up on the day of a game and getting prime seats at the box office are next to nil I would say.

Simple. A holding midfielder that looks for the ball and can play simple passes to team-mates. Two skills that are completely lost on Wotton. That would allow Hammond to bomb on and threaten the oppositions goal even more than he currently does and afford the defence some much needed cover. I guess I am thinking a Quashie-style player but with a tad more positional discipline.

In the Lambert mould. Kinda. Great eye for goal and can score from just about anywhere given the opportunity. Scored a great overhead kick a few weeks back. Bit slow but strong.

My thoughts exactly. That 6th spot is still very much up for grabs and I don't reckon there is anyone nearly as good as us fighting for it. We have enough games left and the talent - we just need to keep winning. COYRAWM

never do it mate, seriously! the feeling of a last minute winner/leveller far outweighs seeing dozens of games finish disappointingly as expected. the last 30mins or so on tuesday was sheer excitement

Beckford likes to come deeper and pick the ball up whereas Papa is always looking for a well-timed through ball, like the one he got on Tuesday night. Quite agree that the linos have not been sharp enouogh to keep up with him in this division. Seen Papa's finish vs Norwich on the tele a few times now and it gets better and better every time. Shows great pace, strength and awesome composure. Very good player IMO. Has anyone else noticed how many 50/50 balls fall in Papa's favour? He looks so lucky each time he tackles or goes to intercept - but it's not luck at all, more his quick feet.

TDD is making me laugh on this thread. I think you're missing the point mate! I don't want to stay in this division any longer than is necessary but that doesnt stop me from loving every match I see. The players began to respond as we got on the ref's case. Up until that point there was a very earie feeling to the match - sun setting, people hung-over from work party Friday, Tranmere time-wasting, cheap/free kids game etc etc.
