  1. A lot of people suggesting we need a new LM. Personally I like Lallana cutting in from the left and think he has done very well for us there this season. However, not sure why Holmes is not getting a game as Lallana's sub - he's left footed and before he got injured last year was IMO our most influential player going forward. What we really really really need is a good solid right back. Murty is just too injury prone to be relied upon and he is not getting any younger. Pardew seems to have a good eye for full backs in Harding and Murty and I trust he will come up with the goods in Jan. Also think we are missing a holding midfielder with bite, that will allow Hammond to bomb on into the box, which I see as his strength (surely a 10 goal per year midfielder if he had the confidence in his team mates to make runs). Wotton should be sold. He hides from the ball when we are in possession and his passes are woeful - what's the point in having a holding midfielder to break things up only to give the ball away again?!
  2. Lovely. That's brightened up a lonely day in the office. Statue always makes me smile.
  3. This probably will not affect you then. I always buy my tickets over the phone a day in advance of games so that I can collect them from the stadium. I always ask for a centre stand location but the nearest they have on offer is some way away. Now the chances of you pitching up on the day of a game and getting prime seats at the box office are next to nil I would say.
  4. Simple. A holding midfielder that looks for the ball and can play simple passes to team-mates. Two skills that are completely lost on Wotton. That would allow Hammond to bomb on and threaten the oppositions goal even more than he currently does and afford the defence some much needed cover. I guess I am thinking a Quashie-style player but with a tad more positional discipline.
  5. In the Lambert mould. Kinda. Great eye for goal and can score from just about anywhere given the opportunity. Scored a great overhead kick a few weeks back. Bit slow but strong.
  6. My thoughts exactly. That 6th spot is still very much up for grabs and I don't reckon there is anyone nearly as good as us fighting for it. We have enough games left and the talent - we just need to keep winning. COYRAWM
  7. never do it mate, seriously! the feeling of a last minute winner/leveller far outweighs seeing dozens of games finish disappointingly as expected. the last 30mins or so on tuesday was sheer excitement
  8. Beckford likes to come deeper and pick the ball up whereas Papa is always looking for a well-timed through ball, like the one he got on Tuesday night. Quite agree that the linos have not been sharp enouogh to keep up with him in this division. Seen Papa's finish vs Norwich on the tele a few times now and it gets better and better every time. Shows great pace, strength and awesome composure. Very good player IMO. Has anyone else noticed how many 50/50 balls fall in Papa's favour? He looks so lucky each time he tackles or goes to intercept - but it's not luck at all, more his quick feet.
  9. TDD is making me laugh on this thread. I think you're missing the point mate! I don't want to stay in this division any longer than is necessary but that doesnt stop me from loving every match I see. And I mean that. I am genuinely loving every match at the moment. TDD, put your gun down, have a beer and enjoy the ride back to the Prem. COYRAWM
  10. Southampton Invisible Society enjoy an evening at St Mary's as two of our pros pefect their rimming technique
  11. I was on Honeymoon in the US earlier this year. Saw a couple fo bloody great Liebherr diggers in the desert near Phoenix. Made me smile, like you. My wife wasn't quite as thrilled.
  12. The steward let the little kid keep running to the players. It was a bit of comic relief. They were a lot quicker to bring down the bigger lads at the end of the match.
  13. I would start Waigo instead of Antonio against Norwich, otherwise 4-4-2 as we began on Saturday. I predict Lallana will play a blinder tomorrow night. ALso predict a goal for papapapapa
  14. The players began to respond as we got on the ref's case. Up until that point there was a very earie feeling to the match - sun setting, people hung-over from work party Friday, Tranmere time-wasting, cheap/free kids game etc etc.
  15. It's quite sad that there may be Saints fans who do not consider MLT to be a legend. Not sure whether its due to short memories, a need to trawl and be controversial or just plain thick? Frankly who cares. MLT is a Saints legend. Not necessarily a footballing legend like Pele or Maradonna but a Saints legend.
  16. I think he was simply explaining why their odds were shorter at this time.
  17. Spot on Andy. Leeds to win the title with Norwich and Hudds battling it out for 2nd spot is my shout. Charlton look very ordinary as do Rovers, MK Dons and all the other teams there or thereabouts.
  18. Saints and Leeds are two evenly matched teams. Just like Norwich and Saints are pretty evenly matched. Next Saturday at Leeds should be a very interesting game. Could go either way.
  19. Defence - Trotts will go back to PNE I reckon and we will need to sign/loan another good young defender who is good in the air. Is it too early to start thinking about long-term solutions to the right-back position? Midfield - Send Mellis back PLEASE. Loan a better attacking midfielder. Wotton and James between them should be good enough for the holding midfield role for the remainder of this season. Tell anyone enquiring about Lallana in no uncertain terms to feck off, we're no longer a selling club. Sign Antonio permanently for a small fee.

  21. What a complete pr1ck. Football supporters come from all walks of life and include disabled, elderly, young, uneducated, illiterate, careless etc not just the well educated professional types. Your post brings back memories of Lowe - wasn't he the last person to try and cleans the club of those he felt were unpalatable? To criticise and patronise a fellow saints fan without knowing them the way you have shows you to be pathetic.
  22. Impressed with AP so far. His signing have been superb. The only thing I give him less than full marks on is tactics - tactically I think he's wrong as much as he is right. However, if he keeps brining good players in we will rely less on tactics as those facing us.
  23. Pompey had earmarked £20million for the project, which they felt was a reasonable level. According to some influential people that wanted Pompey to host, the World Cup would have brought in excess of £100million into the area. Not a bad return if true, but more of a risky investment than others at a time when Councils are being a bit more cautious with money. Thank fook ours didnt invest in Icelandic banks.
  24. Nope, wrong I'm afraid. PCC have been very positive and helpful regarding a new ground for Pompey. In fact, they already have a blueprint for the redevelopment of Fratton Park. Fact is Pompey no longer want a new ground. They do not have the money now that their sugar daddy has gone. With premiership gates of less than 20k, supporters who cannot afford premiership prices and large amounts of fan apathy it would be commercial suicide for them to build a new stadium. Pompey are living beyond their means and have done so for a few years now.
  25. Agree totally, no wonder Pompey (city as a whole, not the football club) have made inroads in recent years. Working in Pompey and working with the council on some projects I really notice a difference.
