Upgraded overnight and was pleased to have no 'starting-off' problems. My nightmare was that it wouldn't work at all and I would be using an old laptop to try to find out on Google how to remove it and go back to the old system and so I am pleased my worst fears have not been confirmed. There are a few unfamiliar things but I daresay I will get used to them quickly enough. The first change I noticed was a new browser called Microsoft Edge. My Favorites from the previous Internet Explorer weren't visible but could be imported with just a click of the button. Sadly, they are imported in alphabetical order and not the order they were in before, but this is not a hardship, rather it gives me the opportunity to prune. I also see this new browser opens up PDF files and so maybe (not sure yet) Adobe Acrobat is no longer needed to read PDFs. Some of the programmes I have used previously have been changed so that another programme (now called apps) opens the file (for example an app called Photos now opens up jpeg files rather than Windows Photo Viewer) and this makes printing more of a chore and so I have switched back to what I had before. I have noticed on irritation ... in the old Microsoft 8 if I typed in any word on the main screen (not the Desktop screen), it acted as a search engine for my computer, which was very handy. With the new Microsoft 10 although there appears to be a similar facility, it doesn't seem to be as thorough ... maybe I just need a bit more time to get used to it. Overall my first impressions are that it is good and all is well. And as an aside, I was given an iPad last month and it is superb.

A very recent problem has arisen. When I use Google to search for something and then hit the Search button, rather than receiving a list of suggested sites I get returned to my browser's homepage. This means I cannot use Google as a search engine. I am using IE 11 and Windows 8. I do not have this problem when using Google on the Google Chrome browser and so one solution would be to use GC as my main browser. However, I would prefer to use IE. Any suggestions how to cure the IE Google search problem? Many thanks in advance.

There were times when Feyenoord had the ball just outside our penalty passing it around ... but everywhere they looked they saw a Saints player. Our defence looked like a roll of impenetrable barbed wire. Our first time passing around in midfield looked slick and neat and the forwards fast and sharp. Much to admire.

What saints goal have you celebrated most?
Kingsland Codger replied to old_southy's topic in The Saints
At St Mary's - Camara's daisy cutter to win the match against Norwich. I forgot I was in my mid-50s and rather overdid the celebration. I had to sit down, take several deep breaths and drink some water. Away - against Fulham at Loftus Road in 2003 - the 'Niemi' goal. Last minute, having been down 2-0 and Michael Svensson nodded in after Niemi had hit the bar. It all happened down at the far end and most of us thought it was Niemi who had scored. -
In addition to providing us with spiritual guidance, the Dalai Lama has this very weekend shown us the way when it comes to fashionable headgear. A simple yet colourful tee-shirt appears to be the trend for 2015. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama/

I recall the very first Yes album all those years ago. With the final track, 34.45, especially memorable.

Well said.

Alternatively, instead of having a colourful variety of differing opinions, we could just go by what the UK government has decided; 28 December. https://www.gov.uk/bank-holidays But where would be the fun in that?

I recall going up to Newcastle to see the Saints a few years back, in October. It was noticeably cooler - Newcastle fans were walking around in short-sleeved black-&-white tops and the Saints supporters were to be found in Marks & Spencer buying an extra wooly.

Here's hoping Dave Merrington will take the sensible option and call him simply "the goalkeeper" when making his comments on Radio Solent.

I offer as a suggestion our second goal in the defeat of Arsenal. On the one hand I'm not sure it counts as an official assist as there was a poor defensive error just before Tadic scored, but then the goal included what might be called a 'double-assist' as there was Victor's inch-perfect chip to Davis and then a superb bit of control and pass by Davis to set things up. If the defensive touches mean it can't count as an assist, well, just enjoy the clip anyway. From around 1.50 on the link below. Wanyama and Davis assist for Tadic

Quite a boost for the resort of Mamaia.

No worries, CD - the Kingsland is full of old codgers. It takes all sorts to make a stadium full of Saints fans.

Not me, honest.

Post-Match Reaction: Stoke City 2-1 SAINTS
Kingsland Codger replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Hopefully one of the assessors will draw Clattenberg's attention to this bizarre anomaly and he might improve thereafter. Fat lot of good that is to us right now, however. -
Mmmm.. so we have criticisms of Pelle for not being enthusiastic and criticisms of Mane for being excessively keen. We are indeed a tough bunch to please. Well done to JWP for his composed and confident approach.

We came from behind to get a draw at Villa and at Chelsea and at St Mary's against Ipswich in the Cup - but we don't draw many.
