I offer for consideration the last-minute equaliser "Niemi" goal against Fulham at Loftus Road in the spring of 2003. It was down at the other end from us Saints fans and although Killer scored (from the rebound off the bar), from our distance it looked like our Favourite Finn had done the business with a fantastic volley. But whoever scored, the stand we were in went beserk.

According to the BBC website*, in May 2008 200,000 people were at Southsea Common for the FA Cup open-topped bus parade. Where are they now? *http://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/content/articles/2008/05/15/pompey_victory_parade_feature.shtml

Those of us who travel to a football match by boat are pleased to read we are not covered by the legislation. What an odd law - I wonder which bright spark thought that one up.

Her name was Deborah Lambert (I wonder if, by any chance she might be related...). As Ms Lambert was valuing the utterly impractical chairs, she asked the question "Who would want them?". Unsurprisingly, she didn't answer her own question but the clear implication was -without any provenance for the Portsmouth FC -> HMS Warrior -> HMS Victory -> Monty -> Churchill story, the 14 chairs were worth around £180 each tops. She acknowledged should stories about the chairs be thoroughly researched and the rumours (Terry's word) proved to be true, they would be worth more. Given the above, I'd be inclined to go with the Antiques Roadshow professional.

FULL-TIME - West Brom 0-1 Southampton & MotM
Kingsland Codger replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
The colour/design of the tie depends on the choice of shirt far more than that of the suit. Further, a tie is more than simply an article of clothing - it tells others about your self; regiment, university, business association, golf/yacht club - that kind of thing. In this case, a Saints necktie, beit the crest or stripes or whatever, would be essential. -
Are people more interested in Wednesdays international now?
Kingsland Codger replied to ozzmeister's topic in The Saints
Now that SRL is likely to feature I shall not only be interested, I shall probably watch the match. Earlier in the day my interest will be in the Japan v Uruguay game. The phrase "I am interested in the Japan v Uruguay game" isn't something I would normally post on an internet forum but life has its little ways of surprising us all, doesn't it? -
Rickie Lambert called up for England
Kingsland Codger replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in Golden Posts
Wonderful news, fully deserved and about-time-too. And yet our press are saying this is 'a surprise' call up. Look at things from the other end of the telescope and the story should read... Ricky Lambert, England's top-scoring Premier League striker (who scored against Champions League teams Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea) has been selected for the England squad. The press ought to be coming up with articles asking why on earth it has taken so long. -
I believe he once played at St Mary's. We had a Carling Cup home game against Birminghamwhen we were in L1 - this might have been the game when Murty was badly injured (maybe not). I recall being confused by the Birmingham striker as the name on his shirt wasn't the name one expected (a bit like Yoshida having Maya on his shirt). Benitez moved very gracefully (he reminded me of Gary Sobers running up to bowl - almost cat-like) but had a shot like a thunderbolt and quite how the post he hit with one of his shots stayed upright was a miracle. RIP

Problem with BBC Radio online
Kingsland Codger replied to Kingsland Codger's topic in Technology Chat
Thank you for the suggestion. As it happens, the BBC radio window is now working again - it (or, more likely, my laptop) seems to have repaired itself. I found another way around the problem. A website called tunein.com offers radio stations from just about everywhere, including BBC Radio 4 Long wave so the cricket commentary was available. -
I am having difficulties listening to the BBC Radio online. I get the new window opening up and everything appears fine but nothing happens. I can listen to other radio stations just fine, (Classic FM, Talk Sport and for a test, France Inter and NHK Tokyo) but cannot get the BBC and therefore no TMS cricket commentary. But this is only a recent problem, I could get the BBC last week. Any ideas as to why this would be and how to correct it? MTIA

I have managed to login to renew my ST but the screen is telling me "Unable to find customer details". So I have filled in the boxes with my name address and so on and I now have one box telling me "Your details have been saved" and directly below it a message saying "Unable to find customer details". When I go through to the checkout, my details are not showing. I am reluctant to spend over £700 if the seller is unaware where to deliver the product. Any tips as to how I can ensure my contact details are saved?

The victory at home to MK Dons was one of those wake-up moments when all things became possible.

God I am glad that Adkins left...how embarrassing!
Kingsland Codger replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
True, but can't that be said of every football manager - though to be fair they are often asked the most ridiculous questions by poor journalists/reporters. -
How many international teams have had Saints players?

Jack Cork - Great Britain Our Jack came on a sub in the warm up game against Brazil last summer -
Many thanks, The9. A very useful website to know. The page to which you directed me had several suggested solutions but should anyone else experience the same problem, the suggestion given by Herbert on page 3 was the one that worked for me. Once again, many thanks.

I have a problem with Microsoft Word 2010 When I want to print an address on an envelope I usually highlight the address, and on the Mailings tab I click on Envelopes. The Envelopes and Labels window opens but when I click on Print I am now seeing a new box which says "The number must be between 1 and 31" I have been printing addresses on envelopes for years and never had this appear before. Any suggestions as to how to get this back to where it was before?

Also on the show with SRL was Grant Holt - the link being Players who made their Premiership debut at 30 years of age, both GH and SRL had lengthy early careers in the Lower Leagues and they had played together at Rochdale. During the chat they were asked about the England squad and that despite good goal-scoring records they had have been overlooked. Both GH and SRL said they got the impression that their time playing in the Lower Leagues had worked against them such that they aren't regarded as 'Premiership' strikers but rather as 'Lower League' strikers who happened to be playing currently in the Premiership. Holt was the more chatty of the two and was fullsome in his praise for SRL's achievements this year.

Earlier in this thread one or two of the younger members who were born/became politically aware post-Thatcher wondered what some of us oldies experienced. I can say Britain in the early 70's was an inconvenient place to live. There were constant strikes and I can certainly recall having to study for my 'O' and 'A' levels by candle and torchlight in the freezing cold. (I also recall being told by my mother, that my generation were lucky and we should be grateful the Luftwaffe were dropping bombs every night). If it wasn't the electrical workes, it was the miners, the steelworkers, the railways, the dockers (there was indeed a dock strike in 1970) ... It didn't matter who was in power, Heath or Wilson/Callaghan, I'm not even sure who was to 'blame'; Industrial Relations were just shocking. My studies took me to live overseas to a country (Japan) where customer convenience was the driving force and it was a real eye-opener to see how a place buzzed when everything (and everybody) worked in harmony. I barely lived in the UK during the Thatcher/Major period and so I never grasped the social divisions tearing the country apart but the Britain I returned to about 15 years ago was a nation that had changed for the better. One example - I needed a new telephone line installed and was fully expecting a 6 to 8 week wait; the engineer came the next day. If this is Mrs Thatcher's legacy then maybe she succeeded - but had I stayed in the UK and lived in the North my approach might be very different.

Le Fondre - No Goal & J Rod Should Have Been Sent Off
Kingsland Codger replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Alternatively, had a goal not been scored, Saint should have been awarded a penalty and Federici a red card for clattering into Jay Rod after Jay rod had played the ball. -

Alternatively, could it be argued if a chubby traveller has difficulty fitting into the airline seat then he is receiving a faulty product and therefore entitled to a refund?

Aren't the PCC answerable to the District Auditor or whatever this organisation is called nowadays? Ah, yes ... the Audit Commission http://www.audit-commission.gov.uk/about-us/ ... Our primary focus will always be safeguarding the interests of taxpayers. But does the Audit Commission have any teeth?
