Whilst I don't deny Becchio gave our defence a real challenge, his finishing was dire. Not dissimilar to Kenny Miller who came to St Marys with a Big Reputation but couldn't deliver - a feat he repeated with even more hopelessness at Wembley last weekend. The Snodgrass volley a few minutes after Ricky's wonder goal summed it up for me. Good positioning, Row Z finish.

There you go with the wonder save at around 1.32

One for the purists - Niemi v Spurs at WHL. We were losing 0-1 (or it might have been 0-2) and a cross came over from the right. It was nodded down by Kanute and Jermain Defoe hit it on the volley from 6 yards out - a move not dissimilar to our goal against Leeds tonight. Despite it being hit hard and at point blank range, Niemi not only saved it, he held onto it, leaving many in the stadium wondering where the heck the ball had gone. Even the Sours (a typo but too good to correct) fans applauded. Sadly, AN rolled the ball out to Claus who gave it straight back to Defoe who then scored. We went on to lose 5-1 and the wonder save was never shown on MOTD so only those present at the match witnessed it.

Kelvin - what a save

I've lost count of the number of times he has given the ball away - although he is not alone in doing this.

Many thanks for these responses which have confirmed my initial fears. Thank you also to the Mods for having this forum where a question such as mine can be cleared up swiftly.

I received a phone call this morning from someone claiming to be from Windows Technical Care. When asked, he told me Windows Technical Care was run from Stockton USA but that he was calling from India. I'm not at all clear on technical issues but I think he wanted me to go online and do something to stop spyware. I have a paid-for and up-to-date version of AVG Internet Security and I concluded this was not a genuine phone call and so I asked him to email me whatever was required. He said he couldn't do this but gave me a URL of wtcare.com Has anyone ever heard of Windows Technical Care? Many thanks in advance

Would a credit downgrade signal the end of Coalition credibility?
Kingsland Codger replied to pap's topic in The Lounge
Do we look likely to lost the AAA status? As I understand it, Moody's have put the UK on a 'negative outlook' - which means there is a 30% chance of losing the triple A status in the next 18 months. Which is not the same as the UK "looking likely to lost triple AA status in the short to medium term", is it? The link from the BBC business section of their wesbite is useful, with Stephanie Flanders giving a clear comment on the audio link http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17022631 We were on a 'negative watch' before and didn't lose our rating, so just because Moodys have put us on 'negative outlook' it doesn't mean a downgrade is going to happen. More worryingly is how a ratings agency (owned by whom? reporting to where?) appears to be in a position to cause a change of government in many countries. -

One way to get people drinking less might be to have a decent non-alcohol alternative. I have a brother who doesn't drink and he says orange juice, J20, non-alcohol beer just doesn't cut it. Designer water costs a fortune and is equally unappealing.

I thought it was 34,000 free tickets we gave away for every home match? Well, that's what a skate told me, so it must be true.

Last night on The News Quiz, left-wing comedian Jeremy Hardy gave a good rant about 'Arry and the court case. It will be on the wireless again today (Saturday) at 12.30 lunchtime on Radio 4 or you can catch it on the BBC 'Listen Again' facility. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006r9yq - Series 76 episode 8 From around 14.57 through to 19.20

Mental things you did when you were younger
Kingsland Codger replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Lounge
Mental things? I once learnt by heart the German prepositions that take the Dative - (aus, ausser, bei, mit, nach, zeit, von and zu) together with those that took the Accusative (bis, durch, fur, gegen, oder, um, weider and entlang). It is possible I've got them the wrong way around. This was back in the 60s when learning by rote was the norm. Looking back, I cannot think of anything more utterly wasteful of my time. -
Why have a new account for this payment? Why Monaco? If the payment was not a bonus, was not work related and was therefore not liable for tax, why not pay it into an existing account?

Welcome to the thread, Super Bock. We shall all look forward to your comments and views.

Nothing wrong with buying an umbrella, Spudgun. Using one, however ...

I think you are correct. It happened a couple of years ago when one of the Midland clubs (Birmingham? West Brom?) went back up with some PPs outstanding.

All the above are tremendous and I'd like to add Talisker from Skye.

I listened to one of those involved in the Reseach on the heart attack story on the wireless yesterday morning. He said that in addition to an improvement in diet and more exercise, the chief reason for this staggering stat was the smoking ban - and that a trend was starting to emerge as soon as 2 weeks after the ban was imposed.
-
Not really an answer to the question originally posed but as a comment on the state of the nation ... We are used to judging how things are by the economic data - GDP growth (or lack of it), inflation, unemployment, trade deficit, exchange rate that kind of thing and the news the day before yesterday about the economy shrinking by 0.2% was indeed a Bad Thing and has set politicians and journalists (and football forum contributors) off as is to be expected. However, there was some other news out yesterday - death by heart attack has fallen by 50% in the last 10 years. I regards this a truly positive bit of news - but this kind of stat won't be appearing in any 'state of the nation' list of data.

One zero too many there, I think Phil, but very much in line with the True Spirit of Pompey nonetheless

What else? Well, he would need his kosekitoohon updated and probably have to contact his chozeijimusho. Then fill in the white form, the blue form, the orange form, the pink form ... oh and don't forget the green form. You would then wait whilst the lads round the back spent much time drinking green tea and sucking air over their back teeth in a "xxxssshhh" sort of sound everytime they came across something unusual - and a footballer of Korean descent leaving Japan to live in the UK would be classfied as unusual - it could take a whole day in just one local office. Then again, he might get lucky and it will all go through smoothly and only take 3 or 4 hours. Kosekitoohon = family registration document Chizeijimusho = local tax office -

Phrases to learn. Ganbare (pronounced gan ba ray) = Persevere (or as we would say "Come on") Omedetou (pronounced o may day toe) = Congratulations, well done. Subarashii (soo ba ra she) = wonderful, splendid Sugoi (soo goy) = Amazing (same sort of thing as wonderful but with more surprise) Dame (da may) = no good, rubbish
