Now, I'm no psychologist, but I think I detect a hint of cynicism here. How do you feel about that?

The other nice thing is that you can take a girl to bed with a reasonable expectation that "she" isn't sporting testicles.

They've been an illusion for some time now, tbh. There was an interesting programme about just that last weekend, on the World Service.

Fantastic news. A great-grandson to the Queen. A son to Prince William. A nephew to Prince Harry. Well, I say "nephew"......

Not good enough, I'm afraid. We are trying to enforce democracy and our moral principles on countries basically unwilling to embrace them. Therefore, we have to demonstrate those principles as being better than the ones they currently use; and Guantanamo is a prime example of the exact opposite, detention without charge, trial, or any prospect of either.

"While Southampton, or simply Saints, is not as colourful as Manchester United, it is better than nothing." We have finally found our level.

Like I said, somebody had to get a good kicking for 9/11. Didn't really matter who it was, but someone had to get it to satisfy the american voters. Afghanistan is such a disparate concept politically that its hard to allocate blame to any particular entity in that country, they didn't have a formal government as we would understand it; Bin Laden was somewhere nearby, so they were the ginger kid in the playground getting a shoeing. Speaks volumes that he wasn't actually "found" there in the end, almost as amazing as the missing WMDs in Iraq that the world seems to have forgotten about, and were used as almost total justification for the invasion (by our own government as well, shamefully.)

Yes they will, which MPs are going to admit at PMQs that they look at online porno. Their wives might be listening.
-
I reckon the government got Deppo banned. Just saying.
-
I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't even know that had happened.
-
I think its a great idea, and one which should be extended to encompass political propaganda. You should have to opt-in to view that as well.
-
They needed a reason to invade another country entirely unassociated with 9/11, bin laden was a useful hate figure together with saddam. Shortly before the coalition invasion, US polls showed 55%+ of the US population as believing that Iraq was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. When they actually wanted to get bin laden, they somehow, astonishingly, found him. Do you still believe the b*llocks they fed us about Iraq being on the verge of wiping out the West?

edit, double post. Poxy touchscreens

Somebody had to get a kicking. Afghanistan isn't a country in the sense that we would see it, the great american public would know nothing about the place except what their government and media fed them, hey presto!!.. a villain. Job done.

That does smack of backpedalling by the chairman, tbh.

Seriously, none of them seem to have been on here for ages. I guess the washing-up really accumulates in this hot weather.
-
I notice that all of the female SWF posters are conspicuously absent from this thread. In fact, come to think of it, most of them seem to have disappeared anyway.
-
Indeed. In fact, its laughable that the US could possibly have had any other motive. Next thing you know, they'll be inventing mythical WMD's just so they can spend billions on invading Iraq in order to disarm a threat they know doesn't exist.

If you managed 2 years there, respect to you. I managed half a day, during which we got the car rammed by a lorry on the hideous traffic "system", then came close to getting stabbed in the town upon leaving said vehicle later. Still, I'm sure my permanent absence will help to free up Bristol's delights for a world eager to visit it.
-
Bristol is one of the only two places on the planet that I have visited and vowed never to return to, and I've been to some horrible places in my time. What a godawful sh*thole it is, makes p*rtsm*uth look classy.

Which shower? The camp itself, the Americans who oversee it, or the people being held there?
-
Just announced, has passed away from a heart attack, aged 60. This is not the 9'o'clock news.

Get twenty quid on that accumulator, in a few years you'll be a millionaire.

We're talking about him on here aren't we, and he's been on the news this morning because of it. I'm sure that aspect wouldn't have occurred to him though.

If there's a "few rumours on facebook", there must be something in it. Could we tempt Nigel back from Reading, do you think?
