  1. Why should they answer it? I think this is a key point to this whole thing. The defence of The Echo has been along the lines of "Well if NC said something earlier it would not have got to the point it did". Which is 100% right. However the only reason it got to the point it did was by The Echo running a story that they actually did not know was true or not. When they pressed the print button the editor knew that it was ******** what they were reporting. They knew they had no evidence to support their view. All they had was a misinterpretation of NC words a few months previous where he said he wanted to reach the playoffs. They spun their negative web on those words such is how media works. The Echo ran with the story and because NC has said nothing they acted as if it was true, that silence must mean they were right. When really all it was, was NC not wanting to talk to them. If someone had been talking crap about you around town would you want to answer questions for them if they knock on your door oneday? Obviously not, you would ignore them. The Echo acted like some national paper making up their own minds based on the back of nothing but speculation. Which as we now know was speculation they created themselves. What i find damning is their tone in their articles around this issue. They were like out for blood, as much negative info as they could get in there. Soon as the truth came out and we learn Pardew was staying they had no emotion in their report, none of the venom of which they had used in the previous day's. They did not sound happy he was staying.
  2. Here is another link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHaUgMqlNCM The quality is nowhere near as good as the other one but you get an idea. If i find a better version will post it.
  3. Some very cheaky chappy who is probably about to be a poor chappy has recorded some footage of him playing. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xdap1l_not-new_videogames Only a week to go..... Should start seeing reviews in next day or so as releases in states on 18th. This game is going to be brutal
  4. To be fair it would be a very short case. The Echo have made their feelings very clear on where they stand against NC. It would be very simple to proove this. And their behaviour of the last week is justified by the above responses. They have a code they have to abide by. If they make up stories and print them they are the ones who should be careful. Unlike the nationals they don't have the funds to pay out in damages if people decided to sue them. Make no mistake about it, NC could do The Echo for defimation of character. The origins of the story do not matter, (even though i believe it was The Echo) what matters is they persued the story and printed it as if it was fact. They set out on a campaign to tarnish NC credibility. If a national did that they would be in trouble. Maybe that is what it will take for The Echo to realise persuing it's current course is not in their interests?
  5. They were reporting news that they themselves created John, is a big difference. If you read The Mail piece and The Echo piece you notice the two are very different. The Mail piece has almost know points as to why they thought those things would happen. The Echo used very deliberate tone to their articles which was aimed at creating tension between the fans and NC. The feud between the two has been no secret. The Echo can't handle the fact nobody talks to them anymore so at every chance will snipe at the club but more importantly at NC. What we know now for 100% fact is that The Echo since Saturday have used this as their main story to run with. Look at today's front page, it is something like "Fans anger as Pardew is about to be sacked". Which was the story they wanted all along. Just the problem was there was no rift, was no meeting when they said, and was not going to be a sacking. The story was used to try and bring heat on NC. The use of old Saints legends coming out in defence of Pardew, the lines where MLT supposedly said "NC has acted poor" etc etc. All designed to make us think worse of NC. It is like a hate campaign. But there was no story, was no research, was no professional journalism and was no common sense. The Echo lied to everyone, pure and simple. As someone once said "Contreversy creates cash".
  6. Very good article. Personally i don't get how anyone can defend the echo on this, they created a story based on nothingness. To say or imply it is somehow Cortese's fault because he stayed silent is just laughable. By that logic if i write to the queen and say "i have suspicions you are actually Michael Jackson" and if she doesn't reply then it must be true!! The Echo have taken the old saying "no news is good news" and turned it into "no news means were all going to die". I feel sorry for anyone who actually pay's to read the ******** they make up.
  7. So then as most of us predicted, another load of crap to add to our growing pile of crap, no doubt more will be added to it as the weeks progress. I think what is key from NC statement is that you can see how much he cares about this project. Those people who were doubting him should re-read it a few times so that when the next time comes and rumours are not answered they can see why they are un-answered. NC did the right thing, you can't run a club by talking to the media every 5 mins, that is not his job. So well done NC you have done yourself and the club proud with your statement. Now as for The Echo....how could they get it so wrong? It is obvious there is no big rift between the two (Pardew and NC), he say's they have mutual respect and find it fun working together. That does not sound like two people who are against each other at the level they report.. The Echo need to apologise to NC,Pardew the staff at St Mary's and most of all it's readers, however many are left. They are a local newspaper, not the sun, not the mail, they are supposed to write about local events/news, not invent it to try and sell papers or create division amongst fans and club, it is pathetic.
  8. As i said before, a manager is vital for getting players in. Money is not everything. While we hear about the players who want to earn vast amounts of money we rarely hear about the players who just want to achieve things. The teams in Dubai have rich owners, they get players in, nobody cares. Good managers attract good players, what happened here with Keegan is proof of that.
  9. Indeed, those 6 people who don't want him are a few obvious people on here and NC maybe made a few alt accounts to vote
  10. If Pardew goes you can expect the current squad to be dismantled. I know for 100% FACT that the only reason Lallana stayed on last summer is because of Pardew. He spent a lot of time with Adam and convinced him to stay because he would win something here, he has done that. The players have respect for him because of his experience and his personality. If we got Cotterill in who has only really had any success in his career while managing in the 4th tier of english football do you think those players will want to stay? I can't see players like Lambert,Lallana,Fonte etc all wanting to hang around if Pardew goes. Especially if a guy with a worse record is brought in. Wether your "bothered" or not Pardew is very well respected in the footballing world, that is why he is always rumoured for top jobs, the latest being Celtic and West Ham. I can't see Cotterill's name being banded around for those jobs? The manager play's a huge part in attracting players to a club. The higher the reputation the higher the level of player.
  11. So then nothing was happening.... daily echo did the whole pardew to be sacked thing and solent did the meeting thing. Hopefully now these two will do some better researching next time. We are our own worst enemies, we look for things that are not there and over analyse everything that is reported. Enjoy the summer!

    NC

The thing is if he does do that then it is a clear statement of him saying if he is not happy he will make changes. It set's a rule by which he must now always follow. My opinion is if he does sack him and bring in someone from a lower league then that is not a footballing decision it is a spite decision and thus what is best for the club and it's fans is no longer his priority, it is to make himself happy. And at that point he becomes Rupert Lowe part 2. If your going to sack pardew then bring in someone better not gamble on a guy who has done nothing but win our 4th division title, that is not ambition.
  13. If we appoint Steve Cotterill personally i think that is going backwards. The guy has a worse record then Pardew. He won a very poor League 2. If appointing some guy who has won England's lowest league is as good as we can get then we are fooked. It is not like he is even new, he has been a manager for quite sometime. And that record is not very good imo. We should only remove Pardew if we can clearly get someone who is better. By removing him and appointing Steve is not doing that, it is a spite appointment not a footballing one and that is wrong. If that happens NC loses all my respect for him instantly.
  14. So today is the day we find out if this is all ******** or not. I am betting it is probably going to be added to our very long list of rumours we got sucked in by, again...We never learn do we! That said IF it is true Then NC has to come out and explain his actions. He said in his and ML statements and fans forum that this was a 5 year project. A project that we should be patient with and not become frustrated if results do not go our way to begin with as there is no short remedy, we have to plan for the future. etc etc So if Pardew is removed then i hope NC will put his hand up and say that when he said about this planning and being patient he was actually talking a load of ******** and what he really meant was we want success now. In my view by doing this could end up making him look bad to the fans, it could be the begining of making his first huge mistake. Because if he does replace him and someone comes in from a lower league who doesn't do well, doesn't command the respect of the players then NC will again have to change the manager. And that is when we get right back to where we were before they arrived, changing managers for stupid reasons. Removing Pardew would be one of these stupid decisions imo. Unless they have a top top manager coming in, someone who is proven and not a total muppet i.e Coleman etc..
  15. And now they belong to the FL. The PL no longer needs to discuss them. It is no longer their concern. Looking forward to see the different stance the FL will likely take
  16. I heard a rumour it was to do with the new shirt. It might have been included in a photo in the programme but they were not happy with it or something. Now i have no idea if that is true but it sounds reasonable. I doubt they would say something negative in a programme, it not be sold and nobody leak it seeing as there would of been thousands of them.
  17. I think it shows how far we have come that we are now one of these speculation clubs with wild rumour after wild rumour. The problem is we have two guy's at the helm of the club who don't talk much. Unlike our previous people in charge who took every chance they could to speak to the media these guy's don't want to do that. Personally i prefer that aproach. It is more professional. But because of that we let our minds run free. When someone say's something and it is not rejected we think therefore it must be true or have some "smoke"! Which is just crazy. Looking at the way ML hugged Pardew and lifted his hand at Wembley does not strike me as someone not happy. Him not getting to the game is most likely down to the planes not flying due to the ash. The meeting is most likely to do a review of the season before the players are released on a summer break. That happens at every club. You would expect it to happen. If NC came out and denied every rumour then people would say he was in the media too much. If he came out and backed Pardew people would say it was the dreaded vote of confidence etc etc The best thing they can do is to continue to carry on in the same way we have over the past 6 months. If we have bought this guy from Brighton then that shows someone is making player decisions in terms of buying/selling and you have to say NC is not the guy who would do that. He has stated many times he will have nothing to do with the footballing side of the business. Would they be bringinig in new players if the manager was about to be fired? Doubtful. The problem is us and the media. We create our own stories as we like drama. 99.9% of the time nothing happens. Just like that interview he gave when everyone was saying he stormed out and was being sacked the next day etc...Weds will come and go and were talk about something else maybe happening the following friday, then that doesn't happen and we make a new one. Best thing to do now on is assume everything you read is wrong. Because with our new financial level in football we will have rumours happening constantly.
  18. I wonder if nc,pardew etc will be aware of this poll as it is pretty conclusive.
  19. With all the rumours flying around with Celtic and others interested, NC potentially not happy etc.. it would be good to see what the fans think now the season has ended. So based on our performance this year under Pardew would you want him to stay on? My answer yes, without a shadow of a doubt!

    NC

Exactly. We would become one of those clubs i really hate who sack people on a game by game basis. We won 23 league games this year and lost only 9, got far in fa cup and won jpt. Pardew has done very well and has earnt the right to build over the summer and remain our manager next year. It goes to show how far we as a club have come from this time last year. We will have a summer of rumours for players/staff in and out. Until NC comes out and say's he is backing Pardew the media will have a field day.
  21. What i find quite funny about reading their comments is that they think they are richer then us. For a group of people who claim to know so much about "****hole southampton" you would of thought they would know we have a multi-billionaire owner now.... But money aside, maybe the guy just wants to achieve something in his career by moving up the leagues. Poyet in his interview said we are like the Man City of the lower leagues. I think he is wrong we are more like Chelsea. We spend money but only on players who actually make us better helping us to win things. Man City waste money on people who could not give a crap about the club and thus won't win anything.
  22. Hammond. When he has been out of the side we have struggled. Morgan has missed him when he hasen't played alongside him. One of the main things i have noticed this season in comparison to last season is organisation. He has helped a lot with that on the field and i think overall has done a fine job. Has also got on the score sheet a few times and helped set stuff up. Morgan has had a decent season and when he has been replaced by Wotten or James we have looked very weak. So was out of those two for me. I think Dean has brought a huge amount of professionalism into the team that has been lacking for sometime. It is one of those seasons were you could argue any of them deserve it. Which means we have been playing well.
  23. To be honest i think it needs to be sorted fast. You can't have a system that is biased towards the party in power. Look at it like this Conservatives gained over 100 seats, while Labour lost nearly 100, conservatives had over 2m more votes then labour, if you look at the election map england is now vastly blue, lib dems got a hammering and actually did a lot worse then the last election. Conservatives have about 50-60 more mps elected then labour. But they don't win? How is it we could potentially have a prime minister who not only got less votes but a **** load less votes, has never won an election, got pm because someone else retired, and has obviously been rejected by nearly 100 previous labour constituency? However you look at it based on votes and seat gains conservatives won, they have the most seats based on this election. This election shows how hard it is to get rid of a party already in goverment. It is like those carnival games that are rigged so you can't win.
  24. So even with the change Lib Dems would still be down on their results from last election. Which i guess shows most people didn't buy the bull**** they were spouting on tv.
  25. Maybe they are increasing the debt on purpose to lower the % of unsecured creditors i.e HMRC. Would not surprise me. At the end of the day though they won't have got away with it. The club's reputation will forever be tarnished in financial circles. Legit companies will do a lot of research into the people involved before they ever agree to lend them money again. They will be in CCC with a dire squad, no money and by the looks of things a new manager. They will struggle next year i think to just stay in CCC.
