  1. Good point. Although did he have as many players out of contract/loan I wonder? Ahh the football karma. Surely administration is like the fourth state of conciousness where our actions do not accumulate karma? And anyway won't we have paid our karma debt by the time we hit League 1? I mean an FA cup final and European football to technically not existing at the moment - that's some pay back.
  2. Agree with the theory of this but in practice won't multiple competing bids mean simply a better return for the company's creditors? Mark Fry is employed to do best by them, not by the football club or its fans. In all likelihood multiple competing bids means more money will be needed to acquire the club which in turn could mean less cash for the club to operate with.

  4. I feel torn on this as I believe that most of our problems in recent years can be traced to manager turnover. So I'm inclined to give Wotte more time. That said I've seen very little evidence that he's up to the job and assuming we're in business next season and assuming we might have to completely rebuild the squad, I do wonder whether he has the right experience. Therefore I voted "No". But if he's in place next season I'll support him.
  5. Hmm. I read it that as an administrator he might be working on plans for asset disposal. i.e. if he doesn't receive an offer to buy Saints, as an administrator he needs a plan b to do his job of ensuring that the creditors are looked after as best as possible.
  6. I tend to agree with this. That said if the rules can be exploited I wouldn't be surprised to see us try. If we didn't appeal I would imagine there would be many who who ask why. I have two questions about the Plc and FC being inextricably linked. Ironically, would we have been better off with that white elephant of a radio station and Southampton Insurance Services? In that this would have been a non-football revenue stream. Secondly, if it were possible ( forgetting the practicalities ) to host a concert at St. Marys every 7 days. Surely the Plc would be receiving a strong revenue stream not related to the football club? So us failing to host concerts every 7 days might have been the reason that the Plc is in administration rather than our football team's ineptitude. I'm sure our appeal will be full of such straw clutching.
  7. Very good!
  8. Mark Wotte was in shock after he learned that his application to be on "Holland's Got Talent" had been turned down on a point of principle.
  9. The bloke in the black jacket drinking the bottled beer is either really small or that beer bottle is enormous!
  10. I can see the logic but given the fragmented (and public) ownership of the share capital, no one of the Directors would want to "gift" money to the rest of the share holders. Imagine Crouch giving a chunk of change somewhere north of the entire market capitalisation of the Plc, which gives him nothing in terms of greater control and is effectively lining everyone else's pockets. A new share issue would be the only way to have done it. But in this climate, that would likely not work. Having said all that I take your point as their once large investments are now worthless. Perhaps they each realised that this had to happen.
  11. Rudi was used to being carried by his team during a game - but never before by the opposition.
  12. On reflection FTF, yes that was a mistake. I don't know what I was thinking of. I just didn't think! Mods can we please remove the emboldened text in this thread? Alternatively, we could simply make up links to other potential billionaires and embolden their names to throw people off the scent of all the real billionaires that are genuinely looking to buy us. Branson. That's my bit of obfuscation.
  13. Sorry Amesbury Saint I should have added an ironic smiley as the original post was obviously a wind-up. I stand by my stupid post comment though.
  14. I just hope that you will be able to live with yourself if any of these billionaires pull out because you revealed their intentions during what must be sensitive negotiations. Stupid post IMO.

  16. Right now the answer is a qualified "yes". Qualified because if Rupert were to win a 20-fold Euro Millions mega roll-over and tried to buy the club, I'd be a bit peeved. And sadly wealth doesn't stop you being an egotistical tw*t as Hearts found out. In fact some might say that the traits you need to amass that much wealth wouldn't necessarily lead you to being the most benevolent of dictators.
  17. Soupy twist!
  18. Principles are important and I can understand the principles you appear to be defending. That said, principles are really tested in extreme times and we live in extreme times. I would frame the question another way.... This artwork does not cease to exist once it is sold, it presumably just becomes easier to access (assuming it doesn't go into a private collection). If we don't find a financial solution to our problems then we could quite easily cease to exist.
  19. A distraught Rupert Lowe struggles to come to terms with the financial implications of his 6% shareholding in SLH being worth less than this scarf.
  20. Paraphrasing Darren Hanlon, and thinking about his manifesto volte face, how about? "These are my principles. If you don't like them, I've got others" or "I'm down to my last 30 pieces or silver" or "I fooled some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but now I'm skint" or "At least I'm more popular than Sir Fred Goodwin"
  21. Mark Wotte's touchline instructions confused the team at first, but telling McGoldrick to take up a position at the back of the Chapel Stand seemed to improve the team's performance.

    RIP car

As we're now on to coaches, I'll add this Saw Saints away at Villa with a couple of mates, can't remember the year but Claus was sent off and I think Neil Moss was in goal. One for the stattos. Anyway we travelled up on the coach one mate is Saints mad and has followed them since he was 5, the other mate was a Johnny-come-lately football fan - played rugby at school but then followed football because it was fashionable. We'd had a fair skinfull of beer and had been on the coach for hours when we passed a sign on the M6 saying Birmingham was 10 miles away. My Johnny-come-lately mate says "Birmingham? What are we doing in Birmingham?". To which we say we're going to see Saints v Villa. He says, "I thought Aston Villa was a London club!". Well you can imagine the uproar on the coach. Everyone spent the rest of the journey there and back saying "cokney" phrases in a Brum accent. "Up the apples and pears me ol' china. Fancy a ruby?" Classic. Oh and the game was also memorable because I caught the ball behind Moss' goal after a Villa shot. I threw it back to him and waved to the camera. But despite recording Match of the Day, the shot didn't make the edit.
  23. He knew from the look on Rupert's face that he would pay for it at some point in the future, but right now Michael was enjoying the best p1ss he had ever had.
