He probably doesn't know or care about their history/ground/city he just knows they are in the EPL.

He bought pompey because they are in the premiership whereas we were in the championship. I doubt he has even heard of the championship.

There were plenty of those before he was in charge. I don't think he did a good job but I think the real problem was that our players were ****ing useless, with few exceptions. The fact that Size was voted 2nd best player of the season says it all really, considering he was only there for half of it.

I reckon the gate will be similar to last season, although if we're at the top of the table perhaps we'll get close to 20,000

Exactly, Wotte could/should have done a better job but he was manager for less than half the season. Some (most) of our players were **** for the whole season, that was the real problem.

I'm not sure that's entirely fair. Although it is the job of the manager to get his players motivated and playing well or at least putting the effort in, he'd have had as much luck getting blood from a stone as he would getting good performances from that useless bunch of players. I think he made some good decisions in terms of changing the formation and team selection when he first got the job, but he also made some fairly crap decisions (ie playing Ryan Smith and playing Ryan Smith on the right). Unless there's a good alternative I wouldn't mind him staying.
