  1. Sadly, Tommy won't be able to prove this until he goes on loan to another club........and plays.
  2. Thankfully my "dead end job" doesn't have a shelf life, and I know I could probably acquire another equal paying job elsewhere. Same can't be said for everyone......
  3. Get well soon Dan, I hope your recovery is speedy
  4. Another cringeworthy post. DC is currently top scorer in the championship, and is certainly no fluke as we've looked great in our first 5 games. I agree, another striker would certainly bolster our ranks (4 decent strikers are needed for any decent league campaign), but to say our current crop aren't up to the job is silly. I'd have been gutted had we spanked a shedload of cash on someone like Jay Rodriguez (who scored 10 championship goals last year), and am glad we've not been held to ransom over anyone. We do deals on our terms, it needs to be the right player at the right price. Just remember what happened last time we "threw money at it"......
  5. Why "obvious"? You've just plucked two names out of the hat, surely?
  6. Does the 25 man squad rule apply to the football league? If so, it's very unlikely we'll be signing anyone on loan, unless they're home grown and under the age of 21.
  7. FACUP1976 - Would you be happy to provide us with a summary of the Q&A from this dinner? Would be very interested to hear what Mr Cortese has to say.
  8. Excuse me being naive, but why have you been invited? Is this an invite to random season ticket holders?
  9. Isn't this just a pap version of google? You can find all kinds of stuff there.
  10. Not really. If we've got designs on getting out of this league, we need the quality to match it. I've absolutely no problem with Seabourne as he gives his all every game, but can you really see him playing in the Premier League?
  11. Always someone that ruins a perfectly good thread, isn't there?
  12. lol - too many people seem obsessed with signing this Le Fondre chap. Why? He scores goals in league two, but so do a lot of people. Definitely no better than what we already have.
  13. Old re-hashed news. Think we should put the Rodriguez rumour to bed really - I'd be shocked if we paid £6 million for any player, especially so given the deals that have "broken down" recently.
  14. As would Ali Dia..........actually, he might not this time as we're not in the Premiership.
  15. A year or so ago i'd have said i'm sorry to see him go, good player, likeable lad etc. However, given our current abundance of left backs, it's good to offload one. Good luck Joseph, got the potential to do well at Reading. Hope to see you in a Reading Nandos with the other Reading players I keep seeing soon.
  16. Why would he want to goto Palace anyway, he's started the last two league games.
  17. Ok, so suppose Man Utd come in with a £17 million pound bid (same amount they paid for Ashley Young) tomorrow for Lallana, whilst he's very much our best player, wouldn't it be bonkers to turn that kind of money down??
  18. Nope, you're absolutely right, there are plenty of players in this league that'll be on crazy wages. Half the West Ham team is of course a good example. Nolan is a proven Premiership player, and West Ham are a club laden with debt. Gold and Sullivan look as though they're chucking money at it this season and gambling on returning to the Premiership at the first attempt. They should do, but if they don't, they're potentially screwed (even with taking parachute payments into account).
  19. Ha, indeed. Good post, and interesting opinion, by the way. I do believe he wants a sustainable club, but we are of course spending now to achieve that. Of course, reaching the "promised land" is the best way of getting to "sustainability", but as you rightly point out, UEFA's financial fair play rules will limit what you're able to do. Cortese comes from a business background, he's not just going to throw money around.
  20. I'd be absolutely shocked if he was on £25k a week, especially so given the recent comments from Adkins about "not breaking the wage structure". We've got to be realistic, we're a championship club. Championship clubs can't afford to pay silly wages, especially so with the new financial fair play rules in place.
  21. I'd be shocked if that didn't have a large increase upon reaching the Premier League. Plus, contracts can be torn up, and replaced with even bigger contracts
  22. We are in a position to reward players, correct - however, Cortese wants a sustainable club - hence the heavy investment in the academy. I don't think he's paying any of our players "silly" wages, and I don't think he ever will (Billy Sharp, anyone?). Besides, £10k a week is hardly slave labour now, is it?
  23. But what is "Premiership" wages, exactly? It's certainly not the £170,000 a week Adebayor is on. I honestly don't think he's on more than £10,000 a week. Adam loves the club, loves the area, and I can't see him ever leaving unless our hand was forced.
  24. I was following it on Twitter (great way to do it, hook yourself up to the official saints page), whilst watching a programme about dwarves on channel 4. Awesome!
