  1. Going absolutely f***ing mental when I got a text from my Dad to tell me we were 3-0 up at Plymouth and basically going up. Missus wasn't too pleased, we were having a nice romantic afternoon meal to celebrate our anniversary. Look on her face was priceless
  2. There's no evidence to suggest that he would, either. Jemal would be a "punt", just like Steve De Ridder is, effectively.
  3. It's been reported in the media from various sources, including national newspapers. Suppose this begs the question should we believe everything we read? We know very little, at the end of the day.
  4. lol!! I'm sure we'll pay his £50k a week wages, absolutely sure of it.
  5. Excellent point well made. I've never heard of him, or have any idea how good he is. Gorks know's what the championship is about - on that basis, I'd bite QPR's hand off for that deal (especially if we're getting a reported £500k cash payment as well).
  6. Do you have a link to this?
  7. Why is everyone so confident we're in for this Jemmal character?
  8. I note what you're saying, but Scott McDonald and Kris Boyd played for Celtic and Rangers respectively, where chances are obviously going to be made for them given the gulf in quality with the rest of the SPL. Goodwillie plays for Dundee
  9. Had this been posted on facebook, it'd have been a "like" from me
  10. I reckon we should be thinking about making a bid for this chap: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14286377.stm £2 million seems quite reasonable considering his scoring record. Also, can you imagine having Goodwillie and Guly up front? Could you get a more comic sounding strike partnership?
  11. This thread is immense.
  12. Another pointless, pointless thread. Given the crazy spending when we first landed in the championship, I'm happy we're being more cautious with our signings this time around. It's not like we don't have money to spend if we're bidding £3.25 million for the likes of Billy Sharp. No point adding players just for the sake of it.
  13. If there was to be a press conference, it's highly likely Mr Sibley would have said so on his Twitter account. As it goes, nothing has been posted since Saturday - so highly unlikely to materialise in my opinion
  14. Born in Reading. Growing up in the 80's though, every kid at primary school of course, supported Liverpool, I was no different. It was spring, i was 6 years old, and my Dad had always supported the Saints since he was a boy (my Grandad was with the navy and for a while they were stationed at Gosport, but went to see the Saints rather than P*mpey as it was cheaper at the time). I was at the garden centre with my old man, and Liverpool had beaten the Saints 3-2, and I was winding him up about it (in a childish way too - shouting "3-2!!" at every available opportunity). We bought various plants, went back to the car, Dad got in, but locked me out the car. Wound down the window and said "only Southampton fans get lifts back home". I balled my eyes out for 10 minutes, before agreeing to be a Southampton fan. 24 years later, I'm still a Saints fan, and very proud of it!
  15. Glad those anti natal classes are finally paying off
  16. Think £3.25m is better spent strenghtening other areas of the team imo
  17. Nope, they've been saying it pretty much since he joined them!
  18. I've a lot of mates who are Reading fans, and they all seem to think he's a bit of a liability at times, and lacks pace. More to the point, they're shocked (and delighted) they're getting £5 million for him! No way would I want us to spend this amount of money on any player whilst we're in the championship, especially Matt Mills!
  19. Andre Villa-Boas isn't exactly what you'd regard as a "big name", but I can't imagine he won't be able to attract talent to Chelsea. Not quite the same scale, but Southampton is Southampton, I'm not sure how much the manager's reputation will be a factor in whether a player joins or not.
  20. Good to see the big man back. Was a big fan of him when Strachan snapped him up (although hesitant at first, but quickly changed my opinion with some committed performances), so good luck! Sure he'll do an excellent job.
  21. Still on Jordan Sibley's twitter feed. I feel we've been a lot more open about potential transfers than we have been, confirming the bid for Sharp, no bids for Ox and the only club to have had a bid accepted for Jack Cork. JC would be a great signing imo - come on Jack, get on the bus!
  22. He's no Ryan Dickson
  23. In fairness, when we signed him, there was no mention of the infamous "with a view to a permanent deal". I firmly believe he was a stop gap for whilst Schneiderlin was injured.
  24. Man up - tell her you'll be romantic when YOU choose to be, not when dictated by some commercial date in everyone's diaries. If you're not willing to man up, then at the very least tell her to adhere to the "man" version of Valentines Day, which is Steak & BJ day on the 14th of March (has it's own website and everything )
