  1. Reckon that Lionel Messi would be fairly ambitious - given we want to be Barcelona, it'd be a good start
  2. Good work on loving NFL - I'm a Giants fan myself. Recently, the Giants vs Eagles game last season was voted game of the season, and I was there!YES! Great thread by the way, I do wonder what I do with myself when the football season's over. I never remember in past years what I've got upto. Should probably spend some time with the missus or something. Anyway, as for me, gym, cinema, cooking, rowing (regatta season at present, so that keeps me busy some weekends), holidays and counting down the days until our first pre-season friendly!
  3. Agreed -he was a great keeper for us. I also agree with others that, at the time, I found it odd we sold Maik Taylor for a pittance and snapped up Jones for £1 million +, however, he was a good servant for us, and did win us plenty of points. As I recall, he was instrumental in our cup run in 2003, Niemi was injured, but then he wasn't picked for the final - but was glad to see him come on when Niemi got injured.
  4. Great start to a thread! Player's i'd take: Bebe (purely for the Ali Dia analogy) Almunia (good replacement for Tommy Forecast) Bridgey (obviously:P) Halford (just to spite P*mpey)
  5. Ah, I see. In that case, it would be Kelvin all the way!
  6. No-one would keep Niemi ahead of Kelvin? Don't get me wrong, I love Kelvin, but for me, Niemi is quite possibly the best keeper we ever had - believe he played for us first half of our first championship season
  7. Hey, don't knock Rosler - scored the last ever goal at the Dell
  8. I once accidentally fish hooked Matt Le Tissier on his way to the gantry at St Mary's in my depseration to touch him.
  9. I don't reckon West Ham will be top six - imagine their squad will get absolutely humped in the close season - huge wage bill. They'll finish 12th! Also - I'd hold off with your predictions until after the play off final
  10. Also just listened to the interview - agree that he said nothing wrong - merely just said he would like to stay in the Premiership. Not a bad word about Saints, if anything, he was complimentary. Clearly, something's not worked out for him here - and that's fine, hope we get maximum money for him and hope he goes on to do well.
  11. The sooner we're rid of him - the better. Always was of the opinion this season, when he played for us, he was almost deliberately trying to play bad. The amount of times he banjoed balls over the bar from 6 yards out was amazing - especially given the performances he put in for Millwall and Blackpool this year. Hope you get what you want Punch!
  12. Apologies for being naive - but who is "AD"? I'd understand an NA, AC, or an NC, at a push.......
  13. Absolutely 2005. We'd been in the Premiership my whole life, and the thought of not playing at Old Trafford, Anfield etc, and having to play at the Withdean and Oakwell the next season made me sick to my stomach. Was resigned to relegation in 2009 as soon as we closed the corners of our stadium, and David McGoldrick was our "talisman".
  14. also, i'm quite bitter I'll be missing the last game of the season to - inconsiderately, one of my best mates decided to get married that day, and apparently it's bad karma for me to not go to their wedding. Gutted
  15. I'd like us to lose. We will then have had the double done over us by Walsall and Rochdale, but still achieved promotion. Will have to see what Poyet has to say about that one!
  16. Legends! Love to see our players mix with our fans
  17. He's like a new pacey version of Brett Ormerod. We've got John-athon Forte We've got John-athon Forte WE'VE GOT John-athon Forte WE'VE GOT John-athon Forte
  18. This whole story has got to be rubbish - why would we snap up some random nigerian bloke that no-one's ever heard of prior to the end of the season? Make's no sense whatsoever. Plus - he's unlikely to have mega-bucks - so why would he buy a house in Southampton?
  19. lol - the only thing I don't like about this statement is that I was beaten to the punch!
  20. Ulrich Van Gobbel Played 8 times for Holland Received a 4 months prison sentence for buying cars on credit and selling them without paying the car company...... .....but has never been located by the dutch police so that he could do his time.
  21. Yup - anelka left for Chelsea - Bolton replaced him with Rasiak on loan. lol
  22. Lightning quick. Could do the 100m in 8.98 seconds apparently.
  23. Lol - great thread. I just can't hate Pele, purely for the fact that between Christmas and New Year we beat Leicester 2-0 at home, and Pele scored from a cross from Jesus. How many football fans can say that?? (ok, about 32,000, but still)
  24. From Jordan Sibley's twitter just now: "Paperwork of a new signing has just been completed, now for the mad rush to get it announced"
  25. Just gutted we're going to be selling him.
