It's frequently quoted that promotion to the Prem is worth £100 m. So I don't think anybody will be buying Lampard for a figure much less than that.

If we don't appoint him you can be sure another club maybe in the Championship or league 1 will come in for him. What about the Skates ? That possibility doesn't even bear thinking about !! Imo he at the very least deserves the certainty of a decent extension with an option to appoint, However in the absence of any official announcement nobody outside the club knows what is going on. the current situation isn't very dignified for him.
-
The players look as if they are right behind him and enjoying playing again. He had the international break to instill confidence and coach them and on this evidence it has worked. Who could we get who can improve on this, it didn't look as if it was a flash in the pan. The Leicester game will be a real test of how far we have come. If however he does turn out to be really good we wont keep him long -just like Poch who was unknown and untested when he came to us IMO he must now be given a good run of games before we go bungling around looking for experience. Hopefully we have struck really lucky

It is unrealistic to call for Sports Republic to go because , they own the club, it's their money, and they would have to want to sell to a willing buyer at a profit. Having said that though, they must be wondering where there investment is going or has gone. A massive shake up at all levels of management is surely required. As for Will Still, well although I follow from afar and my health only allows me to watch on TV, I seriously wonder if he is the right man for the job. If you want to see what a good manager can do then just look at Lampard at Coventry. Perhaps Still is too cerebral and not inspirational enough for this league. Have Coventry more money than us, have they got the parachute payments, yet they looked very good at the end of last season. The contribution the right manager can make is intangible, but remember when we found Pochetino, Our league position is dire however you look at things.

I watched the game on Sky and I felt I had wasted my time. Yes we were dominant but the commentator called our attack powder puff and I thought it was an apt description. No height in attack in a physical league is very dubious. I wondered if there is a place to play Manning in a midfield position, at least he can hit a barn door from 5 yards.

Book myself into The Priory ( the psychiatric hospital of the wealthy)

He lives very close to Royston so its very easy by train Besides which he'd have just as much disappointment if he followed Cambridge, unfortunately their glory days were when my son was very young and we went very often He may even watch a few wins with Arsenal I never thought I'd say this but as his other grandparents are moving away from Bournemouth a trip to watch Saints is prohibitevly expensive

I perceive it to be pretty obvious that it is now extremely difficult to stay in the Prem if promoted unless you make some very good signings of underalued or undiscovered players The fact that Leicester are struggling despite having possibly the best squad of the promoted sides pretty much confirms this. WE have to face some extremely talented players almost every week and have not enough talented players to win. it is pointless blaming or vilifying individual players when they are just not as good as the opposition it's not really their fault i feel sorry for my grandson who was really excited at the beginning of the season and had an Adam Armstrong shirt bought for him I rather hope he will support his nearest good club Arsenal as its an easy train ride away. I thought I had had experienced all the emotions possible in 65 years of following Saints but no season has come near to the disappointment and apathy I feel now. I don't even bother watching MOTD most weeks now. There is an interesting article saying the Pep system doesn't work any more against fast breaking teams. Anyway Inow I've got that off my chest I've given up on this season

I agree insofar as if we had really class players it could .However we don't have those players in the Prem but we have them playing against us,. when I watched Chelsea concede the first two goals yesterday I thought it was like watching Saints. However They have got two teams of class players to put a bad start right. I think it was a brave experiment which worked in the Championship (just); but was doomed to failure in the Prem. Its probably too late now but we need to adapt our play to the players we have rather than the other way round. I conclude he must go now, especially his results against some of the teams we had to beat were abysmal.
-
I was always told that to continue doing the same thing and to expect different results was a good working definition of insanity. Unfortunately we just don't seem to learn.
-
The worst thing about this season is that now I don't really care any more. Relegation now looks inevitable and I've been avoiding watching MOTD. I've never felt like this about them in almost 70 years of supporting them. Can't even get annoyed anymore, Ha we've just scored [ now can we possibly hold onto a lead. No we've given it away immediately. Unbelievable !!!!!! Can't even be bothered to swear any more. Thank goodness for VAR.

One thing that stuck out a mile to me was that Dibling was being bullied off the ball every time he touched it. I would have thought that he was either moved onto the wing and a striker who could cope with their centre back brought on or replaced. It was embarrassing to watch and none of his team mates helped him. I was also astonished how much pushing and grappling was allowed. They my have stopped the crunching tackles of my youth but in my day these tactics would have been dealt with by our hard men. Personally I think he'll either be sacked imminently or left to play the season out and see what transpires. I'd like to see if "tall Paul" can be effective as a target man.

Thank's Saints for ruining my birthday in the last minute

The main problem as I see it is that the are many fast and skilful forwards in the Prem who will be watching and waiting for mistakes I just can't see how his insistence on fannying around at the back with our players is going to work. I'm dreading seeing what the best Prem forwards will do to us if we continue like this.
-
How can anyone get so many outstanding players to play so badly? The phrase "Lions led by a donkey" comes to my mind ( With apologies to all the WW1 heroes.)
-
I just hope we can control Fellowes on their right wing and avoid making stupid mistakes when playing it out from the back. At least the opposition can't score from row Z.
-
When the going gets tough the Saints .......? My insertion would be capitulate.

Having read the article in The Guardian this morning, I shall be reasonably happy if we don't go up. For instance screwing Everton and Forest in FFP, when their entire team is probably worth less than a coup;e of players from the big boys. Do we really want to be a Burnley? I accept that Brentford have done amazingly well and Brighton and Bournemouth too, but you have to be very lucky to survive unless owned by megawealth.

It's very disappointing of course, but for goodness sake keep some perspective one loss in 25 games!! My worry is that we looked mentally tired unless it was the pitch with so many passes going astray. Friday isn't the best game to recover, and there isn't much chance to get properly refreshed.
-
From the matches I've seen on TV we are playing against at least 7 defenders packed into the last quarter of the pitch Martin has to counter these stifling tactics how without changing a very successful run I'm not sure. Perhaps we should try going for the jugular immediately and try to score very early which effectively negates the point of the opposition just sitting back. Even Man City are feeling the loss of de Bruyne to find the telling pass. of course we can never hope for anyone so good, but we seem to lack midfield creativity except perhaps S Armstrong.Personally Id start him and take him off at half time rather than the reverse

No VAR, you don't have to wait ages for some minute decision. The offside law should be altered so that there is clear daylight between players, not half a nose, and the sight of players having to have their hand behind their back to me is utterly ridiculous. I'm really enjoying this season, but my Burnley supporting cousin isn't very happy. I'm beginning to wonder whether the "super rich clubs shouldn't be allowed to break away, but it would kill the golden goose of the Premiership
-
Not strictly on topic but I watched Sunderland v Weat Brom at lunchtime and thought Sunderland looked impressive, definitely a potential promotion challenger on that form.
-
I'll ask my cousin a Burnley supporter, At the moment I'm enjoying the Championship but when I watch City today I realise that our realistic ambition is to remain in position 10 to 15 if we were promoted. I'll leave the call to those fortunate to be able to attend regularly, although I must admit I'm considering trying to get a home game in this year which I haven't thought worth the considerable expense and effort at my age for many years.

Just goes to show that referees can't win. I too thought the ref penalised Saints for every offence and let Leeds getaway with exactly the same things. Amazed she thought he was woeful. The quality of refereeing is obviously in the eye of the beholder.

I worked in Stoke for a while and enjoyed it, really nice down to earth people. Became friendly with their physio and got free tickets including to the league cup final Saints v Forest. In those days it was a prosperous town then with thriving pottery and mining industries guaranteeing full employment. Those of a certain age might remember the darts from Jollies nightclub with the purple mushroom tablelights. Saw a few big names there. The Wicked Witch soon put paid to its prosperity though. I lived in beautiful countryside just outside, like many northern and midland industrial towns it was surrounded by beautiful countryside and in Stoke's case the peak district. Unfortunately the less said about the company the better, and I left the most beautiful view from my house far too soon. BTW the weather in Stoke isn't too bad, but in the peak district plenty of snow.
