Thanks for that.
First time I had been up there since the 1969-70 Fairs Cup when I was a nipper. A mate had just moved up there and we were staying in his flat, which was in Leazes Square 100 yds from the away section. We had a magnificent night celebrating the win and got back to see this at about 4am on video and we are in the crowd scene after the goal. Remember the local bints we took back weren't too impressed with the constant rewinding of that bit.
Haven't missed a match weekend up there since.
Quite unlike someone I know who did a load of building work for him and had to have a summons issued to get paid. Before he started the job NC was "a great bloke". Afterwards, somewhat different.
Agreed. So it is strange that this latest "scoop" goes into such detail. Also, when did Luke go to Holland to meet Van Gaal and how come that toothy tosser from SSN, who has been stalking Van Gaal for the past week, miss him.
No. He came out with the legendary quote after we were knocked out in the 2nd round, having only played the last 20 mins in the tournament due to injury.
"all I'm interested in is getting fit for the new season with Southampton."
We then signed Shilton, (no glass ceilings around then:rolleyes:) only for KK to bug ger off for the "challenge". The challenge of an indecent salary subsidised by Scottish & Newcastle brewery.
Bitter? Moi?
I preferred the BTC Ground in Stoneham Lane, which is where the last Southampton B team played. They were in the old Wednesday League in the 1960's and I used to watch them from my back garden. The Southampton A team played in the Hampshire League on the Saturdays, on the same pitch.
