  1. Possibly but how would he know him?
  2. Although I agree with your sentiments the only way we can progress to the Premiership is if we win games regularly. At the moment we are not until that happens the thought of getting to the Premiership is not realistic and that is what is concerning some fans. Although confidence is a good thing it should be tinged with realism as well
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2009/09/back_from_the_brink_southampto.html#146591 Well Well Well an interesting read Cortese's plan is for the club to win promotion from League One in two seasons and reach the Premier League in five years. He does not expect Liebherr to enjoy a return on his investment until the club returns to the top flight but reckons Saints can break even in the Championship. In the meantime, there are funds available for Pardew to mould his squad.
  4. It will eventually work out but it may not involve Pardew and I think it will take longer than five
  5. I doubt that you have any idea New managers usually bring in new staff when they are appointed
  6. Well I think you could be wrong In lots of cases sacking the manager improves the situation but of course not always . If it was such a bad idea Chairman would not do it that often. Norwich seem to be doing OK at the moment as do Colchester and Charlton after sacking Pardew Dont know any other new managers in League 1 Harry is not doing too bad at Spurs either after they sacked Ramos The only place it does not seem to work is at St Mary's so perhaps we should have kept Wotte or even JP
  7. Plan for life in League 2 I would have thought and recruit Sol because he will like our training facilities
  8. Well you learn something new each day;)
  9. Steve Coppell probably the first choice anyway
  10. I dont know either but I doubt it is complimentary Made be a golfing term like a bogey
  11. We had a new start with Mr Wilde and that nearly worked out until the money ran out Results were a lot better even with Burley in charge
  12. I dont think Stuart Gray was capable of stability never understood why he was appointed as results were poor in the games he was in charge after Hoddle left. But lets face it there are not many consistently good managers anyway Apart from Bruce Moyes and possibly Allardyce away from the top teams
  13. It has already taken four years and we are now in the worst league position since I have been supporting the Saints in almost fifty years. Blind faith is not in my makeup - your last phrase could have been spoken by a religous zealot
  14. No his problem was he had no money to enhance the team - something we dont have now
  15. The team was pretty rubbish as well I would have thought when we got relegated with a geriatic defence That was the time we needed Markus after the 2003 Cup Final when we needed finance to improve the team/squad
  16. What is the long term plan. Iit is difficult to comment without knowing its content
  17. Well if you are happy with one win out of ten and are not worried about the future under Pardew that is OK by me. But other people are concerned that despite money being spent on the squad to improve it results are not at all good. Usually it is very difficult to address poor results which proved the case with Pardew at Charlton so there is always the possibility he will fail. However there is the possibility that things will improve but nothing is certain so lets hope we start winning soon . With regard to minus 10 Leeds if I remember were in administration on -15 but managed to win lots of games and got to the playoffs
  18. Yes but where are they today after finishing below us last season.
  19. So why was Pardew sacked at Charlton I wonder Possibly was not that good
  20. Are you suggesting that we kept JP Gray or Wigley because I think they were the ones sacked Hoddle Strachan Redknapp Burley left for Pastures new Sturrock did not fancy the job and Pearson was too costly possibly Mind you I agree that stability is a good thing but not that common theses days except at the top clubs
  21. Perhaps Markus was over for the game and just wanted to get an update from Cortese
  22. Yes agreed things went really wrong last season around Christmas when we were unable to beat fellow strugglers at home this has not happened this season and unlikely to happen however if it does something will have to be done
  23. Well said my point too. I would really be interested what they were trying to do in training
  24. Yes I agree however if by March we are not playing well perhaps things could change. In the meantime we are surely going to beat the other clubs around the relegation zone
  25. Unfortunately I dont think Pardew maybe the long term solution but I dont see the point of sacking him because it is very likely that we will beat most of the teams in the bottom part of the league and move away from the relegation places by January. However if results dont improve in the spring that is another point.
