  1. Looked okay at the back, but I can't see him get forward like James did last season
  2. he might have been aiming for Lallana but it went to James:rolleyes:
  3. Doesanyone know what the attendance was?
  4. My thoughts on today Firstly - that Dutch total football is really quite good, isn't it? Actually Ajax looked a class above throughout, though we had the better chances in the first half. Second half it really did look men against boys Yet again 4-5-1 looked pants Plenty of food for thought for Mr Pardew Players ratings Davis - 8 - Could have been worse without him Murty - 6 - looks a solid old pro, but looked even less likely to cross the halway line than Jermaine Wright Molyneux - 6 - okayish, but not as good as Mills Thomas - 7 - looked solid, but a careless challenge for the pen Perry - 7.5 - getting a bit slow, but class is permanent Wotton - 5 - crashed about a bit, but still looks a league lower than the one we're in Gillett - 7 - busy and nice touches, but seemed to be playing too far up the pitch James - 6 - (actually 5 in midfield, 7 as right back) Looked a bit lost at times in midfield. Their long ball style kept missing it out and we were playing so deep that there was never a forward pass to make. Looked happier and more involved at right back Lallana - 7- looked like he could have made the Ajax first eleven, but then there wasn't a lot of rough and tumble today Rasiak - 7 - tried quite hard (for him), but way too isolated. Got a seven because at least he held the ball up which never happened in second half Mills - 7.5 - going to one of the rising stars next season, looked good in both positions, he and James as fullbacks gives us real attacking options subs Lancashire - 6 - okay, but no more Saganowski - 5 - not a lone striker. Will he ever score for us again Thomson - 5 - looked too lightweight Schneiderlin - 6.5 - similar comments to Lallana - this is not a league one game Paterson - 5.5 - looked too lightweight, but why wasn't he put up front where he belongs McNish - 5.5 - not much of a chance to shine
  5. Two out of three ain't bad... Effort and commitment fine. Skill - no. I said last year that if he was a twenty-one year old picked for a song from league you'd love his effort and commitment and hope he'd gets some skills, but as a thirty-one year-old high earner it wasn't good enough & I still think that. Likewise 2 goals in twenty games at centre-forward ain't good enough. I wonder if Pardew has seen him play lately. As for Stern John - bargain - book him up
  6. Oh no - what's he banned for?
  7. Look at his signings in the other thread - he built the core of the Reading team that took the CCC by storm. He is just what we need - a proven success with a bit of a point to prove. The more I've thought about it today and looked at his record the better I feel about it
  8. Just remember Harry putting out a weak team v Man Utd. We never recovered from that thrashing. You said it - a good cup runs fuels confidence and that is what our whole club (including us fans) has been lacking for 18 months or more. A win is a win is a win - and the more the better
  9. It was said at the time he took over that the Leibherrs had built up their whole vast empire without using debt, so very unlikely he'll start now
  10. I was going to start a We want Pardew out thread as a joke, but I guess you've beaten me to it. He's a good, solid appointment - a guy with a proven track record and no baggage. I expect, like you, they wanted Jose Mourinho, but he's a bit busy at the moment, so in the meantime Alan Pardew will do just fine
  11. I'm enjoying it
  12. I admit it - I was bored this morning and it is pointless. And yes, I know they are not really his machines. But it made me happy seeing it.
  13. You miss the point - it will be a good thing if the deal goes through as described on http://dralfahim.blogspot.com/. No money, no players, silly show-off in charge, where's the bad bit in that? Come on Dr A Fahim, I say
  14. I spotted one of his machines - a digger - working for the Environment agency behind the sea defences at Selsey the other day. Is there no end to his beneficial efforts for the South coast of England? Has anyone else spotted any Liebherr machines anywhere else?
  15. My thoughts exactly. Not only do they get that buffoon in charge but he'll be skint.
  16. I seem to have done it & I recommend a read
  17. This website - sorry too thick to know how to link, but someone else did it on a previous thread - makes very interesting reading if anyone can put up the link http://dralfahim.blogspot.com/
  18. I've been trying to contact the ticket office all week over a few complications on my season ticket renewal - permanent message to try later. Reaching the point where I will give up on trying to get to Ajax game
  19. And what is the problem with both of them coming?
  20. I do say hooray. And again - hooray. The answer is yes - there are plenty of good young strikers out there who understand the offside rule and how to perform for 90 minutes. Have you actually watched the same player as the rest of us for the last three seasons?
  21. Not up to anyone at Saints what he does - he is a free agent who can sign for who he likes. But if he's really gone....... Hooray!!
  22. I thought it was in Leigh Park
  23. Actually, I don't care THAT much, as long as they are somewhere below us
  24. No-one really wants to see them go out of business..... Do they? Where would be the fun in that? I'm far more sadistic than that - I want a slow lingering decline, full of false hope with plenty of straws to be clutched at, only for them to be snatched away again as they sink deeper into crushing disappointment and humiliation and the natural order is restored once more
