The 2008/2009 Saints squad: 1. Kelvin Davis - Mrs Davis might be less keen when she sees his new contract offer 2. Chris Perry - Could do okay in League One. 3. Wayne Thomas - Please, close the door on the way out. Possibly Burley's worst signing (and there were a few) Only remembered fondly now because he didn't kick a ball this season, but remember The Holy Nige preferred the Glassman to him last year 4. Marek Saganowski - Up there with Skacel in the overrated stakes. Gone for good, I hope 5. Jan Paul Saeijs - HCDefoDAJFU in League One 6. Michael Svensson - Everyone else knows he has sadly reached the end - just needs to accept it himself 7. Rudi Skacel - Taxi for Mr Skacel. Let's hope it's a fast one with a big tank of petrol. Overrated, overpaid & consistently underperformed 8. Bradley Wright-Phillips - He'll get one more decent contract on his family name somewhere before oblivion beckons. No improvement in three years here & no likelihood of it 9. Gzregorz Rasiak - Going somewhere, but doesn't seem like our player anyway. 10. Paul Wotton - Just about good enough for League One, but I think he will help the lads 11. Andrew Surman - Sadly he has to go to further his career 12. Lee Holmes - Will stay, but worried he is turning into the new Perry Groves 13. Bartosz Bialkowski - Gone, I would guess 14. Stern John - Gone already. 15. Jason Euell - I would call a taxi for him, too, but he'd probably miss it. Always a trier, but somewhere he lost his ability. Retirement or the MLS beckons 16. Romain Gasmi - Gone and forgotten 17. David McGoldrick - Please don't let him go, now he's become good (Not hopeful, though) 18. Nathan Dyer - Gone, I hope & the money would be handy. Seems incapable of playing for us like he does for others 19. Morgan Schneiderlin - I hope he stays - he is only 19 still & he has some talent 20. Adam Lallana - Will probably go, but another season with us would do him good 21. Jamie Hatch - Will probably stay & get his chance 22. Simon Gillett - Will be talked of as the new Dennis Wise by the end of next season 23. Lloyd James - Worried that he is out of contract & we'll lose him now that he has made the grade 24. Oliver Lancashire - Has some talent, but could easily be in onference South by the end of next season 25. Michael Poke - Presumably he will stay at Torquay 26. Jake Thomson - Next season will be his breakthrough season 33. Joseph Mills - He and James should be our full back pairing for next year, let's just hope we can keep him 34. Jamie White - Will make the grade next season 35. Matthew Paterson - Ditto 37. Oscar Gobern - And ditto again. They are all talented young lads who should get a chance without the burden of playing too often 39. Ryan Smith - Who knows if we want him or he'll stay 40. Anthony Pulis - Does he really exist? 42. Kayne McLaggon - Another one to come good next season. 43. Lee Molyneux - Might be okay & is contracted, but has a lot to prove With the release of funds from the wage bill, adding three or four steady journeymen amongst our youthful talent will see us do okay next year

But would he accept the £500/ week he's worth after 3 years on £8k/week? -
Schneiderlin - Saints Biggest Waste of Cash Ever?
sidthesquid replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
He is another youngster who should have played a dozen games - he does have talent but needs to bulk up and toughen up - a year in League One should do that nicely -
Lloyd James - a good young lad who'd never played a first team game before this season, played the whole season where he'd never played before & took some shocking stick, but never hid, kept working away & has finally won many of his critics (at least those who go and watch, anyway) over. Gillett, not far behind, but missed too many games
-
See that three more ex-Saints will be in a higher division than us next season - Blackstock, Paul Smith & Arron Davies
-
Is nobody bothered any more? Just come in from watching my lad's team win their local derby & no thread, no team news anywhere. Match starts in 20 minutes
-
He will never be a good footballer in any division. He has a bit of talent but he must be the most brainless footballer I have ever watched. Apart from a worse grasp of the offside rule than the average granny, he never anticipates, never sees the space to run into and never takes the right option. He plays like a twelve year-old
-
I think he got one this season. Started the season as though he could walk in twenty goals, then like a rabbit in the headlights when he realised how tough it was, and the penny dropped - work hard & chances will come, combined with a switch to what looks like his best position and suddenly it all comes together. He will be a good player
-
There might be the odd Israeli gun-runner owned exception
-
I think the following Goalkeepers - Davis, Bialkowski, Poke will all go, leaving Forecast & presumably a new signing Defenders - Hatch, James, Perry, Lancashire, Molyneux, Mills will stay. I hope Saeijs stays & Thomas goes. (Everyone on here has convinced themselves because he didn't play this season that he is great, but remember the sacred Pearson rated him so lowly that he preferred Darren 'the Glassman' Powell to him at the end of last season). Skacel (presumably) will finally go, too. Midfielders - Wotton, Pulis, Gillett, Gobern, Holmes & Thomson will all stay. Smith is out of contract so who knows? And Gasmi (I thought) was only a lone to keep Morggan company. Surman is certain to go, sadly. Schneiderlin & Lallana, not certain - neither have impressed of late, but both have the talent to make it, though may not get too many serious offers Forwards - McLaggon, McGoldrick, Paterson, White to stay. John, I guess, has gone & Rasiak won't be far behind him. As for Euell, BWP & Saga - they will hopefully all go (4 goals in the last 12 games between them says it all). Personally I am amazed anyone on here would ever want to see them pulling on a Saints shirt again. What we need is an experienced keeper if Davis goes, another solid CB if Saeijs goes & a Steve Howard type centre forward, then we can mould our youngsters around that solid spine & I think we will do okay

Do you genuinely not believe Crouch has to bear any of the blame? There is a long list, I agree, including Arry Redflaps, Burley, Askham, the other directors, the execs, etc, etc, but Lowe, Wilde & Crouch were the main shareholders/controllers & their inability to work together is what ultimately brought us down, as far as I'm concerned
-
Could I refer you to my previous post & to the very simple point that you and others cannot seem to grasp - being anti-Crouch does NOT make you pro-Lowe. I can happily despise them both
-
You would really, you know you would
-
For the record: I am not a Lowe supporter, but I admit that I am less rabidly anti than some. I totally agree that he is a major contributor to our current mess I totally agree that he should never darken our doors again I hope that is plain enough for. But I do have a major problem with Crouch He is implicated in the mess whether he likes it or not & being a dedicated fan does not excuse him from some of the crass things he has done or make him a fit person to run the club And I admit that the way he is talked about on here is Robin Hoodesque at times which annoys me, as does his own desire to play to the crowd, and I feel compelled to react. Just as I do when some of the more extreme nonsense is written about Lowe, or other things like the stick our younger players have taken. But none of that makes me an apologist for Lowe & it's not an either/or - I can feel contempt for both of them & wish they would both depart. I hope that makes my position clear
-
I was going to start apportioning blame, but then I thought some t0ssp0t would start arguing over that, too. Who cares anymore (apart from the Crouch potatoes trying to defend their master)? They are all guilty and all need to leave the club in peace
-
Tisdale ticks the boxes as far as I am concerned, but I think the unanimous agreement so far is worrying. It won't last
-
Why can none of you grasp that being against Crouch having any future involvement & believing his is/was part of the problem makes you pro-Lowe. I think they are all to blame & should all go away

3 recent PL teams down to League One - Coincidence?

Prem 2 is nothing to do with the good of football, everything to do with the historical feud between the FA and the Football League - I mighty bore you with the details, going back over a hundred years sometime
