Looks like Jayden Mehgoma has gone on loan to Preston from Brentford.

Just wonder if any of my fellow old stagers on here remember us beating Ipswich 7-0 in an FA Cup game back in the 1960's? Think we were 6-0 up at Half time.

It was dispiriting to watch the Senate meeting on the Robert Kennedy Jnr hearing We have many challenges in this country and a bit of a divide of political views but, fortunately, nothing as wide as our friends in the USA.

Keeping Track of the Contracts 2025-26
spyinthesky replied to Over land and sea's topic in The Saints
I thought this may be of interest as I had nothing much to do this evening. Herewith a list of current players, their age, length of contract and cost to the club in transfer fees. All information provided by the best intel I can find. Most contracts expire on 30th June each year Of the 38 players mentioned below, two are included as loans (in), seven are loans out (as underlined), two are more or less permanently injured and three are regulars in the U21's. I would expect all of the 2025 list will go at the end of the season (possibly with the exception of Lumley) with Harwood Bellis, Ramsdale and definitely Fernandes expected to attract decent bids from Premiership side with the club, as a necessity, needing to get cash in to address the big fall in revenue. Dibling is likely to attract a good deal of interest but there may be the possibility of keeping him here on loan if he does go. The futures of Bella Kotchap, Onuachu and Sulemana are unlikely to be at St Marys if the club can get a reasonable return on their £50m transfer cost. That would leave the high scoring trio of Armstrong, Archer and BBD to spear head our challenge for Championship glory, although BBD may be off to Sheff Utd if they go up. Its sobering to think that all the 'talent' shown below cost the club between £240-£250m+ Signing On fees, Agent fees, Wages etc etc. Out of Contract 2025 2027 2029 Gronback 23 Loan Dibling 19 - Fernandes 20 £13m Ugochukwu 21 Loan Armstrong 27 £15m Kay Sanda 19 £4m KWP 28 £10m Bazanu 23 £12m Stephens 31 £500k Sulemana 22 £22m ????????? Just a refection on the Newcastle game. Obviously with the money at their disposal they had better quality players but this was not only evident when they had the ball but off it too, Newcastle moved the ball quickly and their forward players were consistently making runs into space either to receive the ball or to make space for team mates. In comparison most of the time our defenders had to ball moving the ball forward into the opposition's half was slow. Not as slow as with Russball but still slow enough to allow Newcastle players to get into shape. Also when our players had the ball around the Newcastle penalty area and lost possession this caused us all sorts of problems as Newcastle were able to break at pace. Perhaps Juric can adjust tactics to assist with this.

We were in the Southern League, along with Spurs and a few others of a similar standing from around our founding date ie 1885 and did pretty well winning the title on a few occasions and reaching a couple of Cup Finals. Along with a number of 'Non League' teams we then entered the Football League via the Third Division South in 1921. This is all from memory so please excuse me if I have not remembered dates correctly.

I think we will find out against Burnley although they may ring the changes as they will see promotion as their main objective this year.

Agree with you particularly with the comment about Ross Stewart as an individual. I am sure he is as pissed off about the situation as are all those associated with the club both on and off the pitch. As I recollect the club gambled on decent players like David Hurst, Charlie George, Perry Groves, Kerry Dixon in the past, all of whom were decent players who suffered injuries which curtailed their playing careers. However none of them suffered as badly as Roscoe.

Possible Draws Expected Losses Ipswich (A) Bournemouth (H) Brighton (H) Chelsea (A) Wolves (H) Liverpool (A) Palace (H) Spurs (A) Villa (H) Man City (H) W Ham (A) Arsenal (H) Fulham (H) Leicester (A) Everton (A) I am a a self confessed Negative Nellie but if the team cant get six draws or one win and three draws from 15 games that may be a scar that many will never recover from. Winning two games would be a minor miracle the way we are playing at the moment.

I find that I am watching the clock at St Marys now to see how many minutes are left to ensure we dont concede any more goals. The VAR nonsense only papers over the fact that we have been totally outplayed for most of the games at St Marys this season. I give credit to the players for their efforts but they are just not good enough individually or as a group. I give credit to KWP and Fernandes who are bright lights in an otherwise dark experience. Aribo did OK today but upfront we were awful. It is interesting to see that our only win recently against a weaken Swansea side who got smashed b y Pompey and Cardiff and received another thumping today.

I dont shop at Asda so difficult to make a comment on their customer service. However I wonder if things have changed since the Issa brothers have taken over?

I have watched many 'keepers in my time as a Saints fan and Baz is far and away from the bottom of the pile and lets not forget he is in his early twenties and 'keepers do not generally reach their peak until they are in their late 20's/early thirties. I think the adverse comments on Baz are generally unfair. I believe he will turn out to be a good asset for us.

Watched the game on the Chelsea stream. Good performance throughout the team

I am a little wary of all the reports that historical burning of fossil fuels has caused extremes of weather as such occurrences have happened in the past. That said the weather in the UK, in my lifetime, has changed and is warming.

Well I really enjoyed that, despite the adverts. Not sure how strong the Chelsea team was but our U21's really deserved the win. We had three golden opportunities to win the game and hit the woodwork three times versus Chelsea's two. Lots of decent football, a mixture between RussBall and longer passes. Good energy and a lot of good individual performances. Well done the youngsters.

2-0 up at HT. Saints playing really well. Young lad in goal looks good. Robinson and Amo Ameyaw look particularly impressive but good displays all round. Hope I have not hexxed it by my comments

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
spyinthesky replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
I have a feeling that he may not last until he is 70. There will be plenty of people in prison who feel obliged to do him harm. Alternatively he might think life is not worth living incarcerated in his cell for long periods and having to avoid contact with others. -
It would be interesting to know the reason behind this. Perhaps?... 1. Sheff Weds agreed to throw a decent additional wedge into SR's coffers to allow Charles to stay at Hillsborough. 2. Chelsea were making noises about taking Big Les back due to Lavia's injury and Saints wanted Shea Charles back to fill the position of defensive midfielder. 3. Shea is happy in Sheffield and wanted to stay for the rest of the season. 4. Or, he was expecting to return as a 'bit part' here and preferred to play every week in the Championship. Food for thought.

Speaking to a mate of mine who is a Hull fan, he reckoned Edwards was a class act for QPR in their game v Hull last night. Feel a bit sorry for Taylor as he was out in the cold with Russball and presumably is now third in line after Manning and Welington and possibly fourth (for the moment) with KWP able to fill in there too.

Hopefully I can help clarify.my comment. I was making the point that without our better players such as Fernandes, Dibling, KWP,THB, Ramsdale, would the team be competitive in the Championship? So I was asking a question. Of course, it would be hoped that there will be a few players coming in to replace those leaving and that the likes of AA, Downes, Sugawara, Archer, Wood etc would feel more comfortable in the Championship. Perhaps the cup game v Burnley will provide a decent yardstick, if indeed, Burnley play a full strength side.

By accounts he will be with us next week.
