  1. If we can at least a point a game v Newcastle/Brighton(H) Bournemouth/Norwich/W Ham/Watford(A) we should be Ok
  2. Any update on Sam McQueen?
  3. Like a lot of people, I was a bit unsure about JWP. I have to say he has been immense lately whether mid field or covering at RB. Recovering from a nasty injury at Spurs seems remarkable. In my view a close call between him and Danny Ings for Player of the Year.
  4. Spot on with your comments. I was concerned about involving him in a crucial game. However thought he did very well and hopefully one for the future
  5. Pompey are likely to set a record and win whatever the Lower league Cup for the second time and fair play to them for that. I am sure this will be added to their list of titles and cups. However we never seem to make any reference to our domination of the Southern League from 1885 to 1920 when it was essentially a 3rd Division and we competed with the likes of Spurs.Think we won the title 8 or 9 times.
  6. Cant we get the 'White Witch' in again to purge the stadium of historical 'bad vibes' or dig up the pitch to locate the buried Pompey shirt. Something must be done as watching home games is indeed a chore as someone has described and this has been going on since Koeman left. I worry about forthcoming games against Villa, Newcastle and Brighton. We just cant lose any of these games.
  7. I remember the chant of yesteryear ie 'Pompey, Pompey Give Us Your Answer Do, What's It Like To Be Stuck In Division 2' (To the tune of 'A Bicycle Made For Two')
  8. Agree entirely with you I remember last season when we drew 2-2 with Man Utd. Lemina looked far better value than Pogber. Shame Lemina couldnt show this type of form consistently.
  9. If you look at the High Speed services in France and Spain, both have benefited Paris and Madrid rather than the satellite cities they are connected to although it is fair to say the distances are greater than the London to Brum link.
  10. Any thoughts on the likely attendance? Will Spurs sell their allocation I wonder?
  11. I sympathise with those who travel regularly and are p*ssed off with SW Railways especially those who use the service at peak times. However I recently watched an independent railway analyst and he mentioned the problems that most/all of the TOC's are facing with issues caused by our antiquated permanent way system and the failure of the nationalised Network Rail company to deal with the issues. Throw in the Union/Management spats on the Train Guard issue and the problems escalate. The analyst guy reckons things will not improve if the Govt runs the operation based on feedback from the NEast Line
  12. Paul Doswell, The Havant Manager is a big Saints fan
  13. Any suggestions please for a suitable parking spot on the perimeter of London close to a Tube station with a decent connection to Spurs stadium? Thanks for any advice.
  14. Quite right. Look what a great signing we had from Spurs in Tommy Fourpast!!
  15. Reckon we should look to swap Hojbjerg for Spiderman, Martina and Steklenberg. Bring home three of our old 'favourites'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Is Danny England's 'Miss Ings Link'?
  17. I think we now have the worst home record in the league
  18. Shane Long managed to pass the ball to the keeper after a nice little through ball Cant fault Shane's effort but he is no regular goalscorer
  19. Beaten up by Antonio v West Ham and same today by Traore Also, as usual our opponents won bost of the ball in the air. We have struggled in this department ever since losing Pelle. We remain crap at throw ins!!
  20. I'm going
  21. Another one who suffered as a kid. Mine wasnt considered that bad apparently but it did knock the stuffing out of me for a few months.
  22. The central defender I recollect who dealt with Ron the best was Billy Baxter at Ipswich Town. I found this remarkable at the time as Billy Baxter was only about 5' 9" but, like Ron, had a real good spring.
  23. Two players who I have enjoyed more than most in my long time supporting the Saints. However I wonder how both would have fared in modern football where physicality and fitness is paramount? Le Tiss may have been compromised by enhanced pressing whilst Big Ron may well have suffered from taller defenders (whereas the average height of centre halves in his day were around the 6' mark) Of course this is all speculation. All I can really say is that I am so grateful to have seen both of them (pus Sir Michael de Channon, Terry Paine and Kevin Keegan) in their prime!!
  24. During my long association with the Saints, we have generally been good at home and pretty poor away from the comforts of the South Coast. It is interesting this has form been turned on its head this season. We have earned 17 points away from home with a positive 16-14 goal difference. This would have been 19 points if we had beaten Arsenal at the Emirates, which should really have been the case. The 17 away points puts us in 5th place in the League table. However the 11 points won at home puts up in the bottom three with the worst goal difference accentuated by the 9-0 hammering by Leicester. Our system seems to better suited to playing away and we have all had to endure some pretty dire performances at SMS over the past 3 seasons. Let's hope we can look forward to more entertaining games at SMS and additional points on the board.
  25. I agree. However both he and Valery were adversely affected by the system of play we had until recently where the right back position was cruelly exposed by lack of cover in front of them. Introducing Armstrong into the side has greatly improved the balance
