He has no option. The supermarkets decide what the price is, and the farmers have no choice. Supermarkets are destroying the farming industry in this country.

I assume you are bringing some Thatcher's Katy for the train?
-
I think I only agreed/disagreed on some questions where perhaps I should have been stronger is making my feelings known. Never mind.

One of the other great ironies is that you get people in the supermarket who actively go and buy the fair trade coffee, and then they will go and buy a milk produced by a British farmer who is losing 15% on each litre he produces, because the supermarkets just keep shafting our dairy farmers.

I was a couple of squres up and right from Wilko.

What's the point of sending him to jail? Yes, he's clearly a bit of an idiot, and what he did was wrong, but I can't see how a jail sentence is proportionate, or will actually help anyone. One assumes he had no history of crime before this, so we are now putting him into what is basically a school for criminals. Worrying.

There are more Saints fans in Bath?! Excellent. I am getting the train at 0813, however!

Pah. That might have helped a few people at the time, but it also helped the government by removing their responsibility to look after housing. It has also had a disasterous long-term effect, as we have a major lack of social/council housing in this country today.

I think it's important not to confuse Royal Mail and the Post Office, which are two seperate entities. As far as I'm aware, this is a RM dispute and has nothing to do with what is happening/has happened to the Post Office.

I'm glad that you feel our bankers should be let off scot free. Let's let them get on with risking all our money all over again, then we'll just bail them out and blame the poor. Believe it or not, you can have regulation of the financial industry in a capitalist system. You and gingeletiss may think everything is black and white, but it isn't. You can have a largely capitalist society with appropriate government intervention. I don't think the banks should be allowed to go back to behaving how they were.

Sadly I am at Saints v MK Dons on 4th Quali day, so will be unable to attend. I am sure the mighty Bath will prevail.

It's not totally seperate. Mao Cap's post was spot on. It is quite something that during a recession caused by laissez-faire capitalism, which the Tories would support, where the government had to bail out the banks due to the greed and arrogance of the bankers (most of whom still have loads of money), that the political debate now has been to try test everyone on incapacity benefit to make sure they shouldn't be on JSA (something Labour have already announced by the way), and forcing those on JSA into jobs which clearly don't exist at the moment.

He only got knocked down once. Don't think he's ever really had the chance to prove how good, or otherwise, he is. He certainly isn't as technically accomplished as Calzaghe, but you certainly can't doubt his chin or temprement. This tournament will be very interesting.

I have only ever had 2 days off work sick in my entire life. FACT.

While obviously this is wrong (if true), the money spent by the state her is a mere drop in the ocean compared to the tax loopholes exploited by big business and the super-rich.
-
I would imagine suitable NHS jobs are alreaedy offered through the Jobcentre. If you aren't creating any new jobs, then you aren't actually going to take anyone out of unemployment, so I don't see what benefit this has to anyone?
-
But surely you just want people off JSA so they aren't leaching off the state? If the NHS just creates jobs for them, surely that is going to cost the taxpayer more money than the £60 per week JSA anyway?

Maradona.

I would be £700 better off if this scheme was implemented, but if it was implemented on it's own then so would everyone else.
-
Why didn't you just read the opening line of my next paragraph, which told you how it would be paid for? And if you are super-rich and use tax loopholes then you should pay more tax. And if you are a moderate earner you probably won't. You might pay slightly more if there was a Local Income Tax. I believe that's fair.
