Didn't have any realistic chance anyway.

Restructuring leadership eh, now remind me does that mean cost cutting or getting rid of those who don't agree with you. I've mislaid my business jargon for the 21st century guidebook.
-
Have they gone downhill of late then? Thought we started the U23 season in quite a successful manner.
-
6 what ?
-
Dunno, what position does he play? Who cares what admistrative personnel come or go, on the pitch is where football is at. The rest are just money men, meejah types and pen pushers.
-
Naturally, he was a wanting to spend money which the owner obviously didn't have.
-
Rubbish, Cortese was ambitious, perhaps overly so.

Yes, I looked it up, still if my team had got to 180/2 after 30 overs or so and then lost to a team who'd made 146/2 after the same number of overs I'd probably be pretty miffed.
-
How can that be if Middlesex were about 180 for 2 after virtual the same number of overs? They scored regularly at about 6 an over with a fairly even fall of wickets after about 180 so for us to win at 146/2 would have been a bit of a travesty then.

I see from the result on Cricinfo that we lost according to the DL rule by 89 runs. That would mean that if terminal rain was forecast for about 2 hours into our innings we needed 235 runs off of 30 overs. Nigh on 8 an over from the start, tall ask really so I suppose that's why our top order folded, chasing an impossible total for a DL win.

37 years so that takes you back to the start of the 80s when most of our best players were Johnny Foreigners. Richards, Greenidge, Roberts, Marshall M, Warne and 2 Smiths, all icons of Hampshire cricket really. County cricket has always been made more attractive by overseas players (unless you're a Yorkshireman I suppose) . Jeez Hants would probably have been awful to watch without our foreign stars. Anyway today's result will probably depend on how long Bailey and Ervine can stick around. They're getting into their bowlers quite well just now and if they can take us to say 170 at a good rate we might get away with the 34/4 start.
-
Vince, Alsop, Dawson and Carberry aren't Kolpaks though are they and they're the ones who are all out before we get to 35. Poor bowling and even poorer batting apparently and there was me thinking that we'd got past that, obviously not.

Starting to need wickets again or we'll be facing another monster total.

Favre ? Swiss bloke who's had a fair few managerial jobs, some good, some not so much but he's certainly done well at Nice. Seems to have been able to get Balotelli to score a few goals and not make a complete dîck of himself off the field. Just for that the bloke deserves a fair bit of credit. -

I am not saying anything, I'm telling you what the "expert" commentators said. The fact that I qualified this by saying "I don't really know" wasn't as obvious as I thought then. What is evident is that we have players putting in sub par performances. Now whether that's because they're injured but still playing or that our season ended with the League Cup final is open for discussion. -

Now I watched Nice beat Paris St Germain yesterday and the commentators were saying tha the current Nice side which is 3rd in the table and thus in line for a CL place is all down to Puel's work with the players. Perhaps it's Saints that don't have the kind of player he needs to make the side progress, I really don't know but if you have players on huge salaries who can't save a fairly straightforward shot or sink a last minute penalty or stay onside then the task is complicated. -
Looks like we won't win today, our first defeat of the season then. Their 8th wicket pair clubbed our bowling for a packet in the last few overs and we've been behind the rate all innings. Bailey, Vince and Dawson all looked promising but they got out when it mattered that they didn't.
-
Hasn't he been linked with Newcastle ?
-
Tough total to get at Chelmsford today...we may well not get it.
-
No and even if it did (which it doesn't) it probably wouldn't change anything for us anyway. Our chances of finishing 8th are probably fairly limited.
-
Not really Hants related but what about the ongoing Somerset recovery? Dead and almost buried at 22 for 5 facing a Surrey total of 290 and now they're looking likely winners. 200 for the 6th wicket at over 7 an over.
-
what multi billion pound business was that then. For the umpteenth and final time (hopefull) Katerina Liebherr has nothing whatsoever to do with the mainstream and well known Liebherr, cranes, earh movers, fridges, golf courses and hotels Liebherr. She is a niece, cousin and whatever may have you to these people but has no role in their business.
-
100 up for Alsop and Hants cruising to a fairly simple win. Not bad at all considering the bowling start this morning.
-
Arrghh Carberry gone second ball of the innings, not the start we needed.
-
Respectable target but we'll probably need a decent start to get it. Don't think we bat very well after 7 or so.
