  1. Still their 1992 call was against the tide, in fact so much against the tide that "It was the Sun wot won it" was probably about right.
  2. And the Iranians are blaming the US and Saudi Arabia, as per usual I suppose. It's all going to get out of hand soon which is obviously the purpose of the I.S..
  3. As I have always maintained. The "press" valuation given to M Liebherr was just an extrapolation of the value of the other branch of the Liebherr family. It's like the old "Send reinforcements, we're gong to advance" becoming "Send 3 and 4 pence we're going to a dance" joke.
  4. Gone where ? He obviously ain't going without a pay off and we're in all probability trying to not give him one. So unless he finds a job he rates and thinks better than ours he'll be staying put until we give him the order of the boot. Although...could be some develpments soon as the only really decent job left at the moment, Porto, has gone to the portuguese bloke who was at Nantes. Perhaps Puel fancied Porto, don't know if he was really a serious candidate there though.
  5. Of course, you've just got to be a bit devious about it. Last time I looked Emirates Airways put more into Citeh than they actually make in a year. You buy a club, you get your best mate or cousin to the 15th degree to give you a whacking great sponsorship deal and you sort it out with him in some Caiman Islands account afterwards; It really isn't that complex. Take PSG, owned by the Qatari Royal Family and sponsored by Qatari Airways or The Tourist Board or whatever. If she really wanted to do it in style Ms Liebherr could persuade her uncles and aunts to sponsor the club and give us 20 times whatever Virgin do. It's a separate entity and would pass the FFP tests with flying colours.
  6. Tricky one, I suspect it will be when we get an owner who really has shedloads of money and doesn't think twice about pouring vast amounts of it into the club for no return .
  7. Bloke attacked a policeman with a hammer, policeman then shot him. That's about it I think.
  8. So apparently the Italian government warned the UK about the third terrorist. Well so they say anyway, wouldn't surprise me if they forgot to do it though.
  9. I did not know that so at least the election will have served some purpose..
  10. So a general election with all the inherent expense for absolutely sod all then.....
  11. Wasn't Ross whatnot at Huddersfield before he joined Saints?
  12. Ooh they don't care where it comes from as long as it's cheap. From what I can gather their total budget is somewhere around 40 to 50 million £ a season. That's what, about a third of ours? Galtier was on about 90K euros a month, so 17 or 18 K£ a week if you like it in those terms. I seem to remember from an article from Le Progès, which is the local rag, that ASSE operate a strict salary cap, 90K euros gross a month, there may be bonus payments of sorts on top but it really is chicken feed money when you take out all of the social charges that you have to pay.
  13. Well really that's no yardstick is it. We should have done better but we screwed up because we just couldn't score when it was needed. Probably because we had no strikers worth the name. They were absolutely "minable" against Utd, just out of their league really, we at least put up a decent performance against Utd in the LC final. Galtier left because he just wasn't getting anywhere, no money, poor pay, team made up from dregs, all the best players sold for whatever they could get for them. Don't think Galtier has another job yet, could be wrong, but he just wasn't interested in giving up any more of his life on a bunch of cheapskates. Before StE was a historic club but these last few years have been a real trial.
  14. I think he just hates muslims to a degree where judgement doesn't even figure in the top 5 of his priorities. Probably be his downfall.
  15. Well here's a little bijou for you all from L'Equipe who are saying that he has turned them down....again. St Etienne are far too lowly for a bloke like Puel, they pay peanuts and are basically mediocre...and I go to watch them from time to time.
  16. Well in the case of Darth Vader it's comprehensible, he only has (had) half a head really.
  17. Hope we can beat the rain though.
  18. Their president is still conducting interviews today and will be doing so again tomorrow. I think they've set a deadline of 15 th June, so that's Thursday week. Viera seems to have told them he's not interested in leaving MLS just now so that's one that you can cross off. There's also a petition doing the rounds calling for Ranieri to be appointed. Oh and one last thing, St Etienne are a bit on the cheapskate side so they won't pay a giant salary and the won't pay any sort of transfer indemnity for the manager.
  19. But now it's Bell and Trott, get them out and we're set, fail to do that and we'll be against the clock at sometime tomorrow.
  20. Warks really dragging it out today. We'll do well to bowl them out again tomorrow.
  21. Don't think Caceres thinks so though..
  22. St E had a short list, Celestini was favourite but that's fallen through apparently. Now they're looking at the other 4, Garcia, Ranieri, Puel and believe it or not Viera. Puel wants to run everything his way with them and that's not the way StE want.
  23. Best not get carried away eh.
  24. Wow, monster stand by the old guys, I promise I'll never slag them off again....
  25. Ervine leading the fight back, Adams propping up his end. proves that you never can tell in cricket really.
