  1. Don't know, with the DUP and presumably the ex Ulster Unionist Independant May has 329 votes, given that the true effective of the Commons is 643 without counting the usual absences for illness etc she has some sort of margin. I seem to remember someone governing for a fair time with a theoretic majority of about 2
  2. Sounds about right. I'd be quite interested to know exactly how Corbyn thinks he could muster a majority n the Commons. He's got 56 less than the Conservatives, Sinn Fein don't sit, can't see either DUP or the lone NI independant having anything to do with either labour or a man reputed to have had Irish Republican sympathies at one time. Pehaps he's counting on the Scottish conservatives to have a bit of a U turn and back him in exchange for some sort of independance vote, can't see that either. So basically you'd just have to assume that he's just another dreamer.
  3. Might depend on whether we get a new and much wealthier owner.
  4. depends if we'll have the wherewithal to pay for above average, definitely not dross replacements really doesn't it. If we're going down the 12-13 million pot luck road again as we did last season with Hojberg and Boufal there's no guarantee that we'll be any better than now.
  5. If we're asking 70 million, yes it's far too much. We want to keep him apparently so we seem to be asking a price that no-one will consider paying. We'll see whether we have the resolve to turn down any realistic offer over 40 million.
  6. I would have thought that they already have enough Tadic type players. Can't see why they'd be interested in signing any more. They need a really reliable striker, a left back and another top class centre back. All the rest would be just more of the same and a drag on the salarial mass.
  7. Doubt it, he's out of contract soon and there would be a deadline for Chelsea to have offered him a new one. It's just let's all crap on the dippers time again. Just a tribunal decision to decide compensation.
  8. Our XI are a bit woeful against South Africa A aren't they! Still it's basically the seconds so no great concern.
  9. If you want gentlemen follow rugby, only sport where you can see a solicitor and a brain surgeon kicking the crap out of each other of a Saturday afternoon.
  10. Probably at Chelsea's picking up an award for the most likely new recruit, tied with Lukaku though.
  11. But on the discussion a friend of Puel said that he hadn't signed anywhere at all (yet?) because as far as he knows he's still under contract at Saints.
  12. Apparently it was pretty crappy advice anyway.
  13. Yep that's what we're going to do, put 70 million into a paper bag and put it out on a park bench every Wednesday with a notice written on it in felt pen inviting people to help themselves to a few quid, because that's what letting a valuable player "rot in the reserves" amounts to.
  14. everyone except the DUP that is, they'll be pleased to get the kingmaker place that they thought they'd get last time.
  15. After his train wreck in Milan I'd doubt he'd get a job coaching Crystal Palace ladies.
  16. Anyway I'd get Pellegrino if we're actually looking for a new manager, have to be quick though because Palace are after him as well.
  17. Schmidt is among the favourites at Palace is he not ? I do wonder if Puel hasn't applied for the job there as well, if he's free to apply for jobs as he seems to be that is.
  18. In effect, the UKIP got nigh on 4 million votes last time round I believe and this time I doubt that they even got a quarter of that. With the Lib Dems being virtually wiped out in 2015 and not anywhere near their prior vote this time either we're leaning back towards a 2 party system, apart from the Scot Nats that is.
  19. Anyway there are far too many nationalists and separatists in our parliament. Let them go their own way and redistribute the cards. Parliament of 650 members , 35 scottish nationalists, 3 welsh and 7 irish nationalists who do not even turn up. So 45 out of 650 or about 7% have no real interest other than to try to get their own way. As some pointed out earlier on the scot nats get 35 seats for 900K votes or so, 6% of the seats for 2 or 3% of the votes. Don't even get me started on the non-representation of expats. A lot of other countries have members in their parliaments for specific overseas regions, I think we are about 2 million or so long term expats and yet the scotsnats get far more consideration than us.
  20. So Kat wants even more money then.
  21. Nan, it's just a smart ruse by the Dippers not to buy anyone very expensive and then tell their fans "Well we tried but what can you do":uhoh::uhoh:
  22. A lot, their problem, if you see it that way, is that the pay very poorly. Galtier was on their maximum salary of somewhere around 90K euros gross a month. They want top drawer for bottom dollar and that's always going to cause problems. Ranieri was amongst the favourites but he was way too expensive for them. I'd guess that they were hoping to tempt Puel for far less than he must be getting at Saints with the blow cushioned by a Saints payoff. He's turned them down twice anyhow.
  23. So at the end of the day May continues to govern with the aid of the N.Irish right, who incidentally get whatever they want, and all the rest gang up on that pair trying to gain something for the next time round. As Sinn Fein won't take their seats again May will have (in theory) 328 votes at her disposal against 315 for the rest, including 38 separatists. What a mess.........
  24. So anyway, according to a chap I know ASSE haven't given up on Viera yet and he's thinking about their offer. Puel is only about 4th possible on the real list. Saints just need to sack him if that's what they want to do and let everybody else just get on with their own thing.
  25. In any case St Etienne won't pay Puel a brass centime in "compensation", it's not what they do. They probably won't pay Saints a great deal either. Oscar Garcia from RB Salzburg is said to be favourite today, well according to Le Progès anyway. He has just a year on his contract and RB Salzbourg would probably let him go for not a lot, probably asking for less than Puel as well.
