  1. everyone except the DUP that is, they'll be pleased to get the kingmaker place that they thought they'd get last time.
  2. After his train wreck in Milan I'd doubt he'd get a job coaching Crystal Palace ladies.
  3. Anyway I'd get Pellegrino if we're actually looking for a new manager, have to be quick though because Palace are after him as well.
  4. Schmidt is among the favourites at Palace is he not ? I do wonder if Puel hasn't applied for the job there as well, if he's free to apply for jobs as he seems to be that is.
  5. In effect, the UKIP got nigh on 4 million votes last time round I believe and this time I doubt that they even got a quarter of that. With the Lib Dems being virtually wiped out in 2015 and not anywhere near their prior vote this time either we're leaning back towards a 2 party system, apart from the Scot Nats that is.
  6. Anyway there are far too many nationalists and separatists in our parliament. Let them go their own way and redistribute the cards. Parliament of 650 members , 35 scottish nationalists, 3 welsh and 7 irish nationalists who do not even turn up. So 45 out of 650 or about 7% have no real interest other than to try to get their own way. As some pointed out earlier on the scot nats get 35 seats for 900K votes or so, 6% of the seats for 2 or 3% of the votes. Don't even get me started on the non-representation of expats. A lot of other countries have members in their parliaments for specific overseas regions, I think we are about 2 million or so long term expats and yet the scotsnats get far more consideration than us.
  7. So Kat wants even more money then.
  8. Nan, it's just a smart ruse by the Dippers not to buy anyone very expensive and then tell their fans "Well we tried but what can you do":uhoh::uhoh:
  9. A lot, their problem, if you see it that way, is that the pay very poorly. Galtier was on their maximum salary of somewhere around 90K euros gross a month. They want top drawer for bottom dollar and that's always going to cause problems. Ranieri was amongst the favourites but he was way too expensive for them. I'd guess that they were hoping to tempt Puel for far less than he must be getting at Saints with the blow cushioned by a Saints payoff. He's turned them down twice anyhow.
  10. So at the end of the day May continues to govern with the aid of the N.Irish right, who incidentally get whatever they want, and all the rest gang up on that pair trying to gain something for the next time round. As Sinn Fein won't take their seats again May will have (in theory) 328 votes at her disposal against 315 for the rest, including 38 separatists. What a mess.........
  11. So anyway, according to a chap I know ASSE haven't given up on Viera yet and he's thinking about their offer. Puel is only about 4th possible on the real list. Saints just need to sack him if that's what they want to do and let everybody else just get on with their own thing.
  12. In any case St Etienne won't pay Puel a brass centime in "compensation", it's not what they do. They probably won't pay Saints a great deal either. Oscar Garcia from RB Salzburg is said to be favourite today, well according to Le Progès anyway. He has just a year on his contract and RB Salzbourg would probably let him go for not a lot, probably asking for less than Puel as well.
  13. Still their 1992 call was against the tide, in fact so much against the tide that "It was the Sun wot won it" was probably about right.
  14. And the Iranians are blaming the US and Saudi Arabia, as per usual I suppose. It's all going to get out of hand soon which is obviously the purpose of the I.S..
  15. As I have always maintained. The "press" valuation given to M Liebherr was just an extrapolation of the value of the other branch of the Liebherr family. It's like the old "Send reinforcements, we're gong to advance" becoming "Send 3 and 4 pence we're going to a dance" joke.
  16. Gone where ? He obviously ain't going without a pay off and we're in all probability trying to not give him one. So unless he finds a job he rates and thinks better than ours he'll be staying put until we give him the order of the boot. Although...could be some develpments soon as the only really decent job left at the moment, Porto, has gone to the portuguese bloke who was at Nantes. Perhaps Puel fancied Porto, don't know if he was really a serious candidate there though.
  17. Of course, you've just got to be a bit devious about it. Last time I looked Emirates Airways put more into Citeh than they actually make in a year. You buy a club, you get your best mate or cousin to the 15th degree to give you a whacking great sponsorship deal and you sort it out with him in some Caiman Islands account afterwards; It really isn't that complex. Take PSG, owned by the Qatari Royal Family and sponsored by Qatari Airways or The Tourist Board or whatever. If she really wanted to do it in style Ms Liebherr could persuade her uncles and aunts to sponsor the club and give us 20 times whatever Virgin do. It's a separate entity and would pass the FFP tests with flying colours.
  18. Tricky one, I suspect it will be when we get an owner who really has shedloads of money and doesn't think twice about pouring vast amounts of it into the club for no return .
  19. Bloke attacked a policeman with a hammer, policeman then shot him. That's about it I think.
  20. So apparently the Italian government warned the UK about the third terrorist. Well so they say anyway, wouldn't surprise me if they forgot to do it though.
  21. I did not know that so at least the election will have served some purpose..
  22. So a general election with all the inherent expense for absolutely sod all then.....
  23. Wasn't Ross whatnot at Huddersfield before he joined Saints?
  24. Ooh they don't care where it comes from as long as it's cheap. From what I can gather their total budget is somewhere around 40 to 50 million £ a season. That's what, about a third of ours? Galtier was on about 90K euros a month, so 17 or 18 K£ a week if you like it in those terms. I seem to remember from an article from Le Progès, which is the local rag, that ASSE operate a strict salary cap, 90K euros gross a month, there may be bonus payments of sorts on top but it really is chicken feed money when you take out all of the social charges that you have to pay.
  25. Well really that's no yardstick is it. We should have done better but we screwed up because we just couldn't score when it was needed. Probably because we had no strikers worth the name. They were absolutely "minable" against Utd, just out of their league really, we at least put up a decent performance against Utd in the LC final. Galtier left because he just wasn't getting anywhere, no money, poor pay, team made up from dregs, all the best players sold for whatever they could get for them. Don't think Galtier has another job yet, could be wrong, but he just wasn't interested in giving up any more of his life on a bunch of cheapskates. Before StE was a historic club but these last few years have been a real trial.
