If we were interested at the price being asked then I don't doubt that we would have matched it and tried to sign the player. As we don't seem to have done that then I suspect we're not interested in the player or the price. He's good'ish but not that great and we no doubt have other targets.

We've got (or will be getting) some from the PL, we've sold season tickets and spent a few measly million, Clyne is on the point of going to Liverpool and I don't think they've got a hope in hell of getting a slate from us..so we should in theory have at least some money.

He's said quite a few things, that he wanted to stay with Saints, that he wouldn't mind playing with Vertonghen, that his dad asked AM and was told that he was needed there next (this) season etc. Above all he's always said one thing..that it's up to Atletico and no-one else.

Nevertheless Sky amongst others have persuaded gullible idiots to part with real money in wagers on the deal being done, some of which they have recolted through what I presume is a subsidiary..Sky Bet. That's what I find incoherent about it all.
