Seriously? I thought making the league cup final was being built up as a major objective for the club and last night's debacle seems now i to be being written off as a minor mishap. We went 1 up after 45 seconds and had them on the ropes, we didn't have the quality to press home our advantage and their midfield inexorably showed their greater class. Still never mind there's always the FA Cup, and if not next year's League Cup etc etc ad infinitum. .

Who knows who he might have obtained, each manager has his own type of player to target, in Koeman's case it's dutch league players in the main. If we'd not appointed Koeman we probably wouldn't have signed Pelle,Tadic etc but we would have signed others. Ranieri might have turned Long into a world beater...then again probably not, perhaps he wouldn't have let us waste 12 million on him though.

I might even suspect that he's engineering his own exit next May. Didn't cost enough and Koeman probably didn't want him in the first place anyway. Probably wanted another dutch league goleador, keeping Elia or something similar but we didn't want to spend enough to get them.
