Well it's Summer Transfer Window so there's always a certain amount of BS attached to that. Some days I do not follow the debate being gainfully employed esewhere so I was actually quite interested to know the facts, you may well be in the same boat..

Did the club go public on that or was it just a press interpretation of some other comment?

Tbh those who pay any attention to whatever professional footballers may or may not say are usually rapidly disillusioned. They go from being "over the moon" to "sick as a parrot" in nanoseconds.

I am absolutely amazed at the number of people who seem to know the minute details of this famous contract. If it was so watertight then we should own the player by now having paid 8 million euros for him (not even 6.8 million£, it's a bit over about 5 and a half at recent rates). If we had had a contract like that then we should have smply transferred the sum involved to AM's bank and then claimed our right btro the player. It's all smoke and mirrors I expect, we've been strung along once again. Not worried myself, we'll get someone else.

A more assured future perhaps. Not to start any great sillyness here but I am not really impressed with our transfer window so far, we seem to have had some big targets and bought some pretty average looking cheapies. Plenty of time yet but really I doubt that our next season is as assured as Tottenham's so far. On the other hand perhaps Shani just fancied Hertfordshire more.

Once again..exactly why wouldn't we have had 11 million £ available or obtainable ? I keep hearing that we may have no money for transfers before sales but no-one every seems to be willing to have a stab at why that would be.

A club like AM can find 2 million € down the back of a sofa. Not having it is not an option, not wanting to give it to us is.

Well perhaps they didn't overly appreciate all the rumours about "legal action" and shares of the profit eh. We appeared knobbish so they may well have given us a bit of tit for tat. If we wanted the player it was simple, ask for the price and pay it. Just as we seem to expect every other club to do for one of our players. Nemesis at her very best.

Mess up ...probably not, Legal right....We didn't pay them 8 million euros so we didn't have any. You never, ever own anything at all until you've paid for it. We may have "owned" a right to buy though.

French press are linking us to Mario Lemina from Marseille, DM I think don't watch them so I couldn't tell you much about him. Probably cheap as chips though.

It depends on how much we're prepared to spend. A really good Toby class CB will cost us a fair sum unless there's someone towards the end of his contract that all the "big clubs" don't know about.

Absolutely, Spurs defence was their weak point last season, too many silly goals conceded. It doesn't make any difference if you have 30 CBs on your books if they don't do the job. Toby and Vertonghen will (or should that be would) be a solid pairing for them and I'd expect a lot of the silly goals to be wiped out. For 16 million € Toby is, what is known in popular parlance,a no-brainer.

That is entirely possible but most were clinging on to a soundbite saying that he wanted to stay with us. Footballers are notorious for throw away comments such as that and yet fans cling to them like tablets of fire cast down from some sacred mount or other.

Perhaps not, surely we must have some money for squad improvement without selling all of our better players again. Or did we give it all to Osvaldo ? Anyway we'll be wiser when we see if he goes to Austria or not, don't think Schweinsteiger is interested in MU any more though.

Well that's a bit harsh, anyone who's played first team football shouldn't be compared to Pulis really.. We'll find out soon enough I guess. What time do the lads set off for Austria?

What isn't sorted then? If he's gone there, had his medical and signs later on in the day then it is sorted. He's been transferred to Tottenham Hotspur and we can claim moral ownership of him but come first day of the season he'll be turning out for them. Corner shop mentality does not cut it in the higher echelons of european football. We wanted the player ? We knew the price and needed to pay it..that is all.

Because we wanted to buy the player ? Relying on goodwill and outdated agreements isn't a recipe for getting what you want, not in football; If we wanted the player we should have paid the asking price because it was still a great deal. After deducting the presumed 2 million € we would still have got Toby for around 10 million £ which would have been a great signing on the basis of his last year's contribution. Football transfers dealing isn't the Women's Institute bring and buy.

Or the fans, I don't know why everyone seems to want to take whatever Koeman says as gospel...he's a football manager.
