  1. Boruc was dropped because Forster was bought as a number 1 keeper, don't think the club ever made any secret of the fact, didn't RK actually say so, provoking months of vitriol from "Irene"?
  2. Don't feel the need to feel sorry for stupid dorks who can't watch a game of football without having the prospect of a financial benefit to offset a defeat. Bookies prey on that sort of stupidity. Should be outlawed in the same way as confidence tricksters preying on old folks.
  3. Probably judst needed a game to get the ANC qualifiers last week out of his system, probably quite hot in Africa just now, damp cold Villa Park might not have been easy to adjust. It's one of the drawbacks of regular african national team players. Constant long voyages and the climate change coupled with them. Got to give the bloke some slack really. Look at Yaya, he'd not been so great for a while, probably for exactly the same reasons, the ANC is a pain in the butt, every 2 years like that means they're in perpetual qualifying tournaments for the major nations who have a chance of making the WC final stages as well.
  4. It was a good result, silly goal of course but the fact that we got a draw after being behind is quite ground breaking for us recently I think. Villa have become a bit of a bogey team for us and you just knew that Agbonlahor would score a breakaway goal. Thought Hutton had a really good game for them, tough nut, should be playing for a better club than Villa and Guzan pulled off the odd good save and commanded his box well.
  5. There is a thing which sometimes affects some African players when they've been down in there homelands a bit, they seem to lose all sense of discipline, I remember a friend who was coaching at Lens at the time telling me that the most of them were useless for the rest of the season after the ANC. African football is different, less disciplined on the whole and players get into the habit of extemporising a bit. Still it was only fdor 2 games this time and I'm sure that Mané will be better against Citeh, Hutton had him in his pocket yesterday, in fact Hutton had a pretty good game.
  6. We might have a few more clues on the answers after their game tonight, if they get dumped out of Europe there may well be a reaction one way or t'other.
  7. I thought we were OK, just wasteful from 25 yds out onwards, still not convinced by Long really. NB which sarky buggers voted for Forster then ? Nothing to do and when he did have he cocked it up,
  8. It's our usual first choice side less Davis and with Long isn't it, or am I being obtuse. Cork isn't amongst Ronald's base structure I think.
  9. Burgess Road is a real dog at the end of a marathon (as it was when Southampton had a marathon anyway) perhaps after 19 k or so it won't be so bad but that remains to be seen? The bridge is ok if there's not much wind but if you've got a 3/4 head wind in one direction or other it's a pain. Never run over it in competion in the two directions so may not be so easy on the way back. Old soton marathon went town-woolston just the once and iirc there wasn't too much wind that day, Peartree Avenue is a bit of a drag though, then again I haven't looked at the route yet but if you go over the bridge unless there's a loop round Netley or something you have to go up Peartree a bit I think, or Newtown Rd which can't be much better. NB I ran Lordshill once, doesn't it go up Toot Hill anymore, if it does it's certainly not flat.
  10. Villa innit.
  11. 5 chavs getting chucked off the Oriana is far more interesting though.
  12. The old fool getting injured or suspended for a few games would probably be the ideal solution for Liverpool actually.
  13. You mean that Gerrard will still be first choice CM when he's nigh on 40? It's all they need to do, put the knob out to pasture and replace him with someone who can actually perform the role he's supposed to be playing and let someone else blast the free kicks over the bar for a while. Gerrard is finished, he's their biggest problem.
  14. But he shouldn't be out there defending against a speedy winger, where was the LB...oh it was Johnson...explains everything. Liverpool have it all wrong, dropped Moreno cos he was cack against err whoever beat them last time and replaced him with a RB(if you can call him that) who's always cack anywhere. Rodgers is cocking up everything, or perhaps it's Gerrard, who knows who's picking the team just now.
  15. Can't see why there's any discussion about him returning really, he went to Scouse knowing full well that he wouldn't be first choice front man, he's not, he's assuming the role he went there to perform so why exactly he'd want to leave stumps me. They'll probably actually qualify for the knock out stages of the CL so doubt that he'll go anywhere at any time soon. Liverpool know what they need to do to correct their freefall and it doesn't involve loaning out Lambert.
  16. Bearsy? Probably got a BJ in the stationery cupboard, either that or had a shît in the woods..
  17. Tadic appears in the photo gallery, Morgan doesn't, then again there aren't that many photos. Doubt Morgan will start tonight, Cork+Wanyama or Wanyama+Reed no doubt.
  18. Absolutely, 60 odd goals between them, gave Sterling a free ride and got about 15 penalties for Gerrard. Liverpool were a 2 man team last season, unfortunately for them neither is available to them this season.
  19. You just have to face facts, Liverpoool as it stands are distinctly average but last season they were average + Suarez. What Lucas has done to get himself exiled totally who knows, perhaps he ****ged Gerrard's wife or something, without him they are hopeless in midfield, at least he tackles and tracks back. As I've said all season Liverpool's problems come down to 2 things, lack of efficiency in front of goal and Gerrard, when they sort out those they'll be OK. Unfortunately it may take sacking Rodgers to change that.
  20. Will depend on exactly when Maya has to go to Japan for Asian Cup preparation I suppose. They start on the 12 th Jan, tournament starts on the 9th in Oz, probably 8th UK time then, if Japan want their players 2 weeks before say that's grosso modo the entire end of year programme without Maya really. The only real compensation is that all the other clubs with Australians and other Asian nationals will probably be in the same boat.
  21. Not to mention Dier who it must be said started the season fairly well but was absolutely atrocious at RB yesterday, even Chiriches was better and he's no right back. Didn't compete with Johnson at LB for Liverpool in the uselessness stakes though.
  22. I watched the game, they haven't changed the system really but as they don't have the players to operate it in it's entirety (or can't) then they do what they can with what they have. Total domination second half but then Hull were down to 10, not that Gaston had any great effect on the game anyway but it's a body less and they took off Ben Arfa to compensate I suppose. Spurs problem is defensive errors and losing the ball in midfield, Dembelé was total junk there and once he'd been replaced they got a whole lot better. Fortunately they have Erikson and he's getting them out of a few tricky situations. Lamela is getting better though.
  23. On the subject of Yoshida, do Japan participate in the Asian Cup which will take place in Australia in January next year? If so that would mean that we'll be down Mané and Yoshida for 4 to 6 weeks...not good .
  24. Ah the eternal beef of continental managers coming up to their first end of year PL campaign, players will get him through it OK.
  25. Wasn't Stoke fairly cheap tickets in school holidays though ?
