  1. We need to get some HG seniors in though cos otherwise we're going to be lighter than Citeh in that department. Once Lallana has gone I think that leaves us with 6, well 7 if you count Sharp..then again who does that. When Morgan goes we'll be down to 5 and us being a pillar of HG football and all that...............
  2. Morgan is as good as gone, don't know about Gaston. Anyway as they're our only two players (for the time being anyyway) left in the WC it's unsurprising.
  3. Fortunately for us. It would be just more abjectly erroneous crap to confuse us.
  4. Employment security for a fixed term for the player, big bucks for the club if the player is any good. Other than that very little.
  5. We don't know anything of the kind, all we know is that they were knocked out of the WC last monday and 4 days later they're prancing around the north west signing for new clubs. We'll get all the usual clap trap about good deals for the club etc etc etc but at the end of the day we gave in and Utd and Liverpool got what they wanted, probably on their own terms.
  6. It's not about salaries, it's about progression in football. Top players want to play in top competitions, you could pay Messi all you want but he'd never play for mid-table PL Southampton. If you have major nation internationals in your side our target has to be the CL every season, even if you fail at the end and only get EL. You do not ruin their season by making them play with dross like Gazzaniga or Hooiveld.
  7. And when you think of the "success" of our scouting network you cannot but be concerned about the quality of our future purchases. For those with short memories I give you Mayuka,Forren,Gazzaniga,Osvaldo, Gaston and even Yoshida, what have we to show for the 37 million £ or so spent on those players.
  8. Yep, they told it like it is
  9. Robben,Schneider and RVP don't play in the dutch league, they are the main architects of Holland's success. T"were it not for Robben's lightning pace and exquisite ball control they'd look very ordinary.
  10. In the Dutch league, from there to the cut and thrust against the world's finest in the PL is a major step. There is no place for mediocrity if you want to do well in the PL.
  11. But next season we risk fielding what? One academy player on a regular basis perhaps, perhaps none. It's not JWP and Chambers that are going to propel us to the upper heights of the PL, it's either with bought in players or not at all. Suits me, not an academy fan at all.
  12. He fecked up at Valencia, took a large pay-off from them though. We have no idea what he believes will be a succesful season, he's only really managed in the Dutch leagues.
  13. I'm beginning to wonder exactly on whom we're going to spend all this money actually. I mean by the time it all tots up we could buy virtually anyone but the number of real quality player who'll actually want to come here is debateable.
  14. might as well wait until next week, probably have a couple more to announce by then.
  15. Arsenal are in for everyone with a pair of boots. As I told you the other day, Arsene likes a free lunch with any agent that gives him a call in Sao Paulo. Journos pick it up and make up bolloaks about it.
  16. Your average footballer will say anything, probably even believes it to be true, until he gets a better offer that is.
  17. Depends who we can find to sell to us on the never never really
  18. Come monday we'll probably only have 2 real players left...the 2 that are still in Brazil,
  19. But the manager decided on that right, well perhaps not the never-never payment plan but on the fact that Shaw could go...Manager wasn't fussed about him, why should we be.
  20. don't think that they're too bad, it's the different ethnies within each national group that don't always get on.
  21. depends what he has to work with in the way of raw material really, the world's bestest GK coach couldn't make silk purses out of sows' ears such as Gazza and Fourpast. A coach can only do so much, if there's no basic talent they can't create it.
  22. Billingsgate ahoy I think.
  23. But seriously though, if MP was still manager at Saints would we even be talking about these much hyped Dutchmen...probably not, we get a dutch coach and hup we want to fill our side with beetroot heads. We perhaps need to reflect more on potential players before posting and stop being so blinkered. Before we "go dutch" in a big way we should remember Steve De Ridder, the kid that Toon had on loan at the end of last season, Van Wolfsdoings etc etc etc. The Eredivisie isn't the premier league and there are some absolutely atrocious sides to boost your goal scoring stats against. The Dutch national side is good but without Robben who knows what it would be like. They played France back in March without him and they were awful, absolutely awful.
  24. Will be a good kit then, we all know Cortese's opinion on tat.
  25. Not really they just want to move to the next level, same as everybody else I'd think. We have failed to do that, the top players are entitled to move on, they don't want to be relying on players like Jos and Gazza next season, simple as that..
