To do what? Fill up for Utd and Chelsea and have vast empty spaces against Stoke and Norwich. A few more thousand on the gate for a few matches will bring nothing much to the club. We need to sell out for every league game at SMS as it is first and create new demand for every game.

No they're cost cutting, we've paid (or are going to pay) 30 million £ for a training ground, no point in paying to use someone else's facilities and not use your own. Long way from Austria and Spain last season though or the 2 years of Swiss bonanza.

Right, I didn't see the game because I refuse to give the Qataris 12€ a month, had to watch Holland-Wales, awful apart from the Welsh 10 year old, 4ft 6 high who came on near the end, gave the ageing Dutch a bit of a run around, think he plays for Fulham in some capacity.

A job's a job isn't it. Got him a few quid I expect and let him get his foot back in the stirrup after a bit of an absence. Never knock anyone for taking a job when they don't have one myself...well unless they work in a call centre

Magath has his qualities that would appeal to the "board"...he's German... Also reputed as a bit of a hard liner, Mauricio was a hard liner you know, the players liked him and he had their respect but he wasn't a soft old gran. I remember predicting back in January when Mauricio seemed undecided that our next manager might be a German, I was thinking more Rosler though.

Rehab for disgraced football managers.

I have not followed this thread but didn't Stones play last night? Flanagan is a left back I believe.

It's what bookies do isn't it, live off other people's greed. It's not their fault if chancers punt stupid sums on happenings and events that they know nothing about. Gambling should be outlawed on events where no parameters are defined. Still I expect governments everywhere make fat sums off of it so there's no chance.

Oh drat, had a bit more rain and then a couple of overs but we couldn't get their last 2 wickets, match drawn. Worcs-Surrey ended the same way so still ahead.
-
Not to mention their sponsor, still Opel is still Vauxhall in the Uk isn't it ?
-
But if you believe what is shown in other posts on ths thread 20 million outright isn't on offer anyway, it's apparently (or so we're told) 15 to 18 million now and the rest in add ons which may or may not be realisable. If we want a clear 20 million now then Liverpool still have some way to go on their outright offer let alone convince Bournemouth to take less for their share..

Albrighton on a free, that's not too bad, wouldn't mind him on a free at Saints (or wouldn't have before he went to leicester)
-
No doubt there will eventually be much wrangling by battalions of legal men over it, we'll have it sussed though because the Lambert transfer will be a precursor, just don't see Bournemouth giving up easily over a penny they think they're due that's all. I believe they even went as far as putting a photo of the original agreement on their twitter towards the end of april with a promise not to budge an iota.. Here's the doc, make whatever of it you will. http://www.veooz.com/photos/HHAOnh5.html

No doubt we'd have to hand over 25% of them when and if we get them. They'd have their lawyers on it in a flash, we could try to buy our way out of them with a unique sum if the adds-on are reasonable but if they're unlikely ever to arrive then best leave it be.
-
No idea but as he's been so seemingly determined to get a specific move I'd not like to see the consequences if it fails.
-
Yes I see that, then again as I believe that most British players are overvalued and overated and that's why you have a national side peopled by over 30s including makeshift right backs and CMs who should have been put out to grass years ago. I always tend to believe that the real value of players is only apparent when they move from country to country. Now if GB had the unique national side that it's size merits we'd be far more competitive and being English would be downgraded as far as value goes. 4 national sides for 1 nation is ridiculous don't you think.

No they made a loss of 50 million in 2012/13, their debts exceed that by far. However as the sanction is only a smack on the wrist unless you actual owe money to the taxman (like Parma-kicked out for 300K€ replaced by Torino) I doubt that they're particularly worried about it; PSG certainly aren't they're just spending even more. UEFA can only limit you for your European campaign, nothing else, so you get to play in Europe with a squad of 21 instead of 25 and a fine, most of which is only payable if you're naughty again, I doubt they're really worried.
-
Well it's 500K to Bournemouth for sure.
-
So eventually he ends up in the bargain basket for ex Saints footballers, still it's a job and he should get some game time there in league 1.
-
So the initial offer (according to Liverpool anyway) was about 17/18 million plus add ons and now it's probably 18/19 million plus even more add ons. Don't see 15 million mentioned anywhere as a base figure.

Away from the trials and tribulations at SMS for a moment. I see that Hants are having another good game, 388 in the first innings, Derbys just avoided the follow on and Hants made a few quick runs to set them 340 odd. Thought we might be deprived of a result by the rain this morning, however all seems to be going swimmingly now as we have them at 51/6 with about 2 hours play left (barring rain/bad light). With Worcs-Surrey held up by the weather we might get some clear water at the top of Div 2 if we can get those 4 wickets.
-
Really? Can I see that for myself somewhere or is it just the enlightened few who know that ?
-
Really, so the 25 million take it or leave in the papers is in fact total bolloaks ? that makes more sense then. How do you know this and journalists don't ?
-
Indeed, but most of us have seen the paper and there are no time limits or get-out clauses. As they were quoted in various papers as being determined not to budge on it anyway now (although they might have done years back) there's little hope really.
-
But if Liverpool have actually offered us a take it or leave it 25 million £ (and AFCB would know how to verify that) then their share is 6.25 million so why would they settle for 3 million when it opens the door to us accepting the offered 25 million and thus depriving them of 6.25 million £. It suits Saints and Liverpool no doubt but it won't suit Bournemouth, we'd have to go to at least 5 million to get their agreement to that sort of deal. At the end of the day there'll have to be a bit of give and take from each element but we can't really expect Bournemouth to make the lion's share of the effort.
