Sunderland away FA CUP build up thread
Window Cleaner replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
We shall see but to me at least 3 or 4 looked dead on their feet after 80 minutes on Tuesday evening. If they can recover so much the better. -
think his time with Saints is past actually, perhaps he could get a couple of years at Bournemouth though.

We may be better but Tuesday night's game will have taken it's toll and they've had a free week. I'm afraid that fatigue will be the undoing of us, too many games...too few players. -

Gus says otherwise, mind you he's a Uruguayan so perhaps it's best not to take heed of whatever he says. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11695/9164006/fa-cup-sunderland-boss-gus-poyet-will-make-changes-against-southampton -
makes sense then.

Strange that Citeh's game is off but Everton's isn't. How far is it from Manchester to Liverpool then ? 30 miles..a bit less ?
-
don't fancy the same end to our league campaign though W3 D4 L5, we need to do better than that. Turn the Ws and the Ls around and that would match my rough estimate for the last 12 games.

Maya is 6ft 2" well according to the OS he is anyway.
-
If we're still in the Cup there will be plenty of scope for rotation as there are international friendlies to consider as well. As Maya will no doubt be called up for Japan as usual for their game in Tokyo against New Zealand mid week that will probably rule him out of 1 game, perhaps even 2.

Not for Roger, a good Saints side is Lambert and 10 others, thought you'd know that by now. -

Sunderland are away to Arsenal come Saturday week, C1C final is the week after. -
You can see that they're new to the PL, one poster hasn't caught on that there are no loans outside transfer windows in the PL.

He didn't say anything about it in his post-match interview. -

Think we might need to make a couple of changes to the starting line up, couple of the lads looked dead beat after 75 minutes last night and Morgan looked to be hobbling a bit towards the end. Perhaps we could just try Cork and Wanyama to see if it can't be made to work, it would be OK defensively but one of them would have to adapt to driving the side forward all of the time. -
If you use Vydra as a yardstick anyone of his level would probably be worse than useless in the PL. the gulf is vast, few seem to realise that.
-
Of course, only played 45 minutes football in 2.5 months with just a broken leg, must be a real wimp. Now Jimmy Case would have just taped it up and played every game. When he does come back there'll be wholesale moaning about dropping Jack Cork.

But you get extra TV money from the FA Cup as well (provided you're on TV that is). £247,500 for the 5th round game per club I think, plus a load of extra money for winning in each round. when you add it all up a cup final appearance must bring in about 5 or 6 million more than getting knocked out in the 4th round.
-
And then they'll no doubt moan and lambast the team and the manager because we lost. We needed a striker and a left back if we want to maintain our league position and go for the cup but as we seem to be on an economy drive just now I doubt that we had any real intention of signing anyone. I calculated that with the departure of Cortese, sale of Puncheon and loaning out Osvaldo we could in theory have saved about 3.5 million £ in the second half of the season...not bad.

Even 7th with the way Utd are disintegrating.
-
Many expect us to field a ridiculously weak side just so that their chances of Wembley days out are optimised.
-
We will never play a team as weak as that in the PL, the result would be disgracefully shamemaking. team tomorrow night will be roughly as per usual, they'll be expected to win tomorrow and again on Saturday. We don't have enough players that's all so the same just have to shoulder the load week in week out, some will pay the price for that by not being selected for their respective nations at the WC.
-
because we had U18 and U21 games against Arsenal this weekend ? When that happens I'd think we barely have enough players to go round. Isgrove was injured for long while and probably isn't anywhere near match fit yet; So he played half a game in the Us and then was on the bench to make up the numbers for the first team. None of the other numbers makeruppers get any game time anyway.

Our match of the season is next Saturday
Window Cleaner replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
too many games and too few players. We saw that on Saturday, some of our lads look knackered and we've nothing else in the kitbag. If we want to have a good chance next Saturday we'll have to risk a sub standard side on Tuesday. We have what 14 fit senior pros (over 21s) and 3 kids who play most games, that just isn't enough to expect to win most games.
