Wilfried Zaha seeks loan move, at least five PL clubs interested

depends if he can defend, if he can't he won't get a game at Saints either. -

why doesn't he get a game at Utd then ? -
Perhaps similar was a clumsy word to use. The case at Clermont Ferrand has all the makings of the McCann case at first, although the difference between a tired mum nodding off in a park and a blatant abandon of 3 small children to go and eat out are not so similar. If the mother had held her nerve though we'd still all be looking for Fiona in 10 years time . All the public weeping, wailing and asking for aid from all quarters were exactly the same. The child wasn't murdered she apparently died from the results a domestic dispute but until they actually find the cadavre no-one can confirm that. No doubt the mother and step-father intended to replicate the McCanns case though. They held up for 4 months and everybody believed them apart form the odd "mauvaise langue" but in the end the mother was not sufficiently intelligent to carry it off.

Probably gives the ball away occasionally for exactly the same reason as Wanyama and no doubt Osvaldo. They just aren't used to being pressed and harassed all of the time. Only way to learn is by playing though. Gaston was sort of getting into his stride last season and then got sent off, however some of his actions are just red cards waiting to happen, most refs would have sent him off for his single legged Arkwright on Wilshere last year.

If Osvaldo leads Italy at the world cup......

But there will always be the odd Gourcuff, 28 milion €, bout 100 K a week and the bloke's never fit. Lyon don't make a profit on every player, they've had plenty of quacks as well. -
The problem is in the system, as explained by Morgan to L'Equipe at the end of last week and badly translated on this forum, the wide midfielders have a big big role on defence when the wing backs ( well Shaw and Clyne anyway) go forward as planned. We've seen Lallana defending more and more and deeper and deeper, why I've even seen him effecting sliding tackles in our own box. MP obviously doesn't consider that Gaston is either fit enough, energetic enough or inclined enough to fulfill that role so he prefers Davis or JWP or even JRod who've shown more affinity for the role. When we eventually decide to go with either Dani or Rckie but not both the system will change and there will be more room to play a player like Gaston.

We had a similar case round here a while back, Fiona aged 5, Mum said she'd gone missing in a park, national search etc and then 4 months later they admitted that she was dead, slapped by the step-dad or the mum, they can't make up their minds, trouble is the junkie couple can't remember exactly where they buried her. Obviously a pair of idiots but if they'd kept stum like a smart couple might well have done the mystery would go on for ever.

don't think so, looks like Utd are about 2/1 on to win, about 3/1 the draw and we're somewhere upwards of 5/1 to win.

If we want to continue playing Lambert and Osvaldo there's no place for a player like Gaston. Either we go #10 or we don't but you just cannot have Gaston,Lambert,Lallana and Osvaldo on the pitch from the start. I still believe the problem will simply fade away when we eventually go back to just 1 striker. In the meanwhile there's the Capital 1 Cup to advance in.

Ashley Cole is out of the Poland game now as well so Liverpool's U16 left back best get his kit together and head down to Wembley on his moped, should make it by Tuesday evening..

Available on line though.

Perhaps he doesn't work hard enough for Pochettino or can't take it if he does. Who knows but with MP if you don't work hard you probably won't play much. No great loss if we get a real 10 in instead.

Poland have nothing to play for, expect it to be a bit of a rout myself, Lambert might even score. -

You'd think that with all their value Google could employ some decent translators as well. Interview in french is really lucid. -

but Lambert scored against Scotland and Moldavia, Monternegro is supposed to be a half decent side. Anyway honour has been satisfied, Lambert has had his run out in an England shirt, the Roy of the Rovers story is complete so watch the next issue for some serious progress towards becoming a decent side again. It was obvious that it was temporary and the noises that Wilshire and his ilk were making after the last game about usual strikers being back in business soon should have left no illusion about the longevity of the experiment.. -
There's a lot of (over) confidence creeping into this forum of late. Hope it doesn't turn into savaging the team, the manager and the staff of the club if we don't win every game. Draw would be an excellent result really.

I don't think actual selection right now is the point. Last summer when France played 2 games in South America and had a relatively easy WC2014 qualifier on against Georgia on the horizon many of the CMs/DMs were totally out for one reason or another, some injured, some suspended so there were slots to fill. Some pretty average players got pre-convocations and eventual selections, players like Steed Malabranque (another who's never been called up by France just like Syvain Distin) and the totally woeful Joshua Guillavogui. So the real fact is that Morgan despite having what seemed to be an excellent season last year was not rated by the FFF (whether that means Deschamps or his advisors I couldn't say) to be one of perhaps the 12 DMs selectionnable for the national side. It simply means that he's either being ignored for a reason or that the standard of SFC or his own standard is just not good enough to be considered. It's the same argument for other decent midfielders in the Prem like N'zonzi who cannot frankly be considered as worse than Guillavogui or even Sissoko. Cabaye won't start against Finland as likely as not, that will fall to Matuidi who falls more into Deschamps idea of what constitutes a DM. -

Ah no, that's down to the Mirror and the Sun. They do like to have their binkies in the national side, The Sun got Walcott into England's 2006 World Cup squad. -

The missing element is "European" experience. National team managers are afraid to select players without it. It's not just the UK, any major football nation has few players who don't have European competition experience although what crushing some Moldavian minnows from time to time brings to the table I couldn't say. Michu got his first call up for Spain this week I think, started against Bielorussia yesterday, now with his scoring record last season you'd have thought he'd have got a nod for their summer tour, but no, not until he'd played in a couple of insignificant Europa League games did he become selectionnable. -

Small town club when my lad was playing for them in the Unders, coaching badges through the levels and some summer "camps" with the regional set-ups,culminating in some sessions at St Etienne. Getting too old to work with youngsters now though, especially at StE, can't understand their streetspeak half of the time. -

I don't doubt that Dyer is excluded from the England set up because he has a criminal record for an offence other than some motoring misdemeanour. Don't know if any other member of the squad has an actual criminal record. -

But Cleverly isn't a pacey winger either, more of a CM isn't he ? Townsend played well yesterday I believe, no reason to think he won't do the same against Poland. -

I see Sterling has been promoted to the full squad to cover the absence of Cleverly, wouldn't have thought that was a like for like replacement myself though. Do we think that's a slap in the face for Lallana or that it's justifiable to replace Cleverly with a Liverpool bencher ? -

They were very poor in their summer tour to South America and have had a few shocking results. The main beef however of the French public is Deschamp's constant selection of Benzema who until he got an easy tap in last night, which he wouldn't have got in a Hampshire league game, hadn't scored in about 1300 minutes of international football despite hundreds of simple looking chances against teams like Georgia. He didn't start last night and the whole outfit looked more balanced with Remy and Giroud. As I've said though it's hard to tell because the Australiens were desperately poor, seeing old men like Lucas Neill and Tim Cahill chugging round the pitch reminded me of Sunday League football on Bitterne Park Rec. The Aussie keeper was pretty awful as well, young lad who plays for Dortmund seconds or something like that, Schwarzer would have done better with all of the goals except for the dodgy penalty which the French got for handball although the Aussie didn't touch it with his hand. However this isn't the point, in the past 8 months we've had some pretty average players in midfield for France including the lamentably bad Guillavogui who can't even get into the Atletico Madrid side and another lump of whom I can't remember the name. On average there are about 50 preselections which go out to French players for each series of games, means each position in the 25 man group which finally gets called up for those games is doubled. As each selection comprises about 8 midfielders that means that each batch of pre-selections warrants about 15 or 16. If you're not even pre-selected it means that the FFF either knows nothing about you or doesn't rate you worthy of any consideration whatsoever and your situation vis a vis Les Bleus is desperately hopeless. For some reason DD has no opinion of Morgan whatsoever, whether that dates back to his refusal to move on when we went down to League 1 or whether DD just doesn't consider the Saints set up to be sufficiently advanced to consider it's players for selection I couldn't say.
