does Targett actually train with the first team though ? I know he could be drafted in at any time but I don't see him as a regular replacement for the immediate future. Perhaps Yoshida is going to play left-back again if the need arises:scared:

Let me guess they've all sh@gged Eva Peron ? -
If they slung in another 5 on the 1st january yes I think i would sell him, still very naif defensively. Unsurprising at his age of course but as I see him going sooner rather than later we might as well kill 2 birds with one stone and get a real LB in now when we kind of need one and are in an attractive looking position to potential replacements.

Wigan with Lukaku though, can't understand why Chelsea keep loaning him out when they have attacking problems themselves. I mean out of Lukaku, today's Torres, Ba and Papy Etoo who would you choose to be 1st rate striker. Don't think Mourinho will last long at Chelsea this time round.Seems to be doing his darndest to extract the urite and get himself sacked.

Cortese settles compensation case with Adkins

can't be assed to find it, there was a poll atop a 150 page (or so )thread where weepings and wailings were much in evidence but there were 38 ayes and about 500 nays to Adkins sacking, you were indeed an aye, as was I, Lard, GM but I can't remember the rest. -

Far too much is made of successive promotions, he had half of a PL team and AOC in League 1 FFS, it just needed pointing in the right direction and it took care of itself. There were players in that side who know far more about football than NA ever will. As for the NPC we got off to a blinder and stumbled over the line because we did not adapt our one dimensional game to the necessity of the task. Anyone who saw us thrashed by Blackpool and conned by Reading could tell that our manager was tactically naif. -

Except for the 38 realists subscribed to this very forum. Adkins wasn't getting the job done at a sufficient level, probably because he's an NPC manager at best and his grasp of the game at the highest level is well...insufficient as of yet. -
Do you think the plan is to play gaston when fit?
Window Cleaner replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
I thought he was supposed to be the most forward of the 3 but seemed intent on centre circle hanging getting under Morgan's feet. Stream got a bit vague from time to time but I can usually tell the players apart. Perhaps MPo detailed it that way but it seemed to be better in the second half*****il he went off) where the roles were seemingly more as I'd have expected. NB you can't put until in parenthesis on this forum. -

I also thought Davis was pretty poor on Saturday, seemingly bent on playing a role that wasn't his to play. Think he has some problems situating himself in the first team schema. -
Isn't that what we had against Palace ? Wanyama, Davis and Morgan . Trouble is it ended up all skewwhiff in the first half, Davis was dropping back into his usual slot and Morgan had to go forward to avoid them all falling over each other's feet but the roles should have been reversed. Wanyama doesn't seem to like to pass square,it's forward or back, he only has 2 gears in the box so it's no point putting a player either side of him because he won't pass to them, he also seems to like being plumb dead central all of the time which leaves a gap on one side or the other, don't think his spatial awareness is all that good of yet, certainly not as god as Cork's.

is it any different from the bloated public service that we once had really. A bloke sweeps roads for a council or does a non-job in a nationalised industry, those are a real jobs but at the end of the day the taxpayer pays. A bloke does "useful" work for benefits...not a real job but at the end of the day the taxpayer pays anyway.

Had Spurs -Chelsea on Saturday, not overly impressed, he had no reason whatsoever to send Torres off as the second yellow was totally erroneous. However he could have sent him off for the first incident and Vertonghen with him. Then Vertonghen should have gone for the second but not Torres. If he'd sent them both off when he might have done he'd have been more right.

JWP might well, England U21 and they've got previous for fetching very silly fees at a very young age. Shaw is oft bandied about at way over that and he's probably no better than JWP, just that he doesn't have the same competition for his starting place. -
Tony Blair ? I think he got the boot basically because he couldn't recognise a dumb law, a dodgy intelligence report or an idiot Chancellor of the Exchequer when he saw one so I doubt that he'll ever learn now.

Ah but for that we'd need to be playing in Germany, Italy or Spain where thare are 2 excellent teams,3 or 4 decent ones and a whole host of piles of crap just waiting to only get beaten by 3 or 4 by Barca or Bayern every week. The PL is the most homogenous football league in the world, there are no bad teams, just a few that can't expect to win more than they lose. -
Is there not a bit of bumff sent out with the STs stating precisely the conditions attached to said ST ? I'm sure that the club does not neglect to make known the law concerning football attendance. It's just a case of people blatantly ignoring the rules and regulations and then *****ing when they get caught, it's one of mankind's favourite pastimes.

we won't drop Lallana come what may, why ? I just couldn't say but even when he was dire we didn't drop him so now that he's performing better in all aspects except the final touch it's not likely to happen. Lallana has upped his game these last couple of weeks so I guess you could say our perserverance has paid off there, if he could just start scoring some of the very realisable chances he gets or creates he would be a top,top player. As I've said before most of our players are now worth nigh on 12 million so Gaston's price tag really is no longer relevant; If we were to put Lallana onto the market today he'd be priced at way over 12 million, Lambert would be too apart from his age, Dani well we know how much he cost, same as Wanyama, Morgan we turned down 14 milion from Sociedad and I very much doubt that JWP would fetch less than Gaston's purchase price. So there you have it, it's a contest amongst equal for a starting spot and as Gaston's pre-season was sort of non-existent MPo prefers to rely on the players he's worked with all summer. -

In fact MPo (which is what he has marked on his training kit) is one of just 3 PL managers to have played at a WC final tournament so why Lawrie Mac had never heard of him I just couldn't say, even if it was only for bringing down Owen. Just kind of shows how far football management is getting from the sharp end of the game. -

Have you never watched Utd grind down minnows for 90 minutes and then hit them with a Fergie time winner ? All PL teams are decent and have good players, there are no pushovers and you just have to keep on battering them until they crack. As most of you will never have witnessed an Arsenal game in their double year you'll probably not know what I'm on about. Winning is now about constant attrition and little else. I'm sure once we get the League 1 and NPC years out of our system we'll stop expecting champagne football every week; It was so easy then with what turned out to be half a PL team battering the likes of Oldham and Dagenham and Redbridge nigh on every Saturday. -

Gaston will become a major player for us once we can filter Lambert out of the system, until then he'll be a bit part player which is OK because he's got plenty of time. You cannot start with Gaston,Osvaldo,Lallana and Lambert and as we're not going to drop any of the other 3 just yet Gaston will have to bide his time and we need to be patient about that..We've been lucky so far 6 games when we've been able to call on all of our first rate players except Clyne (and how that cost us at Norwich) but you can never tell how long that will remain the case. -
wouldn't be the only spot for that on the A75 either, the drop to St Germain du Teil must have been pretty tricky as well. Still apart from the bridge which you can cut out for 20 minutes extra anyway it's a decent road for free. Use it a lot, always go by Millau in the summer though cos..well I'm a cheapskate.

Top 6 is possible (although not probable) with the start that we've made, 11 points from 6 would give you 69 or so from 38 which is comfortably top 6 but a step short of top 5 because last season there was a 9 point gulf between 5th and 6th. Don't think anyone in the whole wide world would be disappointed with 6th though or even 7th provided a top 5 club wins both of the cups and we'd stroll into Europe. -
Au contraire, in 2003/4 Charlton were above Bolton and Fulham were one place back, Pompey were in the PL, so were Middlesborough and Wolves. Arsenal won the title with their skinflint policy. In fact 9 of the sides that were in the PL in 2003/4 have now fallen by the wayside presumably they could no longer assemble the budgets needed to compete at the highest level which is basically what happened to Saints in 2004/5. Do you think we would be riding so high if Markus's millions hadn't allowed us to build a 70 million £ side?

Trouble there is that lorries are limited to 50 Km/h, you're limited to 70 and that there are radars everywhere, makes overtaking hazardous because of the bends, always quite please to see the Lodeve panel, a quite stressful descent on big lorry and camper van days.
-
Wouldn't have been much without Lukaku though and he was just on loan. West Brom are the PLs loan champions, always manage to get good players for nowt apart from the odd sky high wage packet that is.
