no it's 5 years residence after the age of 18, being a scholar or not has nothing to do with it. After 5 years you become eligible to become a UK national (you have to ask for it though) and if you take that road you can play for your adopted nation unless you've played in an official competiton for another nation at senior level.

It is possible, only official senior matches count as prohibitory. Diego Costa played for Brazil U21s and he's now chosen Spain. The rules are clear, 5 year's residence after the age of 18 and no senior call up.

Suggests to me that the wheels are probably already in motion then; Morgan would need to write to the FA stating that he wants to play for England (if he does that is) and renounce any possibility of playing for France. Surely the whole point of the Poppy Appeal is to raise funds for the British Legion, why people buy them is totally irrelevant.
