  1. probably just shoved his fingers in a light socket then.
  2. we bought Tinman remember........
  3. Right T20 starts this evening and Hants are off to a humdinger Dawson bowls for 5 wides from the very first ball. do we really need a slow left armer opening the bowling. Oh for Shackleton,Roberts and Marshall...even Tremlett
  4. fortunately I have quoted your original post and recorded it for posterity...
  5. Well if his England performance today is anything to go by it's certainly not JWP that will be replacing either of them. Doesn't seem to read the game at all well, always reactive and never proactive.
  6. indeed, looked like football in the 50s until Cole came on. All the "brothers" must be playing above their age group.
  7. I noticed something strange about the England team today, what do you think it was children ? Well perhaps not strange, more inhabitual or unusual.
  8. JWP looks very uninterested, I'm sure he's not though. Just seems to wander around a 15 metre square most of the time. In the main his team mates don't seem to want to pass to him at all.
  9. So there you have it, Lennon admits that Saints are superior to Celtic in footballing terms.
  10. well I doubt that it was a very big secret anyway especially after the "I'll reconsider my position if I can't carry out my plan" stuff. Doubt if it's ever been confirmed by anyone really in the know that the bid was for 12 million on the nose.
  11. it was over the rebuilding of the stadium that they play in . Wanted to stay in prison until proved innocent. However he has been banned from attending the club for 4 months on account of a couple of other things as well. Selling tickets for a match that the Italian Federation had decreed to be played behind closed doors and illegal payments to agents. The rest are under investigation for much more serious stuff like money laundering and tax evasion.
  12. Strange that the only 2 clubs that Saints seem to have dealings with (Cagliari and Bologna) are the only 2 top flight Italian clubs that were not raided. Just a coincidence no doubt.
  13. well sort of actually. Louis Nicollin (chairman of montpellier) vetoed signing Djibril Cisse (after it had all been arranged by lesser mortels) on Monday because he wants footballers not blokes who spend their time DJing in nightclubs. So if he was being sought after by PSG or Monaco that wouldn't have happened surely. Don't get many characters like Nicollin in football nowadays, made his money by emptying dustbins.
  14. but you and Bear are the two musketeers right, all for one and one for all ..
  15. so they'll sit in the stand cos they sure as hell won't play and the salaries will keep on rolling out of the door. Just the surplus to requirements players must be costing us what, 3 million per annum if not more?
  16. even if they don't we already have 3 mainline centre backs and Stephens (I suppose). We need to shift some players out before swamping ourselves with incoming. It's going to get problematic otherwise. Need to get our ass into gear on Lee,Sharp,Barnard,Hammond,at least one of the aforementioned CBs,JonnoQuick,Gazzaniga, Martin etc cos if we don't we're going to be paying them to sit in the stands again.
  17. Trouble is we have to fit these youngsters in somewhere along the line, which is why we will not be blowing shedloads of folding on loads of players from elsewhere this summer.
  18. AOC ? we saw them coming and bit their arm off, he wanted to go there at all cost and we milked that to the death, they'll regret it. he's not that good.
  19. we're only a couple of players away from a decent side, don't know where all this mass signing hysteria has come from. We'll sign perhaps 2 more and that will be that. One of them may be a top class and very expensive striker, the other may be a left/right back. Other than that it'll be one in one out.
  20. Wife says it's like renaissance Spanish.
  21. but not at 12 million quid. Nothing against the lad himself but he's an unknown quantity justly because of the standard of Scottish football. Yesterday I pointed out that Chaplow scoring against Man U in a narrow 2-1 cup defeat didn't necessarily make him a 12 million £ player. I'd like us to get Wanyama but for 4/5 million agent's fee thrown in and at a respectable salary which reflects the level of football he's been acquired from.
  22. as if agent bollix stopped at Dover and Berwick upon Tweed. Agent Bollix fuels the transfer market, it creates demand for less than average players by suggesting that Europe's top clubs are desirous of them.
  23. Astori ? Doubt it, either he or his club held out for too much for too long. Filed under 'not happening'
  24. Like Messi you mean ? Players used to farm out image rights to fiscal paradises and make themselves into companies and the like to reduce tax but it was outlawed in the UK sometime back I believe. the basis of the "scam" was that a player received a loan from his club as a limited company and not full salary. Instead of 50% or so income tax his "company" paid just corporation tax at 28% or similar. Think it was outlawed but it may well be still in use.
  25. Then again there are agents and agents. Unfortunately some are greedier than others. An agent who's used to arranging big moves all of the time probably asks for (relatively) less than one who just has a couple of bit part players on his books. Check it all for yourself. Wanyama uses an agency called Extratime, based in South Africa I believe.
