I am not a fan of today's Italian football, too wimpy as their abject display against the French the other night showed. You do have to ask yourself though how many Italian "Stars" have really made it in the PL . English football is something different and many a really good player hasn't made the grade but has refound his qualities on returning to some other European league. Midfield in the PL must be one of the hardest ever places to play.

I really,really doubt that the Liebherr family (or Markus's branch of it anyway) has anything more to do with the club whatsoever. NC runs Markus's mainstream industry as well.

The spending was wrong....that's the whole crux of the matter. We blew 7.6 million in May or June on an NPC hotshot that we didn't need just to show we could. Our season comes down to that one mistake because when we should have been signing a keeper and a partner for José we were running after JRod. We had pre-emptively decided that Billy Sharp wasn't PL material but we still bought an NPC striker with less goals to replace him.
