The result of a match in Brazil has been annuled by a court because video shows that one of the goals was scored by a player using his hand. Now whether the law in other countries allows court action to be brought for sporting fraud I just couldn't say but I think it's the first time a court anywhere has overturned the result of a game because of blatant cheating.

Cork tackles pretty well and he's a bit more solid physically than Davis (who I do not overly rate) Cork wins headers whereas I don't think davis has much of an attribute in that department and as the anchor man is playing in front of a weak defence a bit of defensive quality (Cork has played RB and CB don't forget) doesn't go amiss. I see Boruc,Frazer,Yoshi,Fonte,Clyne,Cork,Ramirez,Lallana,Morgan,Mayuaka,Rickie as being our strongest possible line up until January at least.

To me the solution lies in getting the ball out to wide men who can retain the ball but as Puncheon and Adam both struggle in ball retention we don't have a very obvious solution. I can't wait to see Corky and Gaston back because then we can shove Morgan a bit farther forward because he and Gaston can retain the ball and to boot they're both pretty nippy when they want to be. We just have to get Morgan off of the anchor role and use him further forward as my good friend Ottery so rightly pointed out the other day.

An adequate defence in the NPC doesn't necessarily translate into an adequate defence in the PL. If you have just one player of 4 who is able to impose himself physically over players of a lesser standard (I'm talking about Jos here) but gets cruelly shown up by top class players the difference become obvious. We were often cut to ribbons by sides with good wide men last season as well, showing that Fox was already limited in the NPC on occasions. We replaced Richardson with Clyne but I'm not at all sure that Clyne is all that much better defensively, I doubt if Frazer would have let Bale get that header in on Sunday.

So no one on the first team staff reports to Reed, is that right ?

Moyes saved Everton from relegation in his first quarter season there, he then had a very respectable first full season where Everton qualified for the UEFA or something. After that he had troubles with knob players who were there when he arrived but as he dealt with them in a typical Glaswegian manner and not the kind of nicey-nicey way that you'd imagine Adkins using, he eventually imposed his will and turned them around. The rest is history. The real point being that he was good from the gun in the PL and knobbish players couldn't change that.

It means that our manager has a distinct model for what he thinks is a good player and if you don't fit it your chances at SFC are slight. IMHO of course. I've always made it known that although I think NA was adequate in L1 and benefited from a vastly superior squad in the NPC that he's not my ideal manager. The nucleus of our side is pre-Pardew and Pardew players and that some of those who are currently seemingly found to be wanting are NA players. -
What is going on,at our beloved club?

Well one thing is sure if we're adopting a yoyo stategy we can kiss the 7.6 million that we paid for JRod goodbye. Senseless investment when what we needed was a PL CB and a PL LB. Whomsoever made that decision is at the root of all our problems. -

Lee was seriously injured in training (just like Ramirez).Even when he was fit he didn't play very much and if you listen to what he's supposed to have said he's been fit for a while and not picked even as a sub, just as he wasn't at the start of the season. He's lost his Japan place because we do not play him or give him any game time and I can see him wanting out because of that. Connolly was saying the same thing a couple of years back, so was Barnard, when you're out of favour at SFC you might as well clear out cos you ain't going to get a game. -

As I said the other day SDR and TL are probably just waiting to leave in January because they want to play football and they won't do that at SFC. Lee has lost his Japan place to the awful Havenaar since he's been with us, probably because he just doesn't play enough and SDR was a bit of a big star in Holland now he's just a bit part player who won't see any more first team action until we play some minnows in the FA cup.. -
That's part of the problem, Lambert isn't good enough at PL level to shoulder a lone striker role. We can't just lump it forward to Lambert because it will come straight back at us and probably down the wings where we're weak.

Pfff If I had a refund of ticket and expenses for every garbage Saints performance that I've attended I could retire to the Bahamas. Rubbish teams are an occupational hazard of the ardent football supporter.
-
trouble with that is that it deprives us of his creative talent further forward. Davis can't play the role because he can't tackle and isn't all that quick in his vision of the game. I'd give the role to JWP and let Morgan play a weeny bit further forward because that's where he's at his finest. Think it was that way against Utd and maybe City. Against the Arse Davis was on anchor in the first half but it was a disaster and NA turned it round in the second half.

Like last week, Morgan does pretty well down the right and sets up JRod but according to DM it was Lallana that set him up, of course you can't tell that at the time but when you see the video with his nonsensical comments you catch on straight away.

How many tactical mistakes is Adkins allowed? (Part 2)
Window Cleaner replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
well I do because some of them were here before NA, quite a few actually, some might even say the majority. Davis,Richardson,Morgan,Lallana, Fonte, Lambert,Puncheon,Guly,Dickson,Seaborne to name but a few. -

Turkish seems to have an almost personal beef with NC, it's pretty obvious that he has a staff member feeding him information about what goes on at SMS, I do wonder if Turks ever worked for the club himself and was made redundant under the Cortese regime or if he has a mate or family member who suffered that sort; -
we might well do just that.

He's a ridiculously overated player, hardly played for us last season and never in CM, he's riding his reputation of a couple of games in League 1. His woefulness probably affected JWP as well cos he's used to playing with Morgan and Davis who can help him along as well as concentrate on their own games. -

Because we being a Premier League side are supposed to have a squad that can handle 2 matches in 48 hours better than an NPC side. Ther fact that our squad contains a load of old hacks and young players with hardly any league experience does not carry any weight with the the Football league. You get PL money you're supposed to have a squad that reflects it, it's not Leed's fault that we have retained the likes of Seaborne,Chaplow and De Ridder probably because we can't get shot of them. -
ridiculously offensive side, it's JRod or Lambert not both.l
-
If that be so then I hope we have a new man lined up and ready to start work next Wednesday. Please no more Dean Wilkins interim periods. Anyway if NA was going to be sacked it should have been at the International Break.

It's not a question of having a short memory, it's a question of having enough quality players in the group to make results dependant on something other than the fallibility of the weakest links. We currently have about 30 players available to us, I'd estimate that only 5 or 6 of them are really good enough to achieve decent results and the rest will always let them down so no matter how well those 5 or 6 players play the results will probably never show what they've done. When that happens disillusion sets in and phone calls to agents start. Expect a mass exodus in January if we're tailed off beyond recovery because certain won't want a relegation on their CVs.

plus West Ham were playing well at the end of the season and the play-offs were a bit of a formality. Not sure that we'd have won them so easily not with our defence. -

Another club perhaps but not in the PL and maybe not even in the NPC at this time. He has a contract until June 2015 I believe and if he gets sacked that's a couple of million pay-off which he wouldn't get by resigning or from any other club. -

I criticised the side before the game but said nothing about Adkins, more about the policy that seems to have been imposed on him. Then again as many will know I'm am not a great believer in our yoof policy because at the end of the day any that are produced by the system who are really good enough just stay here for a few months and then swan off to pastures new looking for trophies and top league positions.
