Well yes but in olden days they wrote anything about anyone.Having some factual foundation just didn't come into it. Never forget their vendetta with W H Smith (who didn't sell PE at the time).Incited readers to go down to their local branch of WHS at busy times and ask for stacks of rare magazines that didn't sell all that well. After making the assistant find about 10 or 15 such publications ask for Private Eye,when informed that WHS did not carry that review client refused all the others because of it.Not a good time to work for WHS cos a lot of PE readers did exactly that.

depends if Jos is back or not. With Jos...3-0 or 3-1 without Jos...who knows,I can see J Rod and Austin being too good for Martin. Not a fan really, wish we'd got someone in in the window, right at the start cos Jose was absent then.I went to Gillingham a couple of seasons back and still can't get that woeful Martin/Fonte spectacle out of my head.Jose was moaning all afternoon about being on ther wrong side and Martin was just well woeful.I think Martin and Jos works better than Martin and Jose actually.

looked it up, about 39000£ for Harry and £15000 for Milan according to the CPS. not worth a 2 week trial. Should have just offered them the chance to pay and shut the feck up.

Not guilty.

Second winds don't usually apply in marathons, it's the analogy that I'm questioning not our case specifically. As Yones Ondieki said, I don't sprint, I'm a distance runner.

but he's right, this was about 20K in tax. In France they wouldn't even bother with courts for that sort of sum, just issue a belated taxation notice and take it out of your bank account and let you prove they were wrong to do so if you could. They had a voluntary purge on offshore accounts here last year, they presented you with their case, gave you a month or so to think about it and then let you pay with no questions asked,no penalties ,no nothing. Netted them 6 billion euros and not one court case to get it.
-
case was too open to interpretation,no hard evidence, just circumstancial. I guess the fact that Harry and Milan do in fact pay a lot of tax on far far greater sums destroyed all prosecution credibility, not to mention, a News of the World journalist seemed to be a key witness. On the few facts that I know I would have given them the benefit of the doubt and that's all it needs.
-
don't know all the ins and outs but the CPS case didn't seem very solid to me,should have just asked them for a voluntary contribution on the sums and left it well alone. Now it's a green light for all sorts of "funds for a portfolio" transactions.

No other reflection other than the marathon analogy.Good marathons are either run at even pace or in negative split, ie the second half is faster than the first. Bad marathons are almost always caused by going out too fast and then imploding so that at the end you can hardly put one foot in front of the other. So in our case the marathon comparison is not at all valid cos well we hit the wall at the end of November,at about 10 miles !!!:rolleyes:

wouldn't expect to see De Ridder on Saturday,he was begging to come off last night apparently, hamstring trouble again.

But I could have told you we would be poor in the first half. NA wanted to start Chaplow at all costs so what can you expect. Chaplow is not a central midfield player and should not be used in that role when we're on a flat 4-4-2.You need 2 CMs like Cork and Morgan and the 2 advanced MFs have to do the forward work.Morgan and Cork are much decried but in a normal 442 system getting into the opponents box is not their role, that's for Lallana and Puncheon or De Ridder or what have you. DM are there to watch and recover the ball and move it around until they spot a pass going the right way. Anyway we'd be better playing 4-3-3, if you want Barcelona results you have to have a Barcelona approach. -
One and done!!

Nope not yet, would it be true to say that Jos and Jose haven't played together since Pompey away?? Still think that's the real reason for our poorer results, discounting Bristol away that is. Jos and Jose form a solid platform at the back, with the current pairing one of the CMs has to be far more attentive to what's happening behind him and we don't play the ball out in the same way. -

They're sort of polar fleece and you heat them up in the microwave before you put them on. On reflection the veto was probably judicious. -
