  1. Perhaps they believe that the team that got us to the top of the League plus a new Japanese international striker is good enough to finish the job as well.Did we need Hooper or Rhodes or Maynard to get us there? no we didn't so as we now have T Lee as well perhaps we'll make it after all. Too many people are writing off Tadanari Lee as a novelty signing who'll bring nothing to the side whatsoever. If we need players it's not a 6 million £ striker it's a CB and a Keeper who knows how to keep hold of the sodding ball.
  2. Don't actually see why a striker that's scored 11 goals in Scottish League football is considered as vastly superior to one who's scored 15 goas in Japanese football and a few international goals as well.I have an extremely low opinion of Scottish Footer and would never believe that any player there could be worth more than a couple of million quid.Scots football used to be of a decent quality but in the last 10 years or so it's turned into a staging post for has beens and Africans and East Europeans seeking something better.
  3. Take away his 5 (or is it 6 penalties) and Lambert's strike record become good but not exceptional, those 30 yd free kicks aren't fooling many NPC keepers any more now are they.Lambert has a structure around him that makes him likely to score, without that structure he'd be pretty average, do West Ham have a structure like that? I don't really know enough about them to say yay or nay to that. If Guly took our penalties with Lambertian precision he'd be on 14 (or 15) League goals and Lambert would be on 10, so who's the better striker of those 2 then?
  4. Obviously they're going down the Japanese Rd as well then,Maeda will be signing for them today or tomorrow and then they'll be getting their work permit panel hearing within a week or so.Heard it here first.Perhaps West Ham's fans will be as unimpressed as the majority of our fans seem to be.
  5. That would be because it's extremely strong and easy to drink and has become a fallback for alcolohics because cider duty is about half of beer duty for the stronger forms (ie 7/8/9%).Old tramps used to drink meths now it's white cider.Ever tried to dried a quarter of a pint of whisky in 1 go, not easy is it,but a pint of 9% white cider cut with a dash of lemonade goes down real easy,in fact you can probably down another one a few minutes after so you can get completely A/H'd very quickly and for a relatively low cost.
  6. who'd want to go to Blackburn though, clubs bid, other clubs accept but if the player isn't interested in going there, then forget it.Classic example Pato,Milan Ac accepted 30 million euros from PSG, Pato likes Milan and he has a contract so doesn't see why he should be shipped out to pay for Carlos Tevez so he told them to forget about it.
  7. You just don't know that, he may well benefit from the higher level of players around him,a pass that goes astray now might be a match winner when directed at Adebayor rather than Lee Barnard or Steve De Ridder.
  8. But Rhodes isn't going to score 5 goals a game against real defences that's the point.
  9. Not surprised at the salary, they're supposed to be paying Ryoichi Maeda about 1.5 million euros a year, if they get a work permit for him that is, guess they figure he's got about the same status as Tadanari so if we can get one they can get one.
  10. Don't knock it though, thats another 17K a week for HMRC not to mention the million or so VAT that they'll take off of the transfer fee. Overpaid, overpriced footballers are just a way of channeling overseas (or offshore) money into the UK's treasury.
  11. My maternal grandparents used to eat fried breakfast nearly everyday, never saw them eat cereals or anything much else "healthy"for that matter.Grandad smoked 20 odd Woodbines a day and went to the Pub well into his 80s, Both made it into their 90s though.Bacon and Sausages in themselves probably won't do for you if you haven't got a susceptibility in some extent the first place. Then again you could get run over by a bus crossing the road to avoid the butchers and go to the greengrocers.
  12. Another idea that I think we need to put a question mark against from time to time. The club is well run but I have no idea how much our owners have in the bank nor who they are exactly.
  13. No I don't think I am, what I'm saying is that we should not keep equating the transfer fee received for AOC to every potential signing that rumour throws up.Had we not been sure of selling AOC and had we not had an injury crisis with our central defence then I doubt if we'd have bought either De Ridder or Jos.Even if De Ridder was signed before the depart of AOC,if it wasn't in the pipeline then we wouldn't have signed De Ridder.
  14. I heard sort of zero'ish but it's debateable.
  15. I see West Ham are going to sign Maeda then, copycats.
  16. Same money though. We no doubt knew he was going, just a question of when and for exactly how much.
  17. Aha the old Chamberlain money myth. Most of it has already gone,it wasn't 15 million anyway and we won't get 1 million for Puncheon. I do wish people would stop harping on about it though. Jos,Fox,Cork,SDR,Mister T=Most of "The Chamberlain Money".
  18. Nothing new there. Similar study published in France a couple of years back told us to lay off the bacon, ham, smoked ham and saucisson (don't know the English word for that).Don't think it did much good though because everytime I go to the supermarket I still see trolleys full of all that crap. The old french like it because it's sort of an "up yours" gesture to the Islamics as far as some are concerned.
  19. Always been like that,it's called strikermania,I blame Roy of the Rovers, if he'd been a centre half strikers would be 2 a penny. If you look at the history of outrageously expensive strikers you'll see that there have been some spectacular busts.
  20. Poyet has commented recently that with the wage structure they have Brighton are being priced out of the market both for players they want to buy and players they want to keep.
  21. Either they're going for an entire team of Donnellys at Swansea or you've got them all muddled up. Swansea signed Rory Donnelly from Cliftonville...think that's in Ireland.
  22. Showing up as the game on L'Equipe TV as well but they've changed it at the last minute so often of late that I couldn't be sure that we'll actually be on...hence a stream.
  23. Two 23 and 21, I think I must be an awful parent, my kids actually seem to like me.Mind you we don't see much of them, one at Louisiana Lafayette and the other at Cranfield on secondment from the French Navy. Probably comes of having a vivid memory and remembering what an ass I was when I was a kid.
  24. I think the point with PIP inserts is that a lot of the units are manufactured from different components to those that were given approval, isn't that what the owner of the company said, cost cutting measures due to prices being forced down by clinics and all that?
  25. Then again he may need a bit of time in the first team to show what he's got.A lot of young players seem to need 10-15 minutes game time for a few games on the trot to get the feel of the pace and guile of the level. As we never give any of them much time it(s hard for them to be thrown in the deep end suddenly.Doble was injured a lot when he was on loan at Bournemouth wasn't he?I would like to see us give Hoskins 15 minutes in each of the next 3 or 4 games to see what he has to offer.Otherwise we'll never know really given that he'll be 19 soon and that's getting on for starting a first team career in our day and age.
