  1. Didn't he fail a medical somewhere last summer? Portugal or Greece or something like that.Probably not related to this injury though.
  2. 30 odd games in 6 seasons including a loan spell with Barnsley.Must be bitterly disappointed with his time here.Still 23 is young for a keeper.
  3. especially as his "career" has,as yet, never really taken off.
  4. ligament damage isn't a "knock" though is it,
  5. Strange it's in the Echo but nothing (or not on my version) on the OS as yet. No build up video this week either.Perhaps the players haven't been in training much this week though.
  6. No but seriously I do not understand exactly why Lambert is on the field, week in week out when his scoring record from open play is inferior to that of Barnard,Guly and Lallana. We could just experiment with say Barnard and Guly and the full arsenal behind them to see what happens, but not just after 80 minutes or so,from the start.
  7. Hmmm a "carefully built treatment programme to nurse him through the remainder of his playing career", he's just 23 so it might be a handicap more than anything else.
  8. Losing Lambert might well be the biggest bonus we could hope for.It would make us play differently.
  9. Probably, why Lievremont has dropped Parra for Yachvilli at scrum half is just incomprehensible.
  10. Over the whole season so far yes but we had those 2 early home defeats on the counter before NA came here. Since then we're pretty solid at home and less so away. When you look at our remaining away games some of them are a bit of a worry, Orient,Rochdale,Charlton,Brighton,Bournemouth all sides who still fancy their chances of getting something out of this season, that will change as time goes on but if we just maintain our recent away form we'll be totally reliant on our home games to get us up.
  11. Yes I expect us to get 2nd as well but our away form concerns me somewhat. As long as we keep winning at home we'll be OK but even 1 home defeat or 2 draws will put us in serious trouble because our recent away record is just not good enough to make up for any sort of blip in our home form. With 9 away games left we really have to get something better from them than from the 4 of late, 5 from 4 just isn't good enough especially as 2 of those games are against promotion rivals and 1 against the league leader.A defeat against either Bournemouth or Charlton would put us in serious difficulty for the second auto promotion spot. Long ago I expressed concern about the gulf between home and away form in the context of the massive build up of away games in the latter part of the season.Unless we start winning away from home a bit more any upturn in say Charlton's or Huddersfield's form will be problematic.
  12. Ah stats, 8 from 4 is good, 8 from 5 not so much. By simply eliminating 1 match from the sample you change everything.
  13. Especially as recent away form would indicate that we'll take less than 4 points from our 3 away games in hand. Probably won't happen that way but we've 5 from the last 4 away.
  14. Although this is probably because we've played less games. This argument being made possible because Charlton failed to obtain a single point from their last 2 matches.
  15. Is this not the crux of my argument? I am not anti-Adkins,Yet I don't believe that he's the best we could have got and the timing of Pardew's sacking is abhorrent to me. I just wish we had Poyet that's all, a class player at the highest level who seems to have been able to translate some of his ability into management skills, which is not always the case.
  16. Rubbish that was totally unnecessary after the season started. After,in fact, the new man would be able to do anything about the situation in which he would find himself for a fair while. Why wait until transfer dead line day, we'd already lost the opening match, wasn't that a good reason for the "I told you so brigade" behind the scenes"
  17. And why would that be, I know he had a long term injury at the start of the season but then he seemed to put in a few decent performances, was first choice right back up until the Tranmere game and then nothing. I mean he might have been pretty awful that day but then so I believe were the whole side. Perhaps he has some sort of injury I really don't know but Adkins does seem to like a scapegoat following a defeat.
  18. but with vastly inferior means in Brighton's case.Their leading scorer Murray, 17 league goals this season, not one of them from the penalty spot, cost about 300K a few years back, he's been brought on and is improving. Our leading scorer 14 league goals, including 6 penalties, cost us a million £ and isn't as performant as last season. It's not knocking but I personally wish we had Poyet and they had Adkins, I won't change that opinion for all the statistics you can generate. Poyet IS a superior manager end of story.
  19. But not as good as Brighton's, which is what this thread is about.
  20. Would be nice but they'll have their first XI out, count on it.
  21. As far as that?? I used to bike it to see my little girl-friend down that way. Not there and back in a day though, good excuse for staying over.
  22. They're used to mediocrity that's the trouble.Virtually everyone on this forum saw us winning the title this year,we'll probably get second and that's good but I've no great illusions about our progress after that.
  23. Scores the odd goal though, which is more than you can say for our recruits. Most of our subs get 10 minutes at the end.
  24. My whole point in this argument is that Poyet is vastly superior to Adkins and we should have gone for someone of his quality.
