why would we want Antonio anyway? The two lads we've signed recently are probably just as good.
-
A bunch of silly schoolgirls all of them. If the club hadn't decided to make a big issue of it the 125th anniversary would have probably passed by with just a mention in a programme somewhere.I like to watch games and talk about the team but all the rest...well who gives a toss. NB If the club could be free of all the hangers on and Cortese as well that would suit me down to the ground.

Loan period to open.. Do we have a deal lined up?
Window Cleaner replied to Saint 76er's topic in The Saints
Fonte and Martin there you go. AP played Martin as did Wilkins. NA has decided, with the aid of Crosby I presume, that Martin is not yet good enough for the first team. It's pretty obvious that in any case possible "age and experience before class" is Adkins motto. With the signings of NGuessan and Forte the development group has been pushed off the substitutes bench completely.Gobern and Ox would have been the only home grown players in the 18 last Saturday. Our starting line up must have had an average age of about, what 27/28 and Ox is just 17. -

I think that by and large we have more than enough players in the first team group already. -

I thought it was Joe Murphy that we were supposed to be interested in anyway. No doubt Sc*nthorpe told us to p*ss right off when we offered them 30 bob. -

CMS on loan to a promotion rival ??? You have to be joking. -
must be a new record, 1 post and he (or she) slags off Alps.:D

Most games?? Seaborne spends half of his time on the bench and is not preferred to Jaidi unless we have a few games in a short space of time or that the opposition have particularly potent and rapid strikers. The manager has to sort this out, look at most really successful sides the centre back pairing is very much a constant.

Rickie Lambert - League One Top Scorer Again?
Window Cleaner replied to georgeweahscousin's topic in The Saints
But it's not a judgement in any way,it's a way of seeing the case.RL does lot of work that bring goals for others but he is not all that prolific in goals scored from open play this season that's all.At the end of the day the assertion was made that no-one remarked on it last season, what I'm saying is that I must have done because I always do. -
Although in defence of Davis you'd have to say that the stop he made from Boyd's effort cancels out the one he didn't make from Mackail Smith. If you invert those efforts few would have complained except that Boyd's effort was well struck and CMS's was a bit of a bobbler.

Rickie Lambert - League One Top Scorer Again?
Window Cleaner replied to georgeweahscousin's topic in The Saints
I am very constant in this, I always divide goals scored into open play and other.I have even had numerous disputes over this on this very forum. A striker who scores 15 goals from open play cannot be compared to one who scores 7 penalties and 8 from open play. All goals count but individual tallies are doped by penalties. -

6 or 7 penalties helps though. -
Probably would have cost too much even if we were interested. With 6 months left on his contract he'd probably want to be assured of playing at a higher level before he resigned anywhere. Our league position doesn't do us any favours on the player signing front. We may all firmly believe that we'll be in the NPC next season but the table now says maybe, maybe not.We have signed 2 fast forward players but for some reason we didn't use them from the start.
-
Spot on,we are playing too far forward, does Fonte really need to go charging forward for every corner and free kick when we're 2-0 up away from home.If the forwards can't do their job get some new ones but we have to stop this gung-ho football or at least when we're winning away from home.
-
MLT scored our first FA PL goal.We lost 3-1 to QPR
-
not an advisable assertion on a pedant thread, really really not.
-
Ridiculous decision. West Brom have no money and no talent so what's a bloke supposed to do; Bet they're amongst the smallest spenders in the EPL. If you want to win games then you have to spend money and pay excessive salaries.
-
Posh score a lot of goals but we have just got to get our defensive set up right. We went gung ho yesterday which seemed to have worked but with at least 5 players with no defensive qualities whatsoever on the pitch we were always going to struggle if Posh got their act together. NA has to decide between Ox and Barnard or Ox and Guly because all 3 is a disaster waiting to happen.
-
Seaborne just got roasted by a player of superior quality ,not even a cock up. I thought Davis might have done slightly better but CMS is a class act which we failed to tame. If the corner by Ox hadn't been ridiculously over-hit it might not even have happened that way.
-
I think we have to do better than that. 15 points minimum.
-
I thought he was quick as well and strong to boot.

In my opinion Chaplow spends far too much time far too far forward to be considered as a central midfielder plus as I've said before (and been slagged off because of it) his tackling is far too hazardous, getting a yellow a few minutes into the game for a kamikaze tackle isn't on,it means that he has to rein it in for the next 80 or so minutes. You can't have a midfield of Ox,Chaplow,Hammond and Guly because none of them can tackle correctly and they are caught out of position far too easily. Recovery midfielder is a serious job and you can't play that role if you spend over half your time in the opponents box.Adkins has got to rein in Chaplow's attacking appetites when we're 4-2 up away from home.
-
Lallana and Morgan both create time and space and can hold on to the ball until they can use it safely. Many of our players do not have these attributes, they can hustle and bustle and huff and puff but they haven't the class to play negatively in a positive way (if you catch my drift).
-
Lallana as well to some extent if I remember correctly.
-
Agreed but I'm not sure that it will happen. I think AOC's entourage will make a big fuss if he's not maintained in the first team on a constant basis. I don't think he's contributing as much as he was a while back and that it's weakening our side towards the end of games. The Euro 2011 must be a big target for him and not being selected week in,week out would probably be detrimental to that.
