His time here probably cost us an awful lot of money though. For me he was never sharp enough in front of goal, then again neither are Barnard or Guly.

Remembering the good ol' days: McMenemy, Ball & Peach
Window Cleaner replied to saint peach's topic in The Saints
Is Peach still the highest scoring full-back in Football League history?? 6 seasons with us, 224 games and 34 goals, must have scored a tidy few afterwards at Swindon as well. An average of 37 games a season for 6 seasons, great player for the club. Then again you didn't get sent off for blowing your nose in public in those days. -
What will Charlton do with their game in hand tonight
Window Cleaner replied to thefunkygibbons's topic in The Saints
Well I hope you're right there.Unfortunately I believe that points on the board are more important than available points because they give Brighton,Charlton and Bournemouth the option to shut up shop for a draw in their home games against us.As the poll has 250 or so amongst us who believe that we will make the play-offs at best I can see that others see it that way as well (although I'm in the runners up camp).I wish we had a game this evening because we're still 3 behind the original fixture schedule. -
Yes last year when we had Portsmouth in the Cup they put up a lot of previous Saints/Pompey footage.Don't think they bothered with that for Utd this year though.
-
I wouldn't mind paying extra for them, you could really analyse games by watching them, even if you had to split it down into 4/5 viewing sessions.
-
11 minutes 15 seconds indeed but if you take out the re-runs,the re-runs of re-runs and the argy bargy in the tunnel at half-time the highlights actually last about 4 minutes. What happened to the full 90s? They were good.
-
But as we have only played a handful of mid-week games this season compared to a fair-few Saturday games your theory is well.... baseless crap, mere coincidence .:scared: because of the sample size.If you go back to August/ September when we lost to Swindon midweek in the JPT we also lost on Saturday to Rochdale.

81 points will be nowhere near enough for automatic promotion FACT. 84/85 minimum.
-
I do not doubt for a minute that S****horpe would be struggling in League 1 as well;Seemingly a truly awful side nowadays.
-
Although I really doubt that Morgan would have started either of the last 2 matches even if he'd been fully fit.Hammond and Chaplow is NA's preferred pairing, just as Jaidi and Fonte are the preferred centre backs. Whether we agree with this or not doesn't matter, that's the way of it.NA seems to have a preferred age group for his "first XI". Anyway we'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out at the end of the season because if we don't get promotion then I guess NA will pay the price for his choices.
-
Mind you if you look at the "where will we finish poll" there seem to be an awful lot of smart posters who don't seem to fundamentally disagree with what Charlie says.A real eye opener is that poll.
-
Especially as their game in hand is against us.Depends if you choose the home game or the away game though;);).

Forte isn't on loan.He's on a 3 .5 year contract.
-
Saw Peterborough, Exeter and Man U, wasn't great by my standards in any of them. Went down to St Etienne-Lyon yesterday evening.AOC wouldn't have got into either of those sides on the 3 performances I've seen of late.
-
Anyway winging isn't a precise science. AOC has had a couple of lacklustre games of late apparently but he's still of course a darling boy. At Exeter we had a midfield who could pass, if you read between the lines of NA's post match piece that didn't happen yesterday.

Quite surprised that some of the more positive and knowledgeable poster are in the "Play-Off losers" camp.

League Table since Adkins - indications for 2nd half of season?
Window Cleaner replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Rochdale unbeaten in their last 10 matches from which they've taken 22 points. It's all very arbitrary indeed.Form depends where you start to look.Next Saturday's is a massive match for us because we're playing one of the real form teams of the moment at a time when they've won all their home games in a 2 month period. -
could be a reaction to being signed on loan when the vast majority were expecting Austin,Mackail-Smith and Messi though. Must be difficult for these lads who are signed at the tail-end of the window when so much speculation (and bullsh*t) about "significant bids" has gone before.
-
Adkins said it was a poor performance to all effects. Said that the players know what's expected of them and today wasn't anywhere near that...or words to that effect anyway.
-
Chaplow has become a real liability in the defensive sense of his role. He cannot tackle cleanly.I'm really surprised that he didn't get a red for his tackle on Fabio, last week's yellow at Posh was a carbon copy and I guess today's effort wasn't much better. He needs to play just the forward part of his role.Hammond isn't good enough in ball recovery for him to do just that though.
-
Perhaps he needs better ball being fed to him then.Looking at the scores on the doors on the Ugly everybody was pretty poor anyway. We need to get Morgan back into midfield to utilise players like N'Guessan to their full ability.
-
we signed 2 players who weren't here before though.
-
why was Chaplow replaced ?? because his tackling is atrocious and he'll get a straight red very soon I suppose.5 bookings in 15 starts isn't a great record. He really needs to be playing further forward where tackling isn't necessary. Trouble is we have too many attacking options on the field and not enough real midfielders.
-
of course; Our home core crowd is about 20500.
