  1. We'd hae difficulty fitting him in anyway, he has no defensive qualities at all (well if you believe Reading's fans forums anyway) and we are flush with offensive midfielders. You'd have to put him in instead of Chaplow and then if Deano had one of his lesser days you would be completely exposed.Reading use a a system with 2 hard tacking and mobile CMs with 2 wide OMs in front of them, Howard doesn't fit into this system (seemingly) because his tackling is said to be woeful. They can't feed those wide men (don't we rely on 2 wide men as well?) if the CMs can't tackle and obtain the ball so BH seems surplus to requirements there and would be here as well. Now next season when Ox is gone may be he could fit into our Morgan/Chappers/A N Other/Adam midfield but right now it wouldn't be any advance on where we are now, just anouth 10K a week sat on the bench, be it he or Chappers.
  2. 9 of 12 is all that we need, 88 points and a stonking GD will be enough. We have 9 winnable games +1 that is winnable so if we should fail it will be because we haven't controlled the controlables and even then we still have the "Dogs Chance" of the play-offs.
  3. But Peterborough have always had this firepower, they'd be streets ahead already if they'd had a defence to match it. Johnson got it all wrong defensively,Ferguson came back a re-established Zakuani in the starting pair and no doubt effected some tactical defensive changes as well.If they had to start from scratch I'd doubt that any League 1 side could afford a strike force like Peterborough nor could they obtain it even if they had the necessary wherewithal.Peterborough started the season as promotion favourites with ourselves and Sheffield Weds, managerial ineptitude held them back until it was corrected that's all.
  4. Are you not reporting on a regular basis conversation or text exchanges between the player and your son??If not I must have been imagining things or are you expressing your own opinion on the matter and reporting it as fact established in telephone exchanges? Pray enlighten me.
  5. Vastly underestimate Orient there, they will finish 5th or 6th.We will lose at Brighton and probably at Orient as well. We'll win 9 out 12 and still be second.
  6. Well unless he stops talking about it on websites and to chummies who fall over themselves to talk to the entire world about it,it's not going to happen. He must know how we do things at SFC.
  7. And in such great letters as they write “Here is good horse to hire” let them signify under my sign
  8. Well I hope I'm right because if it shouldn't come to pass for some reason or other the consequences will be far reaching, seismic even.
  9. I remember selling fruit machine tickets for the Saints Supporters Club, think they handed over quite a bit of the proceeds to the club and it's well known that the Supporter's Club (which I suppose is now defunct) kept us alive in hard times more than once.
  10. Anyway people take whatever Cortese says far too literally.
  11. We're in League 1 for another 7/8 weeks, then we'll be in the NPC and I don't think we need reading's cast-offs for that.
  12. Read the Reading OS, they say Leigertwood is still 'under observation' for some injury or other yet he plays in front of Howard.
  13. And even talks to the press about it, they must know we don't do deals in public by now, so why talk to the press. They want shot of him and some of their fans obviously don't rate him. I'd rather we get in a younger player because we have 3 good midfielders of our own already.
  14. Perhaps he just ain't all that good nowadays. He's being kept out of Reading's side by a Turkish U21 international and Leigertwood who's half fit apparently.
  15. Perhaps Morgan is nearer fitness than anyone knows.Anyway with 2 games in the next 4 days and then nothing for the next 10 perhaps we ain't all that desperate. Not as desperate as Reading seem to be shot of the player anyway.
  16. Perhaps Reading have a chance to buy Leigertwood from QPR (doubt that he'd fancy missing out on the EPL though) and they've just extended Tabb, with the Turkish lad who's doing great things this season perhaps Howard will be surplus to requirements.
  17. Belmadi is a coach in Qatar as well now, can't remember the team name though.
  18. is there any update in that link from the exact same one given in post 222?
  19. Not to mention Safri and Belmadi.
  20. there's a surprise then, what with his chairman or football director saying that they'd turned down Norwich's offer and he'd not be leaving until the end of the season and all that. Why risk a good chance of increased revenue of 3 or 4 million £ next season for a lesser sum paid just a few weeks earlier at best?
  21. It's the Saints foundation though not the football club itself.
  22. In fact England have made a complete horlicks of their entire world cup campaign anyway. The W Indies went for quick runs first to ease the pressure on the middle order who'd been held back and it seems to have worked.
  23. wouldn't even get 40K a month at SMS.
  24. This is exactly what I meant, we have our own players, all of whom will be on lesser salaries than Howard,NA is very group minded and I really can't see him taking a player for more money who we just don't need. If the bloke was coming from the EPL perhaps but a Reading reserve for a shedload ?.....no thanks.
  25. Not at all surprising really, why would we want to pay any significant part of 12/15K a week for a back-up midfielder?
