Tbh i like the team although i'd prefer JRod upfront instead of Guly but still a nice team with lots of pace, hope Lee and Mayuka plays well and pushes for starting place for the weekend
-
Utter madness, he's our best keeper so Boruc throws a bottle at the crowd and get number 1 shirt, Guly gets busted for drink driving and still gets picked ahead of better players maybe thats how you get into the saints team now, be bad.
-
Shaw has a great free kick and could be our answer to left back with Reeves as sub, as for Davis, i've said it a lot this season already, JWP is much better but i would keep him in til Cork is back and play Jwp as well as morgan in a 3 man cm midfield. Mayuka is a great player why it's taken this amount of time for him to get that much play time is unreal, he should of been starting every game since Ramirez got injured, how Guly was picked over Mayuka last week was a very very strange choice. Jrod, i like him but atm Mayuka, Lallana and Ramirez are much better choices to play behind the striker. My midfield/forward line up when all is fit would be... ---Cork---Morgan----Jwp---- ----Mayuka/Lallana-----Ramirez- ----------Lambert/JRod---------- I think that has a better shape and should suit us a lot more, having 3 CM's should provide good defensive cover with the attacking midfielders behind the striker going wide when possible. Having Jrod playing behind the striker is just a waste, although played better today he's far better as a main striker, would be a good sub and cover for Lambo played in his correct position. Btw the 442 formation didnt work today in the first half and we should never try it again, too many teams now play a 5 man midfield which counters out the 442.
-
Oh great just saw the line up, we're screwed, Jrod out of position again, fox not very good defensive. If we're playing a 442 should of started with Mayuka for his pace not Jrod.
-
I really hope not, Guly is terrible and Maya isnt a left back. --------------Gazza------------ Clyne---- Fonte--Maya-----Shaw --------Morgan JWP Davis------- ------Lallana--------Punch------ -------------Lambert----------- More of a 433 formation, yes less attacking but a bit more defensive but it's what we need, 1-0 victory is just as good as 4-3

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
DrunkenSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I'd welcome him back but only if he does not spend spend spend and place all of his signings on ridiculous wages and he keeps the youngsters in mind. Also he is not allowed to walk out if England go asking if he starts to do well for us. Probably would sort out the defence with some good signings and keep our style of play. -
Since we're not playing a 433 i reckon 433 will work, we're playing 4231 atm which aint working -------------------Gazza---------------------- Clyne-------Fonte---------Yoshida---------Shaw -------Cork-----Morgan-----JWP-------- ------------Lallana---------Ramirez------- ------------------Lambo/Lee-----------

I'd sack cause if this carries on too long we'll be in big trouble and even a new manager in the 2nd half of the season wouldnt help. Thing is i do like him but he's put this all on himself, he's cocky and wants to do it his way and he never says he made a mistake and always blames it on his defence, it's about time someone close to him and tells him some of his players are just not good enough. Guly, Fox and even JRod are just not good enough for this level (JRod is suppose to be for the future not now). Quality not experience gets you results, Shaw is a great player, Arsenal and Chelsea were after him so give him ago? He could be the next Bale we'll never know til he starts playing. JWP is so much better than Davis, yes he's young and has to learn a few more things but he'll never learn without playing he, imo he gives much more than Davis on the pitch. Mayuka's pace is also what we should be using, him playing just behind the striker would be great for counter attacking football but NA leaves it way to late bringing him on each time, start with Guly or Mayuka? not really a hard choice. I don't like the 442 formation but i think til we get our players back from injury i think we should go back to the standard 442 (mayuka + lambo upfront) none of the diamond crap that failed badly against everton, least with that we might get something against Spurs. Just hope Bale will be kind to us and play ****.
-
He has to go sadly, that team today was terrible. He shouldn't of bought Jrod when we were getting 2 better choices and we still had Lee and Lambert. 7 mil on 2 defenders would have gone a long way. He wanted a bit more pace upfront today so why didn't he play Mayuka from the start, probably our fastest player and he's been going on about defence so he played Guly down the left where he does not track back and help the defence? I think JWP is a lot better than Davis but he picks Davis cause he is more experienced, quality before experience imo. Dear oh dear he hasn't helped himself at all.
-
We're doomed. Guly down the left so Yoshida wont get any protection and he isnt a left back oh good one Adkins. JRod hasn't had one good game in the premier, i like him as a player but he just isnt premier ready yet. I think this is just a mess of a team, why can't we play shaw? even if was played at left mid least he would give the left back more protection.
-
Id give it something different... --------------------Davis------------------- Clyne---------Fonte------Yoshida--------Shaw -------------Morgan--------JWP-------------- --------------------Chappers----------------- ---------Lallana-------------------Ramirez---- -----------------------Lee------------------- Fox is being aimed as our weakest link, quite a lot of chances are being taken down our left, lets see what Shaw is capable of. Lets play 2 defensive midfielders and then a box-box midfielder in Chappers (I don't rate Davis that much). Lee has great movement, pace and plays as a lone striker for Japan so he's used to it, him and Ramirez would work well together. Pitty on Punch since he's played well but im sure he would come on as a sub. Changes are needed it's about testing and seeing who works well together, we not seen Lee this season or shaw in action yet, give them ago!
-
You lot who said he's be a good signing are ****ing insane. He the biggest waste of space ever to put on an England shirt since Heskey.
-
Just watched Swansea on motd, thats how u play 433/451 Na take note, drop Guly drop Rod and get 2 proper wingers in. lee can play left but really need a right sided with pace, flair and the ability to cross.
-
if u play Rod you cant play lambo, in this new formation i dont care what ppl say, you play 1 striker end of with 2 wide midfielders either side and 3 cm in the centre, i keep saying it but NA is trying to keep to many players happy by playing Rod, Lambo and Guly at the same time. Guly isnt a right winger and Rod isnt a left winger, we have ppl who can play there so play them, my mate came back from the game today ranting about how **** Guly is, if NA keeps playing these players out of position week in week out he'll be down the job centre by november. We did so well last weekend somehow i knew this was gonna happen.
-
looks like a 442, got a bad feeling, should of stuck with our 5 man midfield its our strongest part of our squad, NA is trying to keep too many players happy, i personally would of stuck with the same tactics as last week inc the subs
-
wouldnt play 2 strikers unless they play in there rightful positions, unless we sign Ramirez id only swap lambo for Rod but play lambo upfront not on the left, Lee will need a few weeks but as soon as he's fit get him in the starting 11 also
-
Hope not but im sure we'll keep this type of formation for all of the season since we've been practising it alot and we have a good midfield with 3 in the centre just need to stop playing Rod out on the left he's wasted there, Ramirez would fit in there nicely or Philips but i cant wait til Lee is back, imagine Ramirez and Lee working together.....wow
-
i cant see why not, both can play on either side both have pace both like to take on defenders all which we miss and it means we wont be wasting a striker on the left. Would cause a bit of a headache keeping all the strikers happy though.
-
All players are nowadays
-
Simple, Lambo and Sharp can't play on the left, Lee has played on the left for Japan and for his former club. Lee is also out best player by a long mile, he's our only player who plays international football for a team in the top 20 in the world this has to count for something he also gets back and helps the midfield and knows how the 433 system works so does phillips. TBH im worried with Lallana in the middle he might come good after a dozen games or so but i don't think it will suit him to start off with. If we get Phillips he will be a great signing for us.
-
NA is playing the 433 formation all wrong, i watched the game he needs to stick Rod, lambo or sharp upfront not use of of them as a winger or playing one behind it just does not work. You always need a wide midfielder or a attacking midfielder playing along side the forward since when we dont have the ball they will get back and help, atm Rod is lost on the left and fox needs help at defending. Really for this to work we need to have a good mix of midfielder's which we do have but NA's problem he has 3 strikers for 1 spot. Lambo the fans favourite, Rod the record signing and Sharp the goal poacher who is the best suited for the role. He is tryign to please all 3 of them and it just wont work. He'll have an even bigger headache when Lee comes back, he is infact used to playing upfront on his own for japan but he can and has played on the left in a 433, so what will he do? He can't play 2 of them unless we go 442 but i don't think that will work, our midfield will get stretched against most teams in the premier as they use pace and thats what let us down last season. 451/433 formation does suit us cause we have a good number of midfield players but if he knew he was going to do this formation he should of got players in to suit that formation and sold the ones who don't. I still think shaw would do a great job in the left midfield spot, he'll cover Fox and he will also gain experience he needs and i would push Lallana out on the right and have 3 from Jwp, Morgan, Cork, Davis, Chappers in the centre. I just think NA is jumping on the 433 bandwagon without thinking.
-
Sharp upfront cause of his form with Lallana on the right Shaw on the left morgan, Davis and jwp in the centre, good balanced midfield all will get back and help and close down opposition and someone on the left to help protect fox. Lambert atm isn't cutting it and jrod might be suited better the the striker role but cause of NA playing him out of position he's not getting the goals he needs.
-
Yep he should start the first game, 5 goals so far in pre season? JR 1 and Lambo 0 i think
-
Well JRod isnt a winger he needed to play a wide midfielder there, imo lambert hasn't scored in this new formation yet, sharp and rod has looked better upfront but still worried NA is going to use ppl out of position like JR on the left and Guly on the right, it isnt going to work, keep players where they play best...we also need a CB or 2 before the start. Also need Lee back asap.
-
Not sure why none of you lot are considering playing Shaw in the left midfield spot, he played well a couple of time over in france in the LM/LW spot, could be the next Bale in the making. Really still don't get why everyone is including Guly in their first team, we have better options and Jrod isnt a a LW type player he'll be wasted there, NA can really only choose 1 out of JRod, Sharp and Lambo. In this type of formation you only need to look at other teams who have been using it for a while, Spain, Barca and Swansea. They don't play strikers out wide they play wide midfielders or wingers so when they don't have the ball they pull back to pack the midfield. If we play Guly (striker) and JRod (striker) out wide wont be as effective as it could be. Wide players we have: Lee, Lallana, SDR, Punch, Shaw Strikers: Lambo, Rod, Sharp, Lee, Guly Centre mid: Morgan, Cork, Chappers, JWP, Davis, Lallana, Chambers NA should pick players in them pools to suit the game ahead imo.
