Simple, Lambo and Sharp can't play on the left, Lee has played on the left for Japan and for his former club. Lee is also out best player by a long mile, he's our only player who plays international football for a team in the top 20 in the world this has to count for something he also gets back and helps the midfield and knows how the 433 system works so does phillips. TBH im worried with Lallana in the middle he might come good after a dozen games or so but i don't think it will suit him to start off with. If we get Phillips he will be a great signing for us.

NA is playing the 433 formation all wrong, i watched the game he needs to stick Rod, lambo or sharp upfront not use of of them as a winger or playing one behind it just does not work. You always need a wide midfielder or a attacking midfielder playing along side the forward since when we dont have the ball they will get back and help, atm Rod is lost on the left and fox needs help at defending. Really for this to work we need to have a good mix of midfielder's which we do have but NA's problem he has 3 strikers for 1 spot. Lambo the fans favourite, Rod the record signing and Sharp the goal poacher who is the best suited for the role. He is tryign to please all 3 of them and it just wont work. He'll have an even bigger headache when Lee comes back, he is infact used to playing upfront on his own for japan but he can and has played on the left in a 433, so what will he do? He can't play 2 of them unless we go 442 but i don't think that will work, our midfield will get stretched against most teams in the premier as they use pace and thats what let us down last season. 451/433 formation does suit us cause we have a good number of midfield players but if he knew he was going to do this formation he should of got players in to suit that formation and sold the ones who don't. I still think shaw would do a great job in the left midfield spot, he'll cover Fox and he will also gain experience he needs and i would push Lallana out on the right and have 3 from Jwp, Morgan, Cork, Davis, Chappers in the centre. I just think NA is jumping on the 433 bandwagon without thinking.
-
Sharp upfront cause of his form with Lallana on the right Shaw on the left morgan, Davis and jwp in the centre, good balanced midfield all will get back and help and close down opposition and someone on the left to help protect fox. Lambert atm isn't cutting it and jrod might be suited better the the striker role but cause of NA playing him out of position he's not getting the goals he needs.
-
Yep he should start the first game, 5 goals so far in pre season? JR 1 and Lambo 0 i think
-
Well JRod isnt a winger he needed to play a wide midfielder there, imo lambert hasn't scored in this new formation yet, sharp and rod has looked better upfront but still worried NA is going to use ppl out of position like JR on the left and Guly on the right, it isnt going to work, keep players where they play best...we also need a CB or 2 before the start. Also need Lee back asap.
-
Not sure why none of you lot are considering playing Shaw in the left midfield spot, he played well a couple of time over in france in the LM/LW spot, could be the next Bale in the making. Really still don't get why everyone is including Guly in their first team, we have better options and Jrod isnt a a LW type player he'll be wasted there, NA can really only choose 1 out of JRod, Sharp and Lambo. In this type of formation you only need to look at other teams who have been using it for a while, Spain, Barca and Swansea. They don't play strikers out wide they play wide midfielders or wingers so when they don't have the ball they pull back to pack the midfield. If we play Guly (striker) and JRod (striker) out wide wont be as effective as it could be. Wide players we have: Lee, Lallana, SDR, Punch, Shaw Strikers: Lambo, Rod, Sharp, Lee, Guly Centre mid: Morgan, Cork, Chappers, JWP, Davis, Lallana, Chambers NA should pick players in them pools to suit the game ahead imo.
-
Guly always has 1 or 2 good games but is utter useless there after this is why we need to remove him from the team he wont be a premiership standard player and we have better options. Jwp looks great we need his energy in the centre of the park always closing down quickly and we can play lallana out on the right instead of Guly, Lallana would do a better job. Punch could play down the left til Lee is fit as Lee can play there and has played there for Japan. Sharp for me is looking good in that lone striker position he's getting the goals but need to see what jrod can do there but really cant see lambert getting in there atm he did look unfit against Ajax. Good moral boosting result though.
-
like i said he isn't a winger and to make this formation more effective you need proper wingers. Nothing about his performance, he's done well (thats good coming from me) but we should try proper wingers, it's a friendly after all we need to test things.
-
Lallana is looking great in the centre, Clyne and Jwp look also very good, for me take Guly and Lambo off, and put JRod upfront and get Shaw on the left and Punch down the right then as the game goes on let sharp have ago upfront. Guly has done nothing wrong for a change but he isnt a wide player, he's better in the centre but there is no way he could replace lallana and lambo for me looks a little unfit or cant fit into this formation. All in all looking very good.
-
if that happens we'll get slaughtered, u need to pack the midfield to stop man city from playing the 451 formation would suit us alot better as we have a strong centre midfield in Morgan, Cork and either Davis/JWP, we should of played something similar today unless Jrod is playing out wide left but then i fear Guly being on the right where isn't that good there. But lets see what happens..coyr.
-
...............Davis......... Clyne... Fonte... Jos... Fox .............Morgan............ .....Ward-P.........Davis...... Lallana...................Shaw.. ................JRod.............. Punch might get in there due to good form but i think from the way things have gone so far we're using a 451/433 type of formation. The youngsters have done us well so far least give them ago against a champions league team.
-
just asked my dutch friend who supports PSV and he said that Southampton were looking at him a few months back but PSV do not want to sell him.
-
not in this currant formation ;P we're playing a 451 type of formation means only 1 of sharp, JRod and Lambo will start. Chung would probably play on the left with AL on the right but atm Shaw , JWP and Chambers are sounding great. I think this 451 formation will suit us as we do have quite alot of midfielders. NA could possibly rotate the lone striker for home and away games to keep everyone fresh. Just hope NA will see that these youngsters could infact bring better results. Atm JWP should start against Man City he's sounding fantastic.
-
Buttner would play left midfield since thats where he has been playing for his currant club. Looks to me that we will be doing a 451 formation which attacking is a 433 and Buttner can play anywhere down the left. I reckon Chung and Buttner would be our left midfield players and Lallana will swap to the right side with SDR as backup. Shaw and Fox will be our main LB's and to give shaw a run out if we're winning, Buttner would go left back with Shaw going left mid (thats where he playing atm against that french team).
-
Good luck to him if true but we do need to cut down the squad a little to make room for new and better players.
-
******* ****
-
No not really, he's not played all that much in what 4-5 seasons and im sure last season he came on then got injured so had to be subbed, was early in the season then i never saw his name in the paper as a starter or a sub even in cup matches. If he was fully fit and played like he did before he went to Man Utd yes he would be a great player but being out for so long and with his injury proneness it'll be a waste of a named player spot.
-
oh dear if true
-
Buttner has been playing very well in the left midfield and as he is also a left defender he will get back and help so i think AL will either go to the right midfield where we struggled last season or we have a different formation in mind, possible 451/433 type. Don't forget AL does not cover fox as good as he should so getting Buttner gives us options at LB and LM.
-
Cork and Morgan are much better, not too sure what Davis could bring but with Buttner coming also and he has been playing in the left midfield for his club last season that would also push Lallana in a more central role so Hammond could be just a reserve for most of the season unless 2 of those CM's become injured. He could get a look in if we played a 433/451 formation like spain do but we just don't know til the season starts but for now going on the system we had last year i can't see Hammond getting in. We still need to offload some players and bring some in.
-
f'ing awful player can't stand him
-
I hate keepers and strikers being captain, so for me it's either a CD or CM, Morgan or Cork atm are ones that it should be.
-
Him and Lee would be amazing, pace, flair and KDB would feed off Lee's off the ball movement. Things could be very good next season indeed
-
Really? i thought he was utter ****e against better defences and midfielders, cant header or tackle and doesn't close down fast enough or track back, he's got good vision but the prem is way out of his league. Cup games only im afraid. Lee, lambo, sharp and possibly Jay Rod will be main strikers, and Lallana, Morgan, Cork will be ahead of him that leaves one last spot, a spot that he struggled in, the right midfield which im sure will goto someone with pace and a box to box type player.

That sums 90% of our fans to the tee. Answer to the question Arsenal and Chelsea hate them both.
