He probably has been our best player Deserves a place on the bench at least, DC and Guly have both been miles off form but get starting place and bench place. If we lose NA really needs to answer some serious questions about his strange selections.
-
You dont pick someone from what they did ages ago otherwise we might as well ask MLT to come back and help us, it's all about form, DC was in great form at the start of the season but now has lost it, same as Guly again has lost it, you choose who's in form and drop the ones who ain't and both DC and Guly does not deserve a place even on the bench.
-
Not if the midfield does not provide them with the chances. In recent games our strikers have not cut it upfront due to the lack of service, millwall game was better but our defence let us down. Today id go foe something different although im not sure if it suits sharp. -------------------Davis------------------- Richardson---Fonte---Martin/Jos-----Harding --------------------Cork------------------- ------------Morgan------Puncheon--------- -----Lallana-------------------Sharp/Lee--- -------------------Lambo------------------ Subs: Bart, Jos/Martin, Hammond Sharp/Lee, De Ridder As i said im not sure if Sharp is that type of player to help out the midfield when needed but we do have a good team for this type of formation, gives us width when needed and players in the box when attacking and packing the midfield should help us win that battle and if you win the midfield battle you win the game most of the time anyway.

We were found out back in November and NA who everyone trusts, has not seen this. The only games we have won in the last few months were against 10 men and players have under performed for months but still get into the team. Most managers would look at the opposition before the game and choose tactics and team to counteract them, im afraid that NA seems to stick to the same game plan whoever we play and players who have performed in the past not on current form. I personally think he's lost the plot altogether, his substitutes have been strange, an attacker to replace a midfielder when Lambert was sent off even when we were losing the midfield battle and the other night an attacker on for the impressive De Ridder when we were 2-1 up, he should of replaced SDR for another midfielder if he wanted to rest SDR. The list continues.... I loved him for getting us here but he really needs to get his act together, stop his big headed talk and his excuses and just sort out this mess, if it means we stop playing fancy football so be it, id prefer to win any game playing ugly than lose playing pretty football.

Saints 2 - 3 Millwall - Post Match Reaction
DrunkenSaint replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Bad for moral but i really didnt want to go through. NA really needs to ask himself a few things before saturday what the hell has gone wrong since November...we had a good defence, was scoring goals, playing nice football and was in a really good position for promotion now it's all a mess, can't even beat a crap Millwall side. We need to go back to basics or we're in deep trouble if this carries on. -
----------------Bart--------------- Richardson--Fonte--Martin--Harding -------------Hammond------------ ------Chaplow--------De Ridder---- --------------Reeves-------------- --------Lambert-----Lee----------- Bench: Davis, Butterfield, Morgan, Barney, Guly, Hoskins, JWP Really would like to see Lambo and Lee together but i reckon it wont happen tonight.
-
FFS NA what the hell are u playing at DC did F'all on Tuesday night, Guly is crap i would prefer Lee on the bench as he's determined and has the pace we miss so much.
-
He didnt bust a gut the other night knowing we had Lee on the bench (who did more in his 30mins than Connolly did in 80) and Sharp who couldn't be in the side. DC should not make the bench today, it should look like... Bart, Harding, Hammond/Morgan, Lee, Chappers/Guly/SDR or Falque. Sharp must start and Lee looks like he has a lot to give the team, if fit, Chappers and who ever does not start out of Deano & Morgan will always make the bench + DC has done very little recently.
-
It's not about if it can go ahead it's all about if it's safe for the fans to travel there and back which determines if games go ahead. Imo we would be better off calling it off, Chappers, Lee amd Sharp will all be settled down or fit for the rearranged game. They have also made it a Red Warning on the met and expect very heavy snow for the next 4+ hours.
-
It wont go ahead imo. too much snow is forecast for around that region and even we're gonna get hit, travelling is going to be crazy from tonight.
-
-----------------DAVIS------------------ FRAZER-----FONTE-----MARTIN------FOX ------PUNCHEON---CORK-----CHAPPERS-- -----------------LALLANA---------------- ----------LAMBERT----SHARP------------ Subs: Bart, Harding, Morgan, Hammond, Lee I have a feeling Chappers will start but wont last 90 mins, probably get replaced with Hammond and Lee will probably replace Lallana at some point since he looked very tired after Tuesdays game, Lee can play in that position behind the strikers. We looked alot better when AL played off the strikers and Cork, Morgan & Punch all played more central.
-
get Lee on
-
Morgan anytime, Hammond wont be able to handle the prem and Morgan's through balls will be the key for Lee and Sharpe.
-
Gully has been terrible for us for about 10 games in a row, it's winter it's cold he does not perform, he's a warm weather player! I am amazed that DC is even starting for me he can play well one game then have 3 off games, if he doesn't do it tonight i think he wont get into this team again with Sharpe and Lee here now.
-
Thank you, least someone else knows the stats. Guly has been carried for too long now, SDR gives us pace, width and is willing to fight for the ball, Guly goes missing in the winter and now with Lee and Sharpe bought in and Punch is back and looking good and Chappers back in light training, Guly's days are numbered during the winter at least.
-
I agree, I like Sharp a lot but i also think Lee has something great to offer us, i think Lee will be used as a sub now and Guly and DC will be used as cup players. Now we need a defender.
-
I'm pretty sure we beat West Ham with Chappers and Morgan in the centre. Your insane thinking Guly is a right midfielder, SDR and Punch is better than him in that position. Defence i agree with... SDR Morgan Cork Lallana Sharp Lambo I wouldn't even have Guly on the bench going from his form atm oh and it's going to get even colder so Guly wont be any good this month anyway, he hibernates during the winter.
-
well he provides width and that's what we need atm, he can be quite handy, scores goals and likes to run at the defence which is what we also lack. Hope his attitude has improved though. Still think we'll needs another winger and a defender though.
-
formation, tactics all wrong, need to stop this 3 cm thing we do, it works now and again but not all the time, NA does not like to change things but he needs to get it into his thick skull that playing hammond, cork and morgan does not work even having chappers back wont help if he keeps on doing the same tactics week in week out other teams know how to beat us now. The games we have won recently have come about getting good luck for us ie: playing against 10 men. Gully isnt up for a fight and DC plays well one week then does nothing the next. Now we have AL out and our main defender out it does not look good does it. Maybe we need fresh blood through transfer market or even give our kids ago, they are doing great.
-
we should of started the game the width we just never learn
-
It's a must win tonight having lost away to this lot, we need to get at least 4 points off everyone to finish in the top 2 so we're behind already. It's out of Cardiff, WHU, Saints, Brum and i reckon Blackpool will be up there at end of the season.
-
Just silly money, Id rather have Sordell and maybe another defender for that price and Sordell has what we need...pace.
-
easy one...Sordell, he has pace we lack
-
Well that sums it up for me, £6m saved. He only looks good as he's playing against other players who would struggle in league 1 or 2, he's like the Top Trump in that league but in the premier he'll be that card everyone gets ****ed off in having. If he was that good, one of the top premier clubs would be after him. Scott McDonald did well up there but he doesn't really light up the championship, Heskey did very well when at leicester but has done nothing since and is pretty much a laughing stock nowadays, why? cause when he was at leicester he was their main man so everything came to him so he had more chances and the law of averages meant he scored a lot more probably the same as Hooper at scunny, more chances equals more goals. hooper isnt worth £6m quid if we are aiming for the premier. Yes he could very well be a good premiership player, no-one knows but the word lazy and footballer shouldn't be in the sentence unless he's MLT but im sure he isn't.
-
I agree if we were after yet another striker we would be after someone with pace not the same type of player as of Lee/Lambert, i think we are after a right/left midfielder and maybe a young pacey striker. You could have a point about Rickie, maybe we have had a good offer for him, im sure we'll find out this week whatever happens.
