This is more relevant than you might think. Apparently Pellegrino didn’t like or get the training ground banter at all and tried to stop it . Two of the overseas players really didn’t like it. I’m told Pellegrinoˋs attitude towards it really did affect team morale.

The whole reason Hughes signing took so long was he wanted reassurances we wouldn’t weaken the squad particularly after last seasons fiasco. Hughes sees Saints as a great opportunity. If Tadic does go we will have a replacement lined up. I cannot see anyway Hughes is going to get mugged off by Les. Far too early to be bed wetting. I’m looking forward to next season.

I agree with the Strachan comparison. He had a distinctly average record prior to us but he ended up being a good fit for the club. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but I reckon Hughes will do well. I agree it’s clear from the fact that Krueger has conducted the interviews that Reeds influence will be reduced. The fact that he is looking for other jobs. It’s easy to knock Krueger as he not a natural football man but if you read his Wikipedia page he has been a major success in every endeavour he has been involved in. He doesn’t need the money he is a rich man. I suspect after getting Gao involved in the club followed by a disastrous season his professional pride has been hurt. One thing that has been left out is the comment from a couple of weeks ago that Nelly Gao would be taking a more prominent role in the club. I think Reed will be edged out. Hughes as manager and a shuffle around in the line up at the top can only be a good thing. I’m expecting more positive developments this week.

I’ve heard Hughes won’t be staying because he can’t work with Reed. If you remember that was also touched on in that Radio Solent debate. Of course that might be a Hughes negotiating ploy but he didn’t hang around much after the game.
