Well if it is I'm prepared to apologise but doesn't go with the whole red collar and red with white pinstripes that the majority have said.

That isn't the kit. It's just on a site where people post designs and mock-ups like we do on here.

In effect, Jay has stalled to see who else comes in for him to see if it suits him better but we are still in the driving seat with a contract offer on the table.

Exactly the point I've been trying to get across.

Its no different to me being a Southern lad but if part of my career and job required me to move up north, I'd give it a go and theres always the option of moving back when its over. Just look how much Billy Sharp is enjoying life on the South Coast with the sun, sea etc!

Yeah I agree but not meaning to be harsh to the lad, I think he needs to start getting on with it and realising he can move back to the north once his playing days are over if he wants.

I know it sounds stupid but he really needs to decide whether he wants a real crack at becoming a professional footballer and be prepared to move around the country and potentially Europe or be happy to sit in the North for another 10 years and regret missed opportunities when he eventually retires. Moving and relocating is all part of the job. No different from Brendan Rogers going from Wales to Liverpool in a day.

Surely if our "exclusive" deadline was tonight then surely Jay Rod has to be in country as it is would be part of the deal to get it wrapped up and signed before anyone else gets the chance otherwise there is no point of the "exclusivity period"? If he isn't here and we agree a deal in principle, theres nothing to stop another club bidding for him tomorrow and him signing for them when he "returns" next week. As above, pointless exclusivity deal if he can't sign during our exclusivity period?

Good spot! Straight from Gatwick to Southampton to meet with agent and discuss the deal. He then says yes or no ready for medical to potentially take place next week. Seems Nixon was right then about a decision needing to be made by tomorrow.night. Gives time to arrange medical for early next week and sign on Monday/Tuesday. Sounds good to me!

Suzanne Geldard at the Lancashire Telegraph has said that despite rumours that Rodriguez is on the south coast, she doesn't believe it to be the case. Still understands he's still on holiday in Mexico.

@bodenknights on twitter still expects the move to go through next week. Hasn't heard anything about him cutting his holiday short though and as he understands he's still in Mexico.

What about Joe Cole? Just watched the Special Report on Sky and seems like he really wants to come back to England but would be happy to stay at Lille. Says he has offers from 3 clubs. He'd sort our right midfield out immediately IMO.

Just another update. We need to get this wrapped up ASAP with other clubs such as Newcastle, Everton etc interested. Quick update: His agent has been in Southampton today and yesterday while Jay is still on holiday. Personal terms have been offered and we are now at the negotiation stage. Just need to wait and see now for his decision.

Scott Dann would be a really good signing! Never worked out for him at Blackburn and a fresh start here at a club with a winning mentality and he'd be a brilliant asset to challenge Fonte & Hooiveld.
