Chaplow? Burnley fan so would make sense. Not been the same since his injury, used as a RM here as he hasn't got the neccessary ball qualities for CM and would he be out of his depth at PL level? We're surely in the hunt for a RM anyway so sacrifice Chaplow and you can then look at players like Moses etc. -
http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/barnsley/barnsley-warn-newcastle-not-to-dally-over-butterfield-interest-1-4466468 Being linked properly today this time with Keith Hill saying Newcastle shouldn't dally over signing him and then stating that we are interested in signing him. Would be a clever signing with plenty of quality on the ball and also a tough tackler. A sort of Hammond + Schneiderlin hybrid. Would be a good option for the Premier League IMO.

Perfect reading for a Friday afternoon!! Can't stop laughing!!

Very good document and as you said well worth the read and look through. Would be more than happy to see similar plans for St Mary's but expecting them to be much more exciting and encouraging due to the increased funds we have. The Reading expansion seems to be a very simple way of doing it (continue with single tier and just add upper concourse) and I'd like to think that we are different to others ie. the new Training ground. Don't know how we'd do that but looks good to be honest!

Very happy! Exactly how i expwcted As I predicted earlier on the build up thread

Only one I can find is the Leicester v Burnley game. No links for our game. http://www.wiziwig.tv/broadcast.php?matchid=154690&part=sports Our only hope is that the schedule changes late on for our game but extremely unlikely!

They like to attack, They have threats all over and I think it's mentally more challenging to go to a team struggling rather than a team on a similar keel to us. The players need to rid any complacency from their minds and need to focus on getting a job done. We need to make sure we don't drop down to their level and stay switched on at all times. Gonna be difficult but i'm confident

Brilliant article in The Telegraph talking about us using Barcelona as a model for success with a few interviews with Cortese, Lallana and Reed thrown in. It is a good read if anyone has the time. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/9201250/Southampton-using-Barcelona-as-template-for-success-as-they-stand-on-the-cusp-of-Premier-League-return.html?

Tw4t. Missed. Still 1-0 -
I've been underwhelmed by him in some previous appearances ive seen in person or on TV but yesterday he stood out for me on their team. He was extreemly composed on the ball and looked to get forward whenever possible. He also dealt with Lallana and Fox very well but as you said, his only weakness was his height and we played to his weakness very well by targeting him with Lambert. I'd definitely go for him, one for now and the future without a doubt IMO.
-
He showed plenty of ability v Leicester with good control and some good movement, just it was the wrong game for his debut with almost half of our team out injured. I've seen the highlights of the development games and he has scored a couple of brilliant goals (one running from the half way line beating about 3 players and then scoring with the outside of his foot on the half volley) and Martin Hunter is always praising him in the interviews afterwards. I'd give him a go. I think that with him on one side and Lallana on the other we could tear teams apart. Can't be any worse than we're currently getting on the right.

Really really wish Falque would get another go in the side. quality player with plenty of ability but don't know whether it is seen as too much of a risk to play him. Heart says Falque but my head is saying Puncheon or Chaplow. I think Puncheon would be the better choice due to him having plenty of rest and he'll be the fittest and ready to go of all options I would've thought. Just think that he'll be the best option due to his trickery and ability on the ball as their left back (Parr) isn't the best at defending.

Gonna be a good day for us Saints fans I think. Leeds are inconsistent but I feel that they are due a decent performance after a couple of disappointing ones. Reading need to drop a few more points sooner or later so today may well be the day. Also feel that West Ham just cant handle the pressure. Here's hoping! Reading 2-2 Leeds Barnsley 2-1 WHU

To be honest, I can see both arriving. Lambert won't be here forever and Rodriguez is the closest possible likewise that there is out there and the only realistic one IMO and if we can get him in now, he can bed in and learn off of Rickie and become an "apprentice" next season in one of the toughest leagues in the world. no better place to learn. He can hold the ball up, link play and has a great shot on him. Also he knows where the net is at the current level. Hooper is another step up on Sharp and it is important we get someone in like this as I can see Barnard and Connolly moving on next season so 2 out, 2 in and this will leave us with 4 good options - Lambert, Rodriguez, Sharp, Hooper (5 including Guly). this is more than good enough for Premier League survival.
-
Only gone there on loan! Has played ner enough every game since returning and has got a couple of goals as well. Would be a brilliant signing IMO and would be ideal for the wide positions!

will the real Lee Barnard please stand up ..

He's a brilliant finisher who definitely knows she the net is. He is also our only real other option, in my opinion, who could partly do Lambert's job (win headers, hold up the ball, drop deep). He is similar to Sharp but they both offer different attributes. Cracking player who gives his all and I would definitely rare have him upfront than Guly. Deserves his chance from here on in. -
Just seen this on Twitter Don't give up just yet!!

To be fair, if we had won at Blackpool and lost at Hull or Leeds, I think many people would've accepted it and said brilliant month etc but football is all about expectations. To go to Hull and win so easily and comfortably (in the end) and get 3 massive points at Elland Road, made many people believe we could go to Blackpool and turn them over at home - a place where they've only lost 3 times this season! Overall it's been a superb month but it's been marred by this 1, disappointing display and result. As has been said, still 6 points clear of 3rd with superior goal difference so we effectively have 3 more "cock-ups" left this season which I cannot honestly see happening! It's gonna happen!! Believe!!
-
Who's put superglue on that goaline? Kelvin couldn't get off of it!!
-
Got a feeling Falque will get a start. Has been impressing for the development XI. Scored a cracking goal the other day as well. 2 creative players on either wing linking up with the front 2 to stretch and confuse the Blackpool defence.
-
He's revealed that we're not offering him a new contract in the summer. Bit of a shame IMO, looked good when I've seen him play for Brentford and might have developed into a decent player but he seems to be a victim of our success. Good luck for the future Harlee!
